Facts of the Persecution

Police in the Baimalong Labor Camp in Changsha, Hunan Province brutally beat Falun Dafa practitioners to death. Some Falun Dafa practitioners were hung by their cuffed hands for several days as punishment for doing the Falun Dafa exercises. This hanging often caused practitioners to pass out. It is very cold there in the winter, yet some Falun Dafa practitioners were cuffed outside onto clothes line supports, and in all kinds of awkward and painful positions, such as "Wu-ma-fen-shi" (stretching the body in four to five different directions), being cuffed with their hands behind their backs, and being hung up by hands cuffed behind their backs. During the day, they were forced to sit on a small stool, and not allowed to make even small movements, otherwise they were beaten or slapped in their faces. Some practitioners were shocked with electric batons for doing the Falun Dafa exercises, and became too weak to stand. It is very common for a practitioner to be punished with standing or sit-squatting for a whole night. Some practitioners' teeth were knocked out during the brutal force-feedings. Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Cao Jianzhen and Ms. Zuo Shuchun were tortured to death. Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Youyuan was sent to a mental hospital by the labor camp authorities and was tortured severely.

Ever since July 20, 1999, vicious police in the Yanliang District Police Station in Xian City, Shaanxi Province wrongfully sent Falun Dafa practitioners to labor camp or brainwashing classes, or had them fired from their jobs, or extorted their money. In December 1999, they detained Falun Dafa practitioners, who planned to go to Beijing to appeal, in the Yanliang District Detention Center. In 2000, they detained several Falun Dafa practitioners in the station, and sent Mr. Song Zhi to two years of labor camp. In January 2001, they detained another two Falun Dafa practitioners in the station, and sent Mr. Wang Yongzhuo to labor camp for one year. They had him fired from his public position. In December 2001, the police abducted Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Jiang Weidong, Ms. Su Haiping, Ms. Tan Dan, Ms. Wang Juan, and Ms. Zhang Jinlan. Ms. Zhang Jinlan was released after being tortured until she could not even move. In May 2002, police abducted Ms. Wang Juan, Ms. Tan Dan, and Mr. Huang Jinggen, among others. They were brought to a brainwashing class. In June 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms.Chen Xiurong, who was over 60 years old, was detained and beaten up brutally. In September 2003, Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Zhang Xinyuan, Mr. Huang Jinggen, and Mr. Feng Xincheng, among others were abducted. Currently, Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Zhang Xinyuan, Mr. Feng Xincheng, Ms. Tan Dan, and Mr. Jiang Weidong have been abducted and brought to a brainwashing class. They are on hunger strike to protest, and have been brutally force-fed.

Police in the Gaocheng City Detention Center in Hebei Province are very vicious. They burnt Falun Dafa practitioners with cigarette lighters, beat them, prohibited them from eating, and extorted their money. Falun Dafa practitioner Li Chouren endured numerous forms of torture in the detention center, including beating, forced-standing, sleep-deprivation, "riding an airplane," and even being forced to drink urine. He died 10 days after being released. The ruthless killers are still at large. Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Lu Feng and Mr. Huang Wenjiang became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home, but have been abducted and are now being held in a detention center.

After July 20, 1999, the Sidaohe Village Committee of Baoding City, Hebei Province ordered that all Falun Dafa practitioners' Books be handed in, and that practitioners "not be allowed to practice Falun Gong." They even took away practitioners' personal ID's. In spring of 2000, some Falun Dafa practitioners in the village went to Beijing to validate the Fa. This terrified the local police substation and the village officials. Ever since then, they have harassed these practitioners' families one by one. They force practitioners to go to the village office every day, and closely watch them in case they go to Beijing. On May 13, 2001, all Falun Dafa practitioners in the village did the exercises together, and have exercised together everyday since then. On the evening of June 2, village officials and police arrested 15 practitioners, and detained them for 16 days. On April 25, 2002, police arrested one practitioner, and ransacked his home. Twelve more practitioners were arrested at midnight of that same day. They held a brainwashing class the next day, but 11 practitioners escaped from it on April 27, and became destitute and homeless for a while in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home. Later they returned to their homes one by one.

An account from Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Zhanyu from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous District regarding his family's situation:

In January 2001, our family had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home. I was abducted on October 16, 2001 in Gai County, Liaoning Province, and detained in the Gai County Detention Center for 119 days. Police then sentenced me to one year of labor camp, and I endured numerous rounds of torture in the Tumuji Labor Camp in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous District. I held to my beliefs firmly. Police saw that there was no hope in reforming me, so they left me alone. They did, however, extend my term for one month. Recently, my wife was arrested and sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp for two years for clarifying the truth. My first son Liu Fuli and second son Liu Fuming were abducted by police for clarifying the truth in Tuquan County in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous District. Both were sentenced to three years in labor camp, and are now detained in the Bao'anzhao Prison. My third son has also been sentenced to 18 months in labor camp. Now my fourth son and I are destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home.

The ruthless officials and police in Wuji County, Hebei Province followed the orders of Jiang and his regime, and have arrested Falun Dafa practitioners since July 20, 1999. They tried to brainwashing practitioners, and extort 5,000-10,000 yuan from each practitioner. They would send firmly cultivating Dafa practitioners to labor camp, or prison. Since October 1, 2003, many Falun Dafa practitioners have been arrested and sent to brainwashing classes. Three among them were sent to labor camp, and practitioner, Mr. Zhang Longhair was sent to prison because he went to Beijing to say a fair word for Falun Dafa, and clarify the truth.

The following is excerpts from the article, "The Facts Surrounding the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province."

-Ever since July 20, 1999, the evil in Qinhuangdao Harbor Inc. has sent more than 22 Falun Dafa practitioners who were employed by the company to a detention center, six to labor camp, and more than 10 to brainwashing class. During 2001, the ruthless officials held many brainwashing classes together with the city "610 Office" in Jiangang Hotel.

-Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhao Changyun is an employee of the Fufa Glass Plant of the Yaohua Glass Company in Qinhuangdao City. She has been detained many times for validating the Fa, and became destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home. In the spring of 2002, she went to her employer to get money, was blocked by security, and arrested by the "610 Office." She was sentenced to three years of labor camp. Mr. Sun Zhangzhu, who worked for the same employer as his wife, and his family of three went to Beijing to validate the Fa at the end of 2000. He was sent to labor camp, and is now out on parole for medical treatment since his life is in danger from the torture he was subjected to. His daughter was admitted by a university, but police would not allow her to go. Another employee of the same company, Ms. Liu Jinfen's home was ransacked because she validated the Fa. She is over 60 years old, and has had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being unlawfully arrested at home.

-Qinhuangdao City Commercial Bank Director Fan Zhigui (male) together with the city's "610 Office" persecute Falun Dafa practitioners who are employees of the bank. They requested that several thousand employees declare that they oppose Falun Dafa, and try to force these Falun Dafa practitioners to give up practicing, under the threat that they will lose their jobs. Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Bi Yanzhen, employee of the bank, was persecuted the worst. She has been arrested 10 times, detained, and sent three times to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. She was released only after almost dying from the cruel torture.

The ruthless officials in the Huludao City Zinc Plant have followed the orders of Jiang and his regime, and persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners with fines, fired them from their jobs, sent them to brainwashing classes, ransacked their homes, sent them to labor camps, and so on. Twenty-seven practitioners have been sent to labor camps. More than 30 have been detained or sent to brainwashing classes. More than 40 have been fired from their jobs, or put on suspension, had their salaries or retirement pension withheld, and 14 were forced to change jobs.

Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Xue Zhanying in Datong City, Shanxi Province was sent to labor camp for one year in 2001, and jailed in the Xindian Women's Labor Camp in Taiyuan City. Police locked her in a solitary compartment, instructed drug addict prisoners to beat her up for 12 days, and prohibited her from sleeping. They beat her with bamboo sticks and metal hooks, until her body was covered with dark purple bruises. Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Niu Lanyun was sent to the same labor camp for one year in 2000. She went on hunger strike for 56 days to protest the brutal beating there, and was force-fed every day. She was also confined in a solitary compartment. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Ma Yueying from Hunyuan County, Datong City was often deprived of sleep by police in the same labor camp, forced to stand, and beaten up. Retired employee of Yangquan City Chemical Factory, Ms. Yang Guizhen was sent to this labor camp in 2001 for two years. During those two years, 23 months of her retirement salary was withheld, and she was harassed, beaten and cursed, shocked with electric batons, and deprived of sleep.
