Facts of the Persecution

Hua Shuangyu [gender unknown], a Falun Dafa practitioner from Zhuanghe Town, Dalian City, Liaoning Province has been detained and money has been extorted from him/her repeatedly. In the summer of 2001 Hua Shungyu was arrested again, and after being detained for several months, he/she was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Now Hua Shuangyu is jailed in the Huazi Prison in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province.

Ms. Zhu Xia, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, has been detained multiple times just because she steadfastly practices Falun Dafa, and speaks up for Dafa. She was sentenced to 18 months in a labor camp. She was inhumanely tortured in the Nanmusi Labor Camp in Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. She was dragged on the ground, which resulted in her back, legs and buttocks being covered with bloody rocks and dirt. When her term ended and while she was in Chengdu City, someone from the Guangrong District "610 Office" named He Yuanxuan used deceptive means to lure her to the Xinjin Brainwashing Class on June 9, 2003 ["610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems]. He has not allowed her family members to visit her. Her family finally received a call from her on October 31, 2003. Her voice was very weak, and it was hard to make out even one of her sentences. She is still being detained in the brainwashing class now. Her family saw that she lost 60 kilograms [132 pounds], and was only skin and bones.

On the night of January 2, 2004, police under the direction of the "610 Office" in Hengshui City, Hebei Province arrested five more Falun Dafa practitioners in Zhaoqiang County, Hebei Province. They were Ms. Meng Xianchun, Mr. Wang Yanqin (husband of Meng), Mr. Cai Baozhu, Ms. Gong Xiuli (wife of Cai), and Ms. Liu Hongluan (former acclaimed teacher from the No. 2 High School who had become destitute and homeless for almost two years in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home) in Zaoqiang County. On January 3, 2004 police stormed into Ms. Chen Yu's sister's home, and abducted Ms. Chen Yu, a Falun Dafa practitioner. Police also arrested Chen Yu's husband because he tried to stop police from taking away his wife. The police took the taxi car that was Chen's family's only financial resource. On January 5, 2004, police arrested Mr. Sun Liangsheng (former acclaimed teacher from the No. 2 High School, who had become destitute and homeless for almost two years in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home) and Mr. Kang Yanxiang (employee of the City Science Committee, and Liu Hongluan's husband) among others in Zaoqiang County.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Guang was detained 11 times between November 1999 and April 2000. On April 25, 2002, Li was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where he served a two year term, with an extension of two months. He was only home for one day after being released on February 7, 2002 before police used deceptive means to lure him to the Huangjia Substation, and then sent him to the Nanpiao District Detention Center, where they detained him for 36 days, and extorted 350 Yuan from him [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China]. Li was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home.

In November 2003 Lianxin Neighborhood Office workers in Chengdu City stormed into Ms. He Zhenxiu's home and forced her write a letter guaranteeing that she would stop practicing Falun Dafa. He was sentenced to four years in prison at the beginning of 2001, and is still jailed in the Deyang Prison. His teeth were knocked out, and he is often covered with wounds from the beatings. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Yongmei was abducted in 2001 and detained in the Jiangyang Detention Center. After she was released, however, she was abducted again in the summer of 2001 while she was clarifying the truth to people in Huayang, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She was sentenced to four years in prison, and is now jailed in the Luodai Prison.

- An eyewitness account of the persecution:

On April 25, 2000, after I was abducted and brought to the Masanjia Labor Camp, I personally saw how Falun Dafa practitioners are being brutally tortured there. Ms. Zhao Suhuan, a Falun Dafa practitioner, had many scars on her arms and body from where the police had beaten her. She was once shocked with electric batons by police for five days in a row. Her head became swollen as if she was wearing a thick cap. Her face was swollen until it was unrecognizable. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Zou Guirong, was tortured to death. She was only 38 years old, and was a resident of Fushun City. Ms. Su Juzhen, a Falun Dafa practitioner in her forties and a resident of Suizhong County, has been tortured to the point of becoming mentally incapacitated. The current situation of Ms. Wang Li, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Huludao City, is unknown. Around 2:00 a.m., I often woke up hearing terrible cries. Police instructed seven or so collaborators to beat up Dafa practitioners [collaborators are former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture]. They often beat practitioners in the restrooms when others are fast sleep, in order to avoid people hearing their crimes.

- The child of Ms. Liu Dongmei, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shulan County, Jilin Province, recounts her horrifying abduction:

One day, near the end of September 2003, Township Party Secretary Gao Yunfeng and Director of the Police Substation Sun Hongbo brought four police officers to our house to arrest my mother. My mother refused to cooperate with them. They then slapped her face, and kicked her twice. They took her to the Qilixiang Substation, and then sent her to the Shulan Detention Center. They bypassed all legal procedures in arresting her and searching her house. Then they sent my mother to the Changchun Women's Labor Camp without notifying our family.

An excerpt from an open letter to the Hong Kong Government by Mr. Feng Zhiwen, a resident of Hong Kong:

During this New Year, I hope all government officials will help rescue my wife Fu Xueying. At the end of October 2003 she was detained in the Nanshan Police Station in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province for passing out Falun Gong VCDs. My wife was a model citizen in Hong Kong, who never violated the law, and who deserves protection by the Hong Kong government. She had two terminal illnesses, plus Meniere's disease since she was 12 years old. When she started to practice Falun Gong in 2001 her body became healthy and her disposition became more peaceful. The right to know is a citizen's right that is bestowed upon him or her by the constitution. My wife's actions should be praised.

Recently, Mr. Xu Naiwen, a Falun Dafa practitioner and an employee of the Harbin Boiler Factory, went to the administrative offices of the factory to clarify the truth to all officials, and to request that he be paid all of the salary they withheld from him and all of the money they extorted from him during the past few years.
