One Practitioner's Experience of the Persecution

[Guangdong Province] Before she started practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Zeng Yuefang suffered from scurvy and hyperthyroidism. Doctors said she could not be saved. But after practicing Falun Gong, all her diseases disappeared. When the persecution of Falun Gong started in China, she was fired from her job at Huizhou University even though she was pregnant. Ms. Zeng later suffered a miscarriage because of malnutrition. Her husband could not bear the government pressures and eventually asker her for a divorce. Alone and helpless, Zeng took her daughter and went to live with her Mother in Xingning, Meizhou City. Here they lived a meager existence. On May 5, 2003, on the bus to the county capital and while holding her daughter, she told the other passengers on the bus about the benefits she had gained from practicing Dafa. However the Xingning Public Security Bureau agents arrested her. Without following any legal procedures, the Chinese government sentenced Zeng to a forced labor camp, where she is still being detained.

Public Opinion

Witnesses Describe the Lies Presented in the TV Series "Life Has No Sins"

Deceiving the international media when an American reporter came to investigate the conditions in the Xinan Forced Labor Camp: Police emptied the "library," a room beside the auditorium that was never used, and then found several people whom they thought would give "reliable" interviews. The people interviewed only said what the police told them to say. After the American journalists finished taking pictures, everyone returned to their normal living places and continued with their work.

Hard Labor: Police officers frequently violate the normal work schedules and make use of the free labor to earn extra money by exporting the manufactured goods. They enforce daily quotas on practitioners, which practitioners have to work until late at night to meet. If upper level officials make an unscheduled visit, we were forced to hide the work we were doing, and would do some light handy work or just watch TV instead. In this way the police hid the truth and showed a good image to visitors.

Horrible sanitary conditions: In the summer, prisoners are only allowed to take a bath once a week. In winter, there is seldom any opportunity to take a bath. If bathing is permitted, 7 brigades must finish bathing in one morning. The daily morning and evening washing times are tightly controlled by people standing on the side and using watches to time everyone. Within minutes, over 20 people must finish their washing and cleaning using only ten faucets.

Food getting worse and worse: Since the food is very low quality, practitioners buy food and daily necessities from the Xinan Forced Labor Camp shop. But their prices are about 50% higher than the outside market, and many commodities are of poor quality. Another way money is extorted from Dafa practitioners is by forcing them to register for Computer Training Classes. If police learn that someone's family has sent her some money, they register that practitioner in the computer classes. The registration fee is 100 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan]. But actually not many classes were attended because we had to work, and no certificates were issued.

Cruel "reform": A method called "Torturing Eagle" is widely used in the Xinan Forced Labor Camp to deprive detainees of sleep. The newly arrived Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to sleep if they do not stop practicing. If practitioners still do not give up their belief in Dafa, they are forced to stand up, squat down, or raise their arms behind their backs for long periods of time; or else they are beaten by "collaborators" [former Falun Dafa practitioners who have given up their practice under severe pressure and torture and now assist the authorities in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners]. If one still does not stop practicing she is beaten by prostitutes or drug addicts. Those criminals are merciless and hit the practitioners wherever it will hurt the most. Finally, the determined Dafa practitioners are sent to the Intensive Training Group to suffer more torture and abuse.

Experience Sharing between Dafa Practitioners

[Shandong Province] On July 6, 2003, some Dafa practitioners in a residential district of a city successfully held a Dafa-study and experience sharing conference.

Practitioners openly exchanged their own or fellow Dafa practitioners' experiences in the truth clarification process. The abilities bestowed by Teacher were brought into full play. All practitioners were encouraged by each other.
