Facts of the Persecution

To persecute Falun Gong practitioners, the First Forced Labor Camp (Pingantai) of Gansu Province used various torture techniques. While the authorities of the camp pretended to be kind, they directed drug-addicted prisoners to beat, curse, torture, and persecute Dafa practitioners. When Dafa practitioners were denied meetings with their relatives, the forced labor camp lied to the public, saying that Dafa practitioners refused to meet with or even recognize their relatives. Dafa practitioners were routinely humiliated, discriminated against, intimidated, and pressured. Camp authorities also utilized the media to publicize false reports about how it treated Dafa practitioners civilly and humanely, covering their vicious crimes and deceiving kind people with lies.

News from around the World

Several Falun Gong practitioners from the greater New York City area wrote an open letter to General Zhang Hongxi, New York's Chinese Consul General, who will soon be retiring. During the past four years, Consul General Zhang has been in the forefront of Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners overseas. He has defamed and slandered Falun Gong on every occasion, regardless of relevance, continually stirring up hatred towards Falun Gong in the Chinese American community. He has also written letters to local governments in America, viciously slandering Falun Gong and its founder and demanding that cities cancel their humanitarian support of Falun Gong and cease their condemnation of Jiang Zemin's suppression of Falun Gong. Consul General Zhang's actions have well exceeded the boundaries of his position and seriously violated the legal rights of Falun Gong practitioners both in America and overseas. The hatred ignited within the Chinese American community has negatively affected Falun Gong practitioners' normal lives and interfered with their rights guaranteed to them by the US Constitution. The public will soon discover the truth about Falun Gong. When facing a well-developed society that is governed by laws, no one who participated in the persecution of Falun Gong will be able to escape punishment! Jiang Zemin is already being sued for genocide in a US federal court. The power of justice from all over the world is bringing the instigator of the persecution and the officials who participated in the persecution to justice.

News from China

Looking back to July 14, 1999: In order to safeguard Dafa and at the same time to safeguard citizens' basic rights entitled by laws, several thousand Dafa practitioners from Weifang City and the surrounding areas went to the appeal office in Weifang City and peacefully sought justice. In the end, they received an official written response (a formal document with an official seal) from the city government on July 15. The document included such promises as: Falun Gong was not to be attacked in publicly circulated newspapers and periodicals, Falun Gong practitioners were allowed to practice the exercises in public areas, the internal circulation of Falun Gong materials was allowed, and appealing practitioners would not be attacked or subject to revenge. This was five days before Jiang Zemin launched the "July 20" comprehensive persecution in 1999. Five days later, all the volunteer instructors of the Falun Gong exercise sites nationwide were illegally detained. On July 22, police all over the country began to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. This written response has become historic evidence of the suppression and deceit promulgated by Jiang's political regime.

Recently, worldwide demands and actions for bringing Jiang Zemin to justice have become more and more forceful. Falun Gong practitioners have even sued Jiang Zemin and his "610 Office" for murder, torture, and genocide, an unprecedented event. Under the Association of China Constitution, the Judicial Observer also submitted a suit to the People's Congress of China, suing Jiang Zemin for his violations of the Constitution, including his act of treason--selling the nation.

Reference Material: Most of China Ignorant of Hong Kong's Resistance to Article 23. Before July 1, the public outcry against enacting Article 23 dominated the major media in Hong Kong and overseas. In the rest of China, however, the news of this public protest against Article 23 was strictly blocked. The few people who supported it had their comments fully reported by the media in the rest of China, misleading the public into thinking that mainstream opinion supported Article 23. Because news of the protest in Hong Kong was blocked so completely, not only was the public ignorant of the facts, but also officials in Beijing and elsewhere, which led to mistakes in judgment and embarrassment. Blocking the news not only keeps the public in the dark, but also covers the government's own eyes and ears. It is bound to lead to failure if the upper levels only depend on the reports from the lower levels to understand what is going on, because the reports may lose their fidelity when they go up through different levels.
