Brutal Tortures Are Covered up With Lies

The Harbin Women's Forced Labor Camp has mentally and physically tortured Dafa practitioners for a long time. Some of the methods of torture include: forcing practitioners to sit on a steel chair without moving for extended periods of time, force-feeding, exposing practitioners to sub-zero temperatures, starving people, shaving off half of the hair, taping mouths shut, sleep deprivation, shocking with electric batons, forcing people to sit in a tub full of dirty water, slapping faces, punching and/or kicking, catapulting stones, and forcing people to kneel on a small stool without moving. While brutal tortures are occurring in the camp, the camp spreads lies to cover up its atrocities. They are included in TV programs that defame Falun Gong and mislead the viewers.

Dafa practitioners are being persecuted at the Hongweixing brainwashing center. When a Dafa practitioner is sent there, his or her employer has to pay 5,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] as "management fees," and the practitioner pays 1,200 Yuan for "room and board." The term is for two months. The Dafa practitioner's employer assigns a clerk to accompany each practitioner 24 hours a day. If the practitioner refuses to watch or participate in the brainwashing classes, he or she is forced to stand facing a wall for a long time. Those practitioners that go on long-term hunger strikes are force-fed. Collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners that have gone astray due to pressure and torture] are also used at the brainwashing center to aid in the persecution.

China News Brief

[Hebei Province] One young man, Liu, is not a Dafa practitioner but knows that Falun Dafa is good and has frequently helped Dafa practitioners. He plays Dafa truth clarifying video CDs in his home and asks people to come to his home to watch them. In May 2003, he and a passenger, along with several other young men, drove a motorcycle to deliver some vegetables. The vehicle veered off the road and down a gully for several meters and landed under a bridge. But this young man and his passenger were not injured or even scratched. Liu knew that Master Li had protected him; otherwise he might have died.

[Beijing] This year the world is experiencing an extremely hot summer. As the temperatures in the major cities reached record highs, Beijing is experiencing sultry weather. Beijing residents said they are living in a natural sauna. Right now, the high temperature, drought, and the ever increasing electrical load that causes frequent blackouts are a huge challenge to the Chinese capital.
