Facts of the Persecution

Ever since July 20, 1999, the evil gang in the City Council of Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province as headed by the Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party in charge of political and judiciary affairs in the city, Zhang Guifen and the Political Security Secretary of the city council, Jiang Zhongqin, committed one crime after another in the persecution of Falun Dafa. There have been 4 Falun Dafa practitioners tortured to death, around 10 practitioners illegally sentenced to jail terms since July 2002, around 100 practitioners illegally sent to forced labor camps since July 1999, more than 50 become homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home, numerous practitioners have been illegally fined, searched in their homes, and had money or possessions extorted from them. Numerous practitioners have been forced to quit their jobs and forcibly sent to brainwashing sessions. "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" should consider investigating all these lawless officials and police in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province who persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners and hold them responsible for the crimes that committed.

In December 2000, Police in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province held a special brainwashing session. They locked those Falun Dafa practitioners who were firm and refused to write 5 statements renouncing their belief, and tortured them for a long term. They were watched 24 hours per day. Falun Dafa practitioner Mu Chunmei had been tied between the back of two chairs. She was not allowed to be released from the chairs until she lost her consciousness. Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Defen had been locked in a solitary cell.* they cuffed both of her hands onto a iron pole, and placed her in a position that could not stand or sit for several days. Police used electric batons shocked these 2 practitioners violently. Police also let them half sit and deprive their sleep for a long period of time.

On March 18, the Wall Street Journal criticized Chinese government for hiding the facts about the outbreak of the mysterious flu-like illness (SARS) in Southern China. The report pointed out that over the past 4 months this illness has been spreading in southern China. Chinese government has been hiding the outbreak from the very beginning of the epidemic, and local patients, medical professionals, foreign tourists, and even international experts were all kept in the dark. * Solitary cell: The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night the rats are running around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
