Facts About the Persecution

On January 12, 2003, police officer Gao Yuchen and another officer from the Xiyao local police station, Northern Sub-Branch, Tangshan City Public Security Bureau, used the excuse of checking the registry to illegally seize Dafa practitioners Guo Xiaohui and An Zhenjie while they were making Dafa truth-clarification materials. The officers did not state any reason for the arrest, nor did they notify the practitioner's families.

In 1999, my mother, eldest sister and I went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. We were illegally detained, brutally beaten, and forced to stand for a prolonged period of time in a cage. During that same year my elder brother was handcuffed for one day in a local police station for appealing in Beijing. In the summer of 2000, my eldest sister was forced to attend a brainwashing session that lasted approximately 20 days. In November 2001, my mother, two elder sisters, and I were taken to a brainwashing center. My sisters refused to write the "Guarantee statement", so torture was applied to "five centers" of their bodies; that is, the centers of the head, soles of the feet, and palms. The perpetrator said that beating the "five centers" can cause death without leaving any visible wounds. They brutally grabbed my mother by the hair and then smashed her head against the wall.

Jilin female Dafa practitioner Li Shulan was illegally sentenced to two years of "re-education through forced labor" for handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials in November 2000. She is currently detained in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for an extended term. The prolonged exposure to hard labor, torture, electric baton shocks, and mental torment have caused her to lose a lot of weight, lose her appetite, and suffer the loss of feeling in over 90% of her body. The serious leg disease that started during childhood has returned, which makes it difficult for her to walk. Despite all this, the forced labor camp still forces her to work every day.

A female Dafa practitioner from Shuangcheng City went to Beijing to appeal for a second time in June 2000. She was kidnapped by the police in Tianjin City, and illegally detained in the Tianjin Detention Centre. The perpetrators brutally tortured her, forced her to stand for long periods of time, and deprived her of sleep. Her whole body was left covered in bruises, and her leg muscles ceased to function. She has still not recovered the ability to walk.

A Dafa practitioner and former traffic police officer from Huludao City was dismissed from his job because he practices Falun Gong. He has been illegally detained several times, and was forcibly sent to Kangning Psychiatric Hospital in Jinzhou City in 1999. He was tormented for three months, and barbarically injected with drugs used to treat neuroses. In December 2000, he went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. He was detained in Shijinshan Detention Centre and suffered all means of torture that caused perforation of his eardrums, serious injury to his lower torso, and injuries to his legs that make it impossible for him to walk. During the winter when it was -10^o C or colder, some prisoners stripped off his clothes and poured piercingly cold water over his body for nearly an hour. In 2001 he was illegally sentenced to three years of re-education through labor, and sent to the Hulutao City Forced Labor Camp. Here he was forced to do hard labor, exposed to brainwashing, repeatedly shocked with electric batons, and brutally beaten.
