(Clearwisdom.net) According to a Washington Post report on Sunday, February 9, 2003, written by Michael D. Shear, even as they race to complete action on thousands of Virginia-related bills in this year's 46-day session, lawmakers in the commonwealth are keeping their fingers on the pulse of the nation and the world. Below are excerpts from that article.

"This is about Virginia residents who are being persecuted," Del. Viola O. Baskerville (D-Richmond) said, as she pushed for sending a resolution to China calling for an end to the persecution of the Falun Gong spiritual movement. "We need to send a signal . . . that we support their fight."

The resolution passed 15 to 2 in committee and 88 to 6 on the House floor. Like the others, it now sits in a Senate committee, awaiting action and -- if passed there -- a signature from Gov. Mark R. Warner (D).
