Facts of Persecution

Because lawless police officers in Dehui City illegally extended the detention of 13 Dafa practitioners, the practitioners' families went in vain to the local judicial department numerous times to appeal. The judicial department blatantly violated the policy of "Extended Detention is Illegal Detention" as ordered by the Supreme People's Prosecutor, and refused to release the practitioners. They also held an illegal trial of the practitioners on November 14. The families were forced to climb the ladder of bureaucracy and appeal to higher government agencies that refused to respond. The families then went to Beijing to appeal. After many difficulties, the Supreme People's Prosecutor wrote and asked the provincial legal department to solve the issue. When they learned the families went to Beijing, the Dehui City Public Prosecutor and the city government officials were in trepidation. They conducted so-called "investigations" to exert pressure on the practitioners' relatives, and the local police harassed the relatives by knocking on their door in the middle of the night.

The perpetrators at the No. 3 Labor Camp in Henan Province torture Falun Gong practitioners with ropes and electric batons. Practitioners Wu Junqing, and Liu Xiangfu from Luohe City were tortured until their knuckles became numb, and their feet were swollen and they could not walk. They could not even hold a bowl when eating, and they could not take care of themselves for a long time. Practitioner Li Xingcheng from Nanzhao, Nanyang City was tied up with seven ropes that cut into the flesh on his wrists, and his wrists became severely swollen. Dark scars remained afterwards.

Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Baoshun, ethnic Hui from Dongying City, Shandong Province had a happy family. On October 1, 2000 Zhou went to Beijing to clarify the truth and was arrested by police in Tiananmen Square. He was sent back to Dongying City and was illegally detained. Later they sent him to a forced labor camp for three years, during which time he was savagely tortured, both physically and mentally. His private property was taken away. Currently, to avoid arrest, Zhou cannot return home.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Luo Zuhua, 71, was a deputy division head. Because she persisted in Dafa practice and actively clarified the truth, she was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor in December 2000. After her term expired, perpetrators from the Guiyang City "610 Office"* arrested her and then sent her to a brainwashing class held in Lannigou. She has been detained for more than one year past her term, and the perpetrators still refuse to release her. It was learned that Luo Zuhua refused to give up her belief and the perpetrators plan to detain her for a long time.

Facts of the persecution in Anhui Province: Someone reported Dafa practitioners Ms. Wang Minghui and Ms. An Xiuli from Ningguo City, Anhui Province. They were abducted while distributing truth clarification materials. The police claimed they would send these practitioners to a forced labor camp. After more than one month of detention, Wang Minghui escaped from her captors with the power of righteous thoughts. An Xiuli and Chen Shuting are still being detained.

Facts of the persecution in Liaoning Province: Dafa practitioner Ms. Lu Guifang is a retired worker from the Yingkou Cigarette Factory in Liaoning Province. On January 25, 2002 police arrested her husband, her son, and herself. These captors from the Dalian City National Security Bureau broke into her home. They illegally sentenced her to two years of forced labor. On March 8, 2002 Lu Guifang was transferred to the notorious Masanjia Labor Camp. In late April she showed symptoms of severe illness and the labor camp authorities asked her family to take her home. She was bedridden after she returned home, and passed away on November 26, 2002 at the age of 63.
