On Monday evening, over 100 Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners gathered in Chater Garden to support the fellow practitioners being tortured in Jilin prison. Some of them marched to the Hong Kong government headquarters, read out loud an appeal letter from all practitioners to Chinese President Hu Jintao and Primer Wen Jiabao, and they asked the Hong Kong government to pass on the letter. They urged the two new leaders to withdraw policies of persecuting Falun Gong and immediately release all Falun Gong practitioners being illegally imprisoned.

Falun Gong practitioners wrote in the letter, "Over one hundred practitioners in Jilin Prison are now on hunger strike to protest against the brutal torture. Mr. Liu Chengjun, a practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province, is now in grave danger. On March 5, 2002, Mr. Liu intercepted the Changchun cable TV signal and broadcasted Falun Gong truth-clarification programs. His purpose was to break through the information blockage by the Chinese government and help people learn about the truth of Falun Gong. As a result, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison. While in detention, he was brutally tortured and is now in critical condition." "The persecution against Falun Gong was initiated by Jiang Zemin and based on lies and blocking the news. The criminals, including Jiang, must be brought to justice. Their crimes include their attempt to eliminate Falun Gong practitioners and destroy the Chinese people's morality, sense of justice and conscience."

After dark, the practitioners lit candles and mourned for those fellow practitioners who were tortured to death. The exercise demonstration and posters attracted passers-by to stop and look.

On Wednesday, November 5, before the meeting of legislative committee, Falun Gong practitioners held a sit-in appeal to support those fellow practitioners on hunger strike in Jilin prison. They unfurled banners and posters calling for their release, and handed over appeal letters to legislative committee members. They hoped the members would pay attention to the Mainland practitioners' plight, help stop the persecution of Falun Gong and urge Chinese regime to release all practitioners being imprisoned.
