Truth about the persecution

1. Dafa practitioner Mr. Hua Haiyu, 59, worked at the Materials and Equipment Company affiliated with Daqing City's Petroleum Administrative Bureau. Because he refused to give up his belief, he was detained at both the Longfeng Detention Center and Sa District Detention Center in Daqing City. Later he was sent to Dulitun, but the authorities in Dulitun refused to take him because he was on the verge of death from torture. On December 6, 2002, Hua Haiyu was released. On May 5, 2003, he died from severe injuries sustained from the torture.

2. For the past few months, the perpetrators at Division Two in the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp have been slapping Dafa practitioners' faces. The situation has degraded. The guards as well as inmates often beat Dafa practitioners in other ways. In August, Dafa practitioner Guan Xingxian was slapped until he became deaf in both ears. Practitioner Yan Yucheng was beaten until he could not walk. In 2002, practitioner Sun Xianming was beaten so severely that his arms were broken and he was disabled. In April 2003, a guard beat practitioner Pan Wei with a triangular-shaped belt and a pickax until the practitioner threw up and defecated blood. In August, practitioner Shao Weixin was beaten until his face was deformed.

3. In early October 2003, 34-year-old female practitioner Li Jianying from Group Eight, Qilong Village, Xinglong Town, Longquan District, Chengdu City, and another female practitioner with the surname Ai were abducted and sent to a brainwashing class. They were detained in solitary confinement, and monitored by two guards for each practitioner. The guards play Dafa-slandering videos daily and claim they will not release the practitioners until they write the three statements.1 Li Jianying didn't cooperate with the evildoers and has been on a hunger strike for several days.

4. In January 2000, Practitioner Mr. Wang Huaxiong from Chenghuang Town, Hanchuan City, Hubei Province went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. After he returned, Liu Jixiang, a division head at the Hanchuan City Police Department beat him savagely and sent him to the No. 1 Detention Center in Hanchuan City. He was released in July 2000. In September 2003, he was arrested while sitting by the riverbank doing Dafa exercises and on September 30th he was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor.

5. Perpetrators at the Jinan City Female Prison use brainwashing, sleep deprivation, slave labor with extended work time, and increasing amounts of work to destroy Dafa practitioners' righteous thoughts. They also force the practitioners to squat, and don't allow them to use the restroom. Su Cuihua, Wang Guixiang, Gu Haimei, Li Xiuzhen and Yue Meiyun are among one dozen practitioners who had their mouths sealed with tape. They were sent into solitary confinement where the guards shocked each one of them with seven electric batons.

Dafa practitioner Li Xiuzhen from Anqiu City was sent to the Jinan Female Prison in January 2002 where she was detained in solitary confinement and was shackled to a metal chair. She was tortured until her weight dropped to about 70 pounds and she could not walk. After an eleven month hunger strike Li Xiuzhen broke out of the prison with righteous thoughts.

Practitioner Zhang Zhigang in Jinan City was monitored by collaborators2 around the clock; they forced him to sit on a very narrow stool all day.

6. The Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class in Lanzhou City is a demons' den where Dafa practitioners are subjected to torture and brainwashing. For the last brainwashing session, Forty-eight abducted Dafa practitioners were sent there; now eight practitioners remain.

Around the National Holiday of October 1, persons from the "610 Office"3 and police from Lanzhou City illegally arrested Dafa practitioners and planned to hold another brainwashing class. Many practitioners have already been arrested. Practitioners are detained in solitary confinement in the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class. The enforcers don't allow practitioners to sleep; they hang the practitioners up by their handcuffs to try to force them to write the Three Statements. Detained practitioners are currently holding a hunger strike. We hope Dafa practitioners can resist the persecution as a whole body.

7. On August 1, 2003, a special division, called the Sixth Division, was used to persecute Dafa practitioners. It was started in the Hehuakeng Labor Camp in Tangshan City. On September 1, a "fortification group" was founded. The perpetrators force Dafa practitioners to sit on small stools for fifteen to sixteen hours each day; they beat and curse the practitioners and allow them only two hours of sleep each day; they force the practitioners to stand and squat in military posture; they poke the practitioners' arms with chopsticks and poke their ears with hard objects; they poke the practitioners' ribcage and use smoke to overwhelm them; and they burn the practitioners' body with lit cigarettes and burn their facial hair with cigarette lighters. Currently, ninety three of the most steadfast Dafa practitioners in Hebei Province are detained there. In order to achieve the so-called "100% reform rate," the labor camp has cut all telephone lines. Dafa practitioners are currently preparing for a group hunger strike to protest this illegal detention and persecution.

8. Mao Bofan, head of the Political and Security Section for the Pingjiang Police Department in Yueyang City, Hunan Province ruthlessly beats Dafa practitioners. He orders abduction and illegal arrest of Dafa practitioners and confiscation of the practitioner's property. He also fines the practitioners. Most arrest orders and sentencing of forced labor for practitioners in Pingjiang County went through Mao Bofan.

Chen Meihua, a vicious female police officer at the Pingjiang County Detention Center, acts particularly cruel toward Dafa practitioners. She often locks elderly practitioners in solitary confinement. These cells are small, freezing cold in the winter, and infested with bugs and mosquitoes in the summer. Practitioners are not allowed to use the restroom during solitary confinement. This officer often forces practitioners to stand against the wall, stand for a long time, or do push-ups. She also kicks the practitioners, drags them across the room, and shocks them with electric batons.

When the perpetrators search practitioners for Dafa scriptures, they force the Dafa practitioners to take off all their clothes, including underwear and even sanitary napkins for women practitioners. When the practitioners held a hunger strike, female officer Chen Meihua ordered male inmates to force-feed them. In the winter, they poured salt-water and watery porridge all over the practitioners, then pried their mouths open with pliers. The practitioners' mouths bled profusely, and the force-feeding caused excruciating pain.

1 Three statements (also called guarantee or repentance statements) are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by Chinese authorities to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners be appropriately brainwashed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practices Falun Gong. This system was concocted by the "610 Office."

2 Collaborators: former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to torture and brainwashing

3 "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
