Since July 1999, the "610 office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and the public security bureau in Qinhuangdao City have been rampantly persecuting Dafa practitioners. At least five Dafa practitioners were tortured to death, and several hundred were detained, sent to forced labor camps or sentenced to jail. Many are left with broken families. Dafa practitioners have no way to appeal as granted by the Chinese Constitution or request fair legal treatment. Some of the practitioners' family members (who don't practice Falun Gong) were even stopped by Dafa practitioners when they intended to seek revenge from the police for torturing their loved ones.

Many Dafa practitioners illegally tried

Wu Xinfei, female, in her forties, was an employee of the Qinhuangdao Electric Motor Company. She went to Beijing to appeal many times, and was detained and suffered a variety of tortures at the hands of the police. Once the transportation police branch of the Qinhuangdao City public security bureau interrogated her under severe torture, causing her to be unable to walk for many days. She was later sentenced to five years in prison.

Guo Hongshan, male, in his forties, was a policeman at the Yaohua public security branch in Qinhuangdao City. He was initially assigned as a spy to monitor Dafa practitioners, but later decided to become a true Dafa practitioner. After July 20, 1999, he and his wife went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. They were detained and then released. In May 2001, police arrested him again and tortured him relentlessly. It was reported that the beating broke one of his legs. He was later sentenced to ten years in prison.

Many Dafa practitioners illegally sent to forced labor camps or detained

Ji Yan, female, 33, was a hairdresser. For her firm belief in Dafa, she was detained many times. In 2000, she was illegally sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan City. After going on a 100-day hunger strike, she was in critical condition, her weight dropping to 25 kilograms. She was then finally released, but despite her terrible condition the police still kept harassing her at her home.

Fu Weiping, female, in her forties, was an employee of the Qinhuangdao City public bus company. While detained in the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan City, she was tortured severely during several periods of intensified persecution. Once, about ten police officers shocked her with three electric batons simultaneously, until all the three batons ran out of batteries. This torture caused her mouth to swell up horribly, and she was unable to talk or eat. She suffered brain damage, and the nerves of her legs were severely damaged, which left her unable to walk. She was finally released after repeated requests from her family. The forced labor camp officials, afraid of their atrocities being exposed, frequently went to harass and threaten her at home.

Bi Yanling, female, in her thirties, was a clerk in the Qinhuangdao City Industrial and Commercial Bank. She was fired from her post for her firm belief in Dafa, and was detained and savagely tortured for going to Beijing to appeal. In 2000, she was illegally sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp. She was beaten up, handcuffed many times, and hung up in a tree during several intensified persecution campaigns against Dafa practitioners. She was also tortured for going on a hunger strike. In May 2001, she was sent home after going on a hunger strike of over forty days, but the police kept on harassing her when she was home. In December 2001, police from Qinhuangdao City sent her once again to a forced labor camp, but the camp refused to accept her. Police then gave 5000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] to the camp to insure that she was accepted. She was badly abused in the camp, but her belief in Dafa remained firm as ever. She was finally released unconditionally.

Zhao Yuhuan, female, in her thirties, was a teacher in the seventh middle school of Qinhuangdao city. For her firm belief in Dafa, she was detained several times. In 2001 Ms. Zhao was sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan, and suffered from repeated torture and abuse. Later she was transferred to the Gaoyang forced labor camp for further persecution, and was sent home after she was tortured almost to death. Not long after, police sent her to a brainwashing center but nothing could force her to change her belief in Dafa, so the police sent her to a forced labor camp again.

Zhang Deyi, female, in her forties, was detained several times and tortured in various ways because of her firm belief in Dafa. In 2001, she was sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan, and she was beaten up by criminals for insisting on doing the Falun Gong exercises. She was sent to the forced labor camp three times, but her belief in Dafa has not wavered.

In 2000, she was sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan, where she suffered greatly. After being released, she was again sent to a forced labor camp at the beginning of 2002. With her righteous thoughts, she was released after over one month. In August 2002, when Jiang came to the Beidaihe area, she was arrested and sent to the Xiaowan brainwashing center at Shanhaiguan. Later he was sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan and suffered various tortures. He was later transferred to the Gaoyang forced labor camp, where police used three electric batons to hit him simultaneously and beat him with boards with nails in them. His body was full of scars, but he has steadfastly refused to renounce his belief in any shape or form. In October 2002 after two years and five months of detainment, he was released unconditionally.

For refusing to give up Dafa, he was sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan and suffered various tortures. Sun Shuqin, 49, and her husband are both employees of the Qinhuangdao Yaohua glass company. Their salaries have been suspended for one and a half years. The Heibei Normal School had admitted her daughter, Sun Buyang, but since she did not give up the practice of Dafa and refused to write a "guarantee," she was denied the opportunity to enter the school. The family of three has suffered huge mental pressures during the past three years. Just for speaking up for justice, Sun Shuqin was detained many times. She was also sent to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan, but was not accepted because she did not pass their physical. In July 2002, she and her daughter were arrested in a market. She was sent to the forced labor camp in Tangshan, and her daughter was sent to a brainwashing center in Shanhaiguan. Then police went to arrest her husband Sun Zhangzhu. Conspiring with the Yaohua Company, the police tricked Sun Zhangzhu by saying Sun Shuqing had been in a car accident. When Sun ran down the stairs upon hearing the news, the police arrested him and sent him directly to the Shanhaiguan brainwashing center. Sun Zhangzhu was not allowed to sleep for many days, and he was later sent to the Hehuaken forced labor camp in Tangshan City.

Li Ziying, female, in her fifties, was detained many times for her insistence on cultivating in Dafa. The abuse she suffered during this time left her quite debilitated physically. In August 2001, the police squeezed her into the trunk of a police car while she was handcuffed, and drove her about 100 kilometers to the Kaiping district forced labor camp in Tangshan. Seeing she was on the verge of dying, the camp refused to take her. Before the 16th Party Congress opened, she was arrested for no reason, detained for over ten days and later released since she was so weak. During that period, she was beaten by guards for refusing to be force-fed. Her face swelled up and was covered by bruises, and her nose was full of blood because of the forced insertion of feeding tubes.

Sun Shuxin, female, in her forties, worked at the Qinhuangdao City Ocean Monitoring Bureau. She was tortured until she suffered a mental collapse and could no longer take care of herself.

Gao Shuling, female, 48, had many of her chronic illnesses disappear after practicing Falun Gong. Since July of 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa many times, and she was arrested several times from her home. Police at the Shanhaiguan detention center burned her with cigarettes, leaving her body covered with injuries, but she has not given up her belief in Dafa.

Zuo Hongtao, male, 44, was subjected to brutal torture at the third detention center of Shanhaiguan, but he refuses steadfastly to give up his cultivation in Dafa.

According to internal information from the public security bureau, over 100 Dafa practitioners have "disappeared." The following is a partial list of the Dafa practitioners who have been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution by police:

Xie Jingzhen, female, in her fifties, was an employee of Qinhuangdao Electric Motor Company. She went to Beijing to appeal many times and suffered a great deal of torture. Since she was in a terrible physical condition, she was not sent to a forced labor camp. She left her home over three years ago, and even her family has no idea where she is.

Dafa practitioners Yang Baozhu (female), Lian Baochang, He Xiuhua (female) have not been able to go back home because of the persecution.

Sun Yang, female, in her thirties, wrote a solemn declaration after she was released from the Kaiping district forced labor camp, voiding her words and actions that were coerced under intense pressure. The police kept harassing her in her home, and she was forced to leave. Unable to reach her, the police arrested her mother and broke her arm before releasing her. Her mother's vision also deteriorated because of this abuse. Sun Yang's elder sister was also arrested.

Zhen Wenyang, male, in his thirties, was an employee of the Shanhaiguan Bridge Company. He was sent to the Kaiping forced labor camp, where he was subjected to brutal torture. Later he was transferred to the Gaoyang forced labor camp for even more intensified abuse. However, his belief in Dafa and Teacher never wavered. He was released in 2002.

The above is just a small fraction of the persecution that has happened in this area. Many more Dafa practitioners are being persecuted. These cases are being exposed to let the world know about the unjust treatment of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
