(Clearwisdom.net) Gothenburg, Sweden, September 28, 2002 -- Falun Gong practitioners were invited to take part in a health and family gathering in Biskopsgarden, a suburb of Gothenburg.
Because this is a family event with many small children around, we decided to remove the exhibition materials that show the violence of the persecution. We left those that display the drawings made by Dafa practitioners in labour camps, a poem about the lotus flower inspired by practitioners who were enduring hardships in China, and information about health effects and cultivation.
Just two weeks ago a Falun Gong exercise teaching session started in this neighbourhood. Most people here had already heard of Falun Gong and the brutal persecution in China. They were clear about one thing - the persecution is wrong!
A student of anthropology studied the posters for a long time. He said that the Chinese regime was totalitarian; as such it was scared of people having their own ideas and thus Falun Gong was persecuted.
Another man came by and chatted with us. He told us that he saw us (parade and peaceful appeal) during the EU-summit meeting more than a year ago and was impressed by our peaceful actions! "During that time," he said, "rioting demonstrators besieged the whole city." We agreed that problems could not be solved by violent means.
The activity lasted three hours. We succeeded in letting people know Falun Gong better in this limited time span. Quite a few people were interested in coming to the new practice group in the area.
