Editor's note: Clearwisdom has received many heart-felt letters in the past week expressing deep concern over the politically motivated prosecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, we cannot post them all, so we have chosen the following letters as representative samples.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please allow me to discuss a matter with you that worries me very much. Recently I was astonished to see from the news that Hong Kong police mobilized many police and used excess force to deal with 16 Falun Gong practitioners. Forcibly pulling and dragging, police snatched practitioners' neck and pressed acupuncture points. Even elderly woman could not escape. The polices' manner was so rude and their tactics so repulsive that it shocked many people. These arrested people are merely peaceful Falun Gong practitioners who were holding a nonviolent appeal. Among them, four are from Switzerland. To protest Jiang Zemin regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, they came to the front of the Chinese Liaison Office and sat there quietly to hold a small-scale hunger strike to appeal to the central government. Who could image their peaceful appeal could be subjected to such savage treatment! Who could believe this could happen in Hong Kong that is promised freedom and democracy! The scene had only been seen before in Mainland China when Chinese police rounded up Falun Gong practitioners.

I was so worried. Will the freedom that was promised to Hong Kong citizens under the "One country, two systems" come to nothing under Jiang Zemin's pressure? Would the once democratic and free Hong Kong choose to bend to Jiang regime's despotic power and no longer tolerate peaceful demonstrations and persecute Falun Gong that has been applauded in over 50 countries and cultivates Truth-Compassion-Tolerance?

What worried me even more was that after the incident happened, Hong Kong police even neglected the facts and accused the 16 practitioners of obstructing traffic, obstructing justice, and attacking police. I could not believe Hong Kong police could reduce to such unreasonable conduct. Anyone who watched the video shot at the scene could tell that none of the accusations has any foundation. The fact that Hong Kong police bent to the Jiang regime's pressure and brought about this "Political Prosecution" is clear at a glance.

For the sake of Hong Kong's future, I sincerely hope that anyone who is concerned with the future of Hong Kong could resolutely resist the pressure from Jiang regime and safeguard Hong Kong people's human rights that they had been enjoying.

Dear Sir/Madam,

As a Chinese person abroad with strong ties to Hong Kong, it pained me to see Hong Kong's latest actions in putting on an obviously biased and groundless trial of the 16 Falun Gong practitioners, who have done nothing more than exercise their right to peacefully appeal. If these peaceful, well-intentioned people are locked up today, what is to keep the Jiang regime in China from throwing anyone else in jail for such so-called "crimes" in the future? How could pursuing "Zhen-Shan-Ren" be a crime, and if it is labeled a crime, what does that say about the society that labels it a crime? I hope that for the sake of the future of the people of Hong Kong, you will do what you can to help exonerate these innocent Falun Gong practitioners.

Sincerely,

Dear sir or madam,

I just received a Master's degree from The University of Texas at Austin. I am very concerned about the current trial of Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong. As you know, Falun Gong was made public in 1992, and it was persecuted in 1999. It attracted more than 100 million people during the 7 years. President Jiang is very jealous about it, and regards it as a threat to his power. It is unfair to persecute someone who tries to be a good person, who believes in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, who practices Falun Gong.

During the three-year persecution, Jiang used propaganda to brainwash and deceive people. The Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong appealed in a peaceful way in the past three years and they were never persecuted. This time they appealed in the same peaceful way, but they were persecuted simply because Jiang was offended. Hong Kong's good reputation for freedom and democracy is under serious attack. Jiang thinks that his political power is the most important thing. He is wrong because his heart is full of evil, selfishness and jealousy. In fact the most powerful thing is a heart full of compassion. This is why Falun Gong practitioners are so determined when they face persecution, and why so many people around the world love this exercise and support it.

Whether you have a righteous mind at this urgent moment will determine your future. I hope you can make a right decision.

The whole world is watching Hong Kong!

Sincerely,

Dear Hong Kong official,

My name is Luke, and I am a simple man from the United States, specifically Oklahoma. I live in a small town, and live within a small set of rules. Falun Dafa is good. If the message of this beautiful practice has reached so far, to such a remote and simple land, such as Oklahoma, and if there is ONLY ONE country, in the ENTIRE WORLD which persecutes this peaceful practice, doesn't this seem wrong? Why is China the only place in the world against Falun Dafa.

Please consider this trial. Please don't join Jiang's senseless persecution and hatred. Please don't be deceived by China's heinous pressure. When there are people like me, millions of people like me, who all support Falun Dafa, practitioners and non-practitioners, young and old, who merely believe in being good people, why should ANYONE casually follow a regime whose desire and purpose is control. Don't let China control you; it is plain to see what is happening. Take a stand for good people across the world, as well as taking a stand for the goodness in your own people's hearts.

Sincerely,
