[Anhui Province] Anhui Mental Hospital Brutally Tortures Dafa Practitioners; Associate Professor Wu Xiaohua Held for 10 Months
The Anhui Province No. 4 People's Hospital is a mental hospital, where steadfast Dafa practitioners have been illegally detained from the fourth floor to the ninth floor. They have been locked in an iron cage without being allowed to see daylight all day long. Their relatives and friends are not allowed to visit them. Due to the severe torture, one male practitioner's legs shake continuously.
Associate Professor from Anhui Province Civil Engineering College, Wu Xiaohua, has been held there for almost 10 months. Her husband Zhang Quan once said to her,
"I really want to bail you out. But if I do that, the police will arrest me." Zhang Quan always threatened Wu Xiaohua with divorce. Wu Xiaohua is a kind and talented good wife. Zhang Quan is an artist, and a representative of the People's Congress.

On the morning of May 12, in order to welcome "World Falun Dafa Day," the great and sacred day, Dafa practitioners in a city in Northern China held large-scale Fa-rectification activities, including hanging banners, posting truth-clarifying flyers and spray-painting Dafa-related messages [note: all mainstream avenues of expression, including the press and other media, are closed to Dafa practitioners]. The practitioners traveled streets and lanes, mountains and villages, spreading the Fa and clarifying the truth. Some everyday people also participated in this Fa-spreading activity. All Dafa practitioners returned home safely with Teacher's protection.
[Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioners in Huludao City of Liaoning Province Are Abducted and Sent to a Brainwashing Class
Both Song Zhenjiang (alias) and his wife are employees of Huludao City Zinc Company in Liaoning Province. Song's 91 year-old mother cannot take care of herself so Song and his wife need to take care of her. On May 10, vicious people sent Song's wife to Xingcheng Brainwashing Class. Song was not at home, so he evaded arrest. Now he is forced to leave his home to avoid arrest, and his elderly mother was left at home with no one to care for her.
At 10 a.m. on May 10, many officials from the police department, the Zinc Company, and the community, along with more than 10 people from Zhang Hui's work unit forcibly sent Chen Zhiguo and his wife, Zhang Hui, to Xingcheng Brainwashing Class. According to inside sources, at 10:00 a.m. on May 9, Huludao City's Committee issued an order to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners, and to detain them until they write the so-called "disclosing and criticizing letter".

Police in Fuyu County of Jilin Province rampantly persecuted Dafa practitioners. In order to meet the quota given from higher authorities, the police even arrested four people who have given up practicing Falun Gong, and sent them to Changchun for "re-education" through forced labor. After coming back from visiting them, their family members said that in the labor camp, they were forced to do labor and forbidden to talk to each other in the daytime.
Bai Yun, a Dafa practitioner from Jilin, was arrested because of producing truth-clarifying materials, and was forcibly sent to Changchun Female Forced Labor Camp. She was illegally sentenced to one year of education through forced labor.
[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Police in Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp Use Rubber Clubs and Electric Batons to Beat Falun Dafa Practitioners
On April 11, 2001, ten Dafa practitioners in the Second Team of the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp studied the Fa and practiced the exercises. As a result, several dozen police officers and team leaders used rubber clubs and electric batons to brutally beat the practitioners in the office of the team leaders. Some practitioners lost consciousness due to the beating, some lost control of their bladder and bowels, and some developed large blisters on their faces after being shocked with electric batons, causing their faces to be covered with purple bruises. Even after suffering such cruel torture, Dafa practitioners held no hatred, and they treated others with kind hearts and kind deeds instead.

[Taikang County, Henan Province] Dafa Practitioners in Taikang County Persecuted Without Restraint
Practitioner Liu Xiurong from Taikang County has been detained since the end of 2001. Liu went to Beijing to distribute materials and safeguard Dafa many times. She never feared the evil. After her arrest, two of her children were left at home unattended.
A practitioner from Taikang County, Xixunmukou Town often went to the police station to post truth-clarification flyers in the evening. He was found and arrested by the policemen laying in wait for him.
Yang Shouzhi, a Dafa Assistant on North Street, Hou County also has been arrested. Yang is disabled and has been illegally detained before.
Taikang Detention Center is still detaining dozens of practitioners. A family of three practitioners from Gaolang Township was fined 20,000 Yuan last year. This high sum causes severe hardship to families in the countryside.
In March 2001, practitioner Yang Hongqi from Taikang County, Maozhuang Township was sent to a labor camp. Yang has been illegally detained before.

[Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Jianghan District Brainwashing Class Ruthlessly Tortures Practitioners
In November 2001, Gu, a Dafa practitioner was practicing the exercises. She was taken out of bed and beaten mercilessly by 6 or 7 perpetrators from the brainwashing unit. Female Warden Peng Xiaoqin is very sinister. Gu's face was badly beaten. There were blood blisters on her lips and her face was covered with blue and purple bruises. Later, she was handcuffed by force.
In April 2002, when Li was practicing the exercises, the police tore her new quilt to pieces. Peng Xiaoqin burned Li's hand with a lit cigarette. In order to resist the persecution, Li went on a hunger strike for over ten days. Finally, the vicious Peng Xiaoqin was kicked out of the brainwashing class.
[Handan City, Hebei Province] Police Commit Crimes in Hanshan District Police Station
Policeman Dang Dianjun is the Head of Political Security Section in Hanshan District Police Station. Since August 2001, he has arrested, beaten and sent many practitioners to the detention center and labor camp. He even extorted money from the practitioners' families with sums ranging from four to twenty thousand Yuan [average urban worker earns 500 Yuan monthly]. All practitioners arrested by Dang did not undergo any legal procedure and are punished at will. His office was once praised because of persecuting Dafa practitioners.
On the morning of March 23, 2002, a female practitioner in her 50's was arrested by the police from Lingyuan Police Station while distributing truth-clarifying materials. She was handcuffed for over 10 hours and sent to the Hanshan District Police Station in the evening. She refused to cooperate with the evil. At midnight, policeman Dang Dianjun conspired with two policemen to cuff her from the back. They pushed her to the ground, kicked her shoes off and beat her mercilessly. Later, they came up with another sinister way to torture practitioners that is extremely painful without leaving visible wounds. The perpetrators found a piece of wood specifically used to beat the practitioner's foot arches and acupuncture points located there. This beating was so painful it caused the practitioner to suddenly incur heart problems, which made these evil-minded perpetrators have to seek a doctor. Policeman Dang and his supervisor pressured and extorted 15,000 Yuan from her family. They did not give up until her family paid the money.
[Cheng'an County, Hebei Province] Crimes Committed by Police Station
Tian Guisheng, Yang Shihua are two evil thugs persecuting Dafa practitioners in Cheng'an County Police Department. Their major crimes are listed below:
- Breaking into homes and harassing practitioners without any charge.
- Instigating the police to abduct practitioners and infringing on citizen's human rights.
- Setting up clandestine tribunal, extorting evidence through severe torture. Forcing practitioners to write a "Repentance Statement" against their will, which seriously violates citizen's freedom of belief.
- As the Law Enforcement Personnel, they disregarded the State Law. They extorted money at will from practitioners' families to release practitioners, threatening to continue to torture them if they refused to pay. They sentenced Dafa practitioners at will and severely persecuted innocent practitioners.
- They sent two practitioners Zhai Liansheng, Zhou Zhenjie into the detention center and tortured them mercilessly. Even when they were on the verge of death, the evil people did not lessen the persecution. Their means was extremely inhuman. These two practitioners were eventually tortured to death.
[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] The Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp Beat Falun Gong Practitioners Until Disabled.
Falun Gong practitioners who are illegally detained in Class Two, Section Three of the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp have once been forced to stand for over 40 days (it happened around March 2000). Consequently, their feet and legs became extremely swollen. Some of them couldn't even put on their shoes. When they asked for a change of shoes, they were beaten up for no reason, then tied up with ropes two ropes a time. [Note: The police ties up the practitioner with a thin rope, circles the rope around his neck, and ties his hands behind his back. Then the police would use all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope becomes tighter and tighter around the body of the practitioner, and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. The pain is so intense that the practitioner sometimes loses control of his bladder. There are instances when the ropes are tightened enough to break a practitioner's arm.] After the torture, they were forced to continue standing. During the 40 days of torture, the police team leaders forced the practitioners to do drills in formation, perform military style physical training, practice parade marching and run laps, etc. Practitioners were summoned to the police office, where they suffered from electric shocks with electric prods and beatings with rubber batons. Some practitioners lost consciousness during the torture and some became disabled.
When practitioners were on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and persecution, the police force-fed them with food mixed with large amounts of salt and other drugs. After the force-feeding, practitioners had loose bowels and became too weak to get on their feet.
In 2000 (January 5 according to Chinese Lunar Calendar), two Falun Gong practitioners were forcibly dragged to the conference room, where about nine male and female policemen kicked and beat them, and tortured them for several hours using various torture instruments such as ropes, rubber batons, electric batons, etc. The two practitioners had their sweaters stripped off and were forced to stand in the shaded, snow-covered ground for an entire day with their hands cuffed behind their backs. To this today, the two practitioners haven't recovered from the internal injuries they received as a result of the torture.
In the forced labor camp, every Falun Gong practitioner is watched over by three prisoners (typically prostitutes and thieves) 24 hours a day. Their rights to life and living are being brutally violated.

[Bengbu City, Anhui Province] Tornado and Hailstone Storm Hits Bengbu City
Around 4:40 p.m. of May 27, a powerful tornado and golf ball-size hail, which had never occurred in this area before, hit Bengbu City, leaving a great mess behind. Many big trees were uprooted, and many billboards of varying sizes were blown down. More than ten electric lines were damaged, which caused a large-scale power failure in the city. Some plants (even) stopped production due to the power failure. Seven 200,000 volt and several 100,000 volt iron towers fell down. Fifty-three people were injured, with at least two deaths in the city. Crops in the area were partially damaged while 25,000 mu [a traditional Chinese unit of area which amounts to about 667 square meters] of wheat were destroyed. It caused a loss of at least 1500 million Yuan.
