Zhang Ying, female, 33, resident of Yonghong District and employee of No 2 Pharmaceutical Factory of Jiamusi City, was making copies of Falun Dafa materials when her coworker Ding Weifei tipped off the authorities of the factory, who reported her to the police of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. She was then sent to a detention center at 4 p.m. on February 5, 2001. During the two weeks she was under detention, she was interrogated four times. Her three-year contract with Asia-Pacific Pharmaceutical Factory was terminated, which resulted in her losing 78,000 Yuan in lost income [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan]. In addition, she was not allowed to write or phone anyone. On February 15, she was sent from Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province back to Yonghong Police Division of Jiamusi City, where Guo Weishan and Du interrogated her before being sent to Jiamusi Detention Center. She was released on February 16 after being coerced into writing a Letter of Guarantee, stating she would not practice Falun Gong. When she got home, she found that the police had already extorted 2,000 Yuan from her family. On October 22, 2000, she was fired by her company, and the 610 Office [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] publicized her job loss in the local media, which resulted in her insurance company refusing to pay her a total of 3000 Yuan in benefits.

Xu Chuanying, female, 68 and a resident of Yonghong District, went to Beijing to make an appeal for Falun Dafa in December 2000. She was detained at Changchun Station for two days before being sent to Jiamusi Detention Center for a week. She was released only after she paid a 3000 Yuan fine. Policeman Guo Weishan took her watch and another 400 Yuan allegedly for safekeeping. However, the items are still in his hands.

Zhang Qingjiao, female, 48 and an employee of the Geological Department of Jiamusi City, went to Beijing in December 2000 to make an appeal for Falun Dafa. She was arrested at Changchun Station and then sent to Jiamusi Detention Center, where she was held for 15 days and fined 200 Yuan. On September 3, 2001, she was again arrested while clarifying the truth to people, for which Yonghong Police Division jailed her for 26 days. She was then sent to a forced labor camp for two years even after being on a hunger strike for 26 days. She was released only because the labor camp did not want to keep a prisoner in such a weakened state of health. The main perpetrator of Zhang was Guo Weishan.

Liu Xinyu, male, 24 and a resident of Xiangyang District, Jiamusi City, was harassed by the local police at home and at work to write a letter promising not to practice Falun Gong. In July 2001, he was at home listening to a cassette recording of one of Teacher's lectures when Yang Huaijun and a policeman stormed in and ransacked his home. They took his Falun Dafa books, Teacher's portrait, and the tapes of the lectures. They also threatened to send him to a forced labor camp if he continued to practice. Liu was forced to leave home and live on the street to avoid further persecution.

Ma Guixiang, female, 37 and an employee of Jiamusi Electrical Motor Factory was arrested at Harbin railway station by the police on July 21, 1999. She was held on the sixth floor of a Yonghong District government building until 4.p.m. the next day. She was released after paying 80 Yuan. From February 18, 2000 to February 31, she was arrested for going to Beijing and appealing for Falun Dafa, held for 42 days, and had to pay a fine of 3000 Yuan as well as 840 Yuan for food before being released. Her previous employer had to pay the police 2000 Yuan for escorting her back from Beijing. Since Ma Guixiang was fired from the company she had to repay her previous employer with her savings. In July 2001, she was arrested by three policemen from Yonghong Division at a fellow practitioner's home and taken to the local police station to "reflect" for two hours. Her face was slapped while her fellow practitioner's home was ransacked, their Falun Dafa books were confiscated, and the group was fined 1000 Yuan. Ma was warned that she could not visit her fellow practitioner again.

Yu Guangming, male, 35 and an employee of Jiamusi Wanli Wood Furniture Co. Ltd, was beaten, sworn at, jailed for 3 days, and fined 200 Yuan. On January 10, 2001, he was on his way to Beijing to make appeals for Falun Gong, when he was kidnapped by the Railway Anti-Violence Brigade of Jiamusi City (near Suihua Section). He was jailed for one day and fined 500 Yuan. On January 11, 2001, the authorities of his company and the Yonghong Police Station tricked him into going to Yonghong Police Division, where they tried to force him to promise not to go to Beijing again. Refusing to cooperate, he was sent to a detention center for 30 days and his sister was forced to pay 3000 Yuan for his release. His employer, afraid that he would go to Beijing again, dismissed him. During this time, he was under surveillance and watched closely.

Wang Suhua, female, 69 and a resident of Yonghong District, was illegally jailed when she was clarifying the truth at the Provincial Museum. After she was sent back to Jiamusi City, she was jailed for 15 days until her relatives paid someone for her release. She was forced to pay 1600 Yuan. The main perpetrator was Guo Weishan

Qin Mingyou, male, 69 and an employee of Jiamusi Railway Real Estate Section, had his home ransacked by the party secretary of his company, Niu Wenqing, his books and audio and videotapes were confiscated. He was also fined 500 Yuan. He was forced to participate in brainwashing classes, had to be there on time and was not allowed to leave early. He was supposed to improve his "understanding." He has lost his freedom and his salary has been suspended.

Wang Xuechun, male, 45 and an employee of No.3 Pesticide Factory of Jiamusi City, went to Beijing on February 16, 2002. He was arrested and taken to the Resident Office of Jiamusi City in Beijing, where he was held with 20 other practitioners in a room that was 12 meters by 12 meters. The 100 Yuan he had on him was taken away. On February 21, he was handcuffed and escorted by a security guard from his company and a policeman from his hometown while on the train back to Jiamusi City. On the following day, he was sent to a detention center for 50 days. His family was forced to pay 3000 Yuan and an additional 1000 Yuan for food before he was released. He was not allowed to go back to his job. In May, he was forced to pay another 4150 Yuan to cover the travel expenses of his escorts. He only received receipts for 2117 Yuan. No receipts were given when they claimed expenses for cigarettes, handcuffs, and luggage, nor was a receipt issued for the fines he paid. Wang was robbed of over 10,000 Yuan.

Jiang Guosheng, male, 50 and an employee of Jiamusi Chemical Pharmaceutical Factory, was arrested when he went to Beijing to make appeals for Falun Dafa in September 1999. He was sent to a detention center and only released in December after his family paid a fine. During the time he was jailed, his wife and children suffered a great deal. They cried every day. By the time he got home, he had been suffering from scabies for months. In 2001, when he went to visit another practitioner, he was again arrested and taken to a detention center by a local policeman, Zhong Qiang. He was released after he went on a hunger strike for 5 days. He has lost his job since he went to Beijing and currently has no income at all.

Liu Yuzhen, female, 63, works at the Printing and Dyeing Factory of Jiamusi City. On July 2001 she was arrested while doing Dafa work. Police body-searched her without showing a warrant. They claimed that if she paid them some money they wouldn't take her to the police station. When she refused, they robbed her of 200 Yuan.

Zhao Xiuhua, female, 62, lives in Dalianhe Town, Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. On February 25, 2000, she was arrested for appealing in Beijing. In Beijing the police took 180 Yuan from her and extorted 900 Yuan for "transportation fees" (which was deducted from her husband's salary) and 5000 Yuan for a "guarantee fee." From then on, she was constantly monitored and harassed. Her daily life was seriously interrupted. The people responsible for the persecution are Zhao Shijing and Zhang Huanyou.

Jin Xigui, male, 40, works at the Yilan County Linen Factory. In October 1999, he was detained for a month by local police for appealing in Beijing. Before he was released, police extorted 2000 Yuan from him. During his detention, Jin went on a hunger strike to protest his illegal detention. Thus, criminal Sun Hui, under instructions from Zhang Huanyou, the vice police officer of Yilan County Police Station, beat him many times. On February 2000, Jin again went to Beijing to appeal and was held for 28 days in the Second Detention Center of Yilan County. There he was secured by 30-pound shackles. He went on a hunger strike for 13 days to protest such barbaric treatment. To torture him, police force-fed him with concentrated salt water twice a day. Police also extorted 5000 Yuan from his family members before releasing him. In November 2000, when he was spreading the truth about Falun Dafa in the countryside, he was arrested by the Forestry Bureau police and sent to the Yilan County Second Detention Center. He was sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp and was delivered to Halinzi Forced Labor Camp on January 20, 2001. In the labor camp, he was put into a punishment cell 4 times. He went on hunger strike 3 times. One of the hunger strikes lasted for 22 days. On the fourth day of his hunger strike, police force-fed him using a naso-gastric tube. His stomach was filled with concentrated salt water twice a day from that day on. Those responsible for the persecution include Officer Long of Political and the Security Section of Yilan County.

Li Shoutian, male, 56, lives in Dalianhe Town of Yilan County. After July 22, 1999, his movements were monitored, and his telephone was wiretapped. Police often went to his home to harass him or ransack his home without cause. On December 7, 2000, the police got him to go to the police station with the ruse that they wanted him to verify something. Li was arrested and taken to the Yilan County Second Detention Center. To extort a confession, police beat him so brutally that he passed out. He was sent to hospital for treatment. After he recovered, he was sent back and beaten again. On January 20, 2000, he was sentenced to 2 years in a labor camp without being charged with a crime. In the labor camp, he developed mange, which caused itching all over his body and made it difficult to take care of himself. From January 1, 2002, he went on a hunger strike to protest the cruel treatment. On the fifth day of his hunger strike, police brutally fed him by force, which severely injured his body. With such life-threatening injuries, he was sent to a hospital for treatment; but the hospital could not help his situation. To avoid taking responsibility for his probable death, Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp sent him home.

Pu Baoling, female, 53, is a citizen of Dalianhe Town, Yilan County. On January 13 (by the Chinese Lunar Calendar), she was arrested when she went to Beijing to appeal. Dalianhe police sent her to the Second Detention Center of Yilan County. She was released after she went on a hunger strike for 5 days. Before allowing her release, the police extorted 6000 Yuan from her family. Those responsible for these crimes include Officer Long of Political and the Security Section of Yilan County. On July 20, 2000, Pu went to the Provincial Government to rectify Fa, and was detained for 5 days. Sun Jianguo, an officer from her employer's (a coal company) Work and Safety Office, extorted 900 Yuan from her. The local police station summoned her to the station and ransacked her home on many occasions.

Gong Fengqiang, male, 31, works in area 2 of the Dalianhe Town Coal Company. In February 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal. He was arrested and sent back. Police from Yilan Police Station Detective Section beat him severely. Besides hitting and kicking, they pricked his fingers and nails with toothpicks and scraped his ribs with an iron box. They also forced him to stand in a painful stance - the upper part of his body was upright and his knees were bent at almost 90 degrees. He was jailed in the Yilan County Second Detention Center for 34 days, where police officer Liu Chen often beat him or shocked him with an electric baton. Officer Liu even threatened to throw him down a flight of stairs. He frequently vomited or lost control of his bowels because of the numerous electric shocks. He was released after officer Zhang Huanyou extorted 8000 Yuan from his family. After he returned to work, his company refused to pay him and extorted 900 Yuan from him just because he insisted on practicing Falun Dafa. On August 2000, over 20 people from Yilan County Police Station, Yilan Coal Company Security Division, and Dalianhe Town Police Station, with reporters and video cameras, climbed over his courtyard wall and ransacked his home. They even searched his wife, who was caring for their 12-days-old baby. His mother was so scared that collapsed twice because of her heart disease. When she fainted in the courtyard the police just carried the old lady into the house. Not only did they not help her, but they also took her son away without justification. Gong Fongqiang was illegally detained for 15 days and fined 150 Yuan. At the end of December 2000, Gong again went to Beijing to appeal. On Tiananmen Square he was arrested and brutally tortured. His head was stepped on by a police officer. In Fengtai Detention Center of Beijing, police beat him. He was escorted back by someone from the Yilan Coal Company. It was winter, but he was only allowed to wear summer shoes.

On his return to Yilan County, he was greeted with a beating from police officer Han Yunjie, from the Yilan Police Station Political and Safety Section. Then he was delivered to the Second Detention Center of Yilan County and detained for over 2 months. Finally he was released when his family paid 12 000 Yuan. Officer Zheng Jun accepted the money. After being released, he was often harassed by his employer. Now he is forced to leave his home to avoid being arrested.

Liu Qiyang, male, 60, works at the Dalianhe Coal Mine of Harbin Coal Company, Yilan County. On November 14, 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal. On November 16, 2000, the police sent him to his hometown and detained him for 15 days in the Yilan Detention Center. He was released only after his family paid 1000 Yuan.

Liu Yumin, male, 43, works for the Dalianhe Elementary School, Yilan County. On July 6, 2000, he went to Beijing to validate Dafa with his wife and child Liu Ning. They were arrested and sent home. While in Beijing, police questioned the child for 40 minutes. Because the child wouldn't say where he came from, the police interrogated the child repeatedly. During the first session, the police beat the child. During the second session, police seized the child's head and bumped it against the wall for half an hour. The couple were sent to their hometown and jailed in Yilan Detention Center for 37 days. During this time, they were tortured inhumanly. They were released only after family members paid a 2000 Yuan fine. Those responsible for these crimes include Officer Long of the Political Division and the Security Section of Yilan County. On December 22, 2000, local police arrested the couple and sent them to brainwashing classes held by the police station. They were detained there for 8 days and paid 1800 Yuan before being released. The person who accepted the money was Mr. Xing, the town's elementary school accountant.

Sun Hongda, male, 31, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. He was taken away by the local police on February 28, 2000 and detained for a year and a half. He was released after his relatives paid 2000 Yuan that was extorted by policeman Zhang Huanjing, who was in collusion with the Yilan County Public Security Bureau. In September 2000, Sun went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was taken back by staff from his workplace, Dayunhe Coal Mine. As a result, the Dayunhe Coal Mine withdrew 900 Yuan from his salary to pay the staff travel expenses. After that, his entire family was forced to leave home and wander the streets for more than half a year to avoid further persecution. During a period of 14 months, he only received 180 Yuan from his employer for living expenses.

Wen Yiling, female, 46, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County, Helongjiang Province. In 2000, when she was on the way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, she was arrested and sent to a detention center by the local 610 Office and Yilan County Public Security Bureau. After she was detained there for a month and fined 5000 Yuan, she was sentenced to one year in Wanjia Labor Camp of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. During her stay in this labor camp, she suffered a lot of brutal beating and cursing. Because of the torture and very bad living conditions, she lost the capacity to take care of herself and her body became infested with scabies. When she was released a year later, her health condition was so bad that she was on the brink of death. Her workplace stopped paying her salary. Her husband then divorced her to avoid frequent harassment from the local 610 Office. She suffered severe damage both mentally and physically as well as financial losses.

Sun Chengzhen, female, 57, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County, Helongjiang Province. She was taken to a detention center on June 20, 2000 because of appealing in Beijing. She was detained for 53 days until her family paid the police 3500 Yuan. During her stay at the detention center, the food she was given was scanty and of very poor quality. She was forced to work in farming and not allowed to practice Falun Gong or study the Fa. Because of practicing Falun Gong exercises, she suffered various tortures such as brutal beatings and having freezing-cold water poured on her. She was also burnt by exposure to the sun as punishment for studying the Fa. They often beat her and cursed at her almost everyday. She went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. To force her to stop the hunger strike, they tortured her with injections of medication and barbarous force-feeding with concentrated salt water. One day she suffered policemen's brutal kicking and beating when she refused to let him take her Falun Dafa books. They kicked her back violently. She was injured so severely that she was unable to even turn over for a few days.

Du Xiubo, female, 29, is a housewife living in a building that belongs to Harbin Coal Mine. She was taken from her home by the police on June 26, 2000 and detained for 57 days. The police extorted 1000 Yuan from her in exchange for her release. She was also forced to pay another 300 Yuan for "meal expenses" in the detention center. Because she firmly stuck to her cultivation practice, her husband's work place threatened to fire him if he did not divorce his wife. Since her husband was disabled and would have a very difficult time finding another job, he had no choice but to divorce Du. Her financial situation became very difficult after her husband left.

Lin Shuqing, female, 56, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County. On April 4, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was taken back to Yilan County. The police extorted 2000 Yuan. Her husband was fined 9000 Yuan by his work unit. Later she was frequently subjected to police harassment and monitoring. In January 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal again for Falun Gong and was arrested and sent to a forced labor camp. Her husband's work unit fined her 900 Yuan for "travel expenses." The main persons involved in persecuting Lin are Zhao Shijing and Zhang Huanyou.

Zhou Yan, female, 30, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County. She was arrested on her way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on June 22, 2000. She was then sent to a detention center. During her stay in the detention center, she was only given two slices of steamed cornbread for her entire daily ration. She was prohibited from reading Falun Gong books. She was sunburned when she was forced to sit in the sun for an entire day as punishment for practicing Falun Gong. To protest the illegal detention and brutal persecution, she went on a hunger strike. For this, she suffered various barbarous tortures. She was released after the police extorted 1300 Yuan from her family members. Whenever there were civic holidays or other "sensitive days," she is closely watched by staff from the Resident Committee of her community.

Yan Zixin, male, 29, was working in the Hongxin Animal Husbandry Station of Shandaogang Township of Yilan County. Because he kept clarifying the truth to the public and firmly stuck to his cultivation practice, he was arrested at his home on March 10, 2000. He was detained for 30 days. Although the quality of his meals in the detention center was very bad, he was forced to pay 300 Yuan a day for "meal expenses." He was released after his family members were forced to pay 3000 Yuan to the police. His work place discharged him from his position as the head of the station and stopped issuing his salary for 6 months. The direct financial loss was up to 2000 Yuan. The main person who persecuted Yan was Zhang Huanyou. The person who accepted the 3000 Yuan from Yan's family was Wang Shujun.

Guo Xiangyu, female, 63, lives in Shandaogang Township of Yilan County. She was arrested at her home on March 10, 2000 and suffered through 52 days of illegal detention. She was released after her family was fined 1000 Yuan. Since coming back home, she is closely watched and harassed by the local Residence Committee. The two main people involved in persecuting Guo are Zhao Shijing and Zhang Huanyou.

Li Guijuan, female, 36, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County. On June 22, 2000, she was taken to the Yilan Second Detention Center because of appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing. She was detained there for 4 months. On December 22, 2000, the Dayunhe Sub-bureau of Public Security detained her again for 8 days. During those days, she was forced to attend brainwashing classes. After she was released, she was closely watched for 3 months.

Qian Shuzhen, female, 51, lives in Hulin Township of Yilan County. One day in July 2000, when a group of practitioners were studying Fa at her home, the local police station arrested her daughter and son-in-law. They did not take her away this time; they left her at home to take care of her daughter's 10-month old child. They searched her home and took away Dafa books and a cassette player. After that, she was frequently harassed, closely watched, and was not allowed to go outside her home. Even when her relatives came to visit her, the local village Resident Committee would interrogate her about them. In May 2001 she was forced to leave her home and wander about on the streets to avoid further persecution.

Wu Guiqing, female, 36, lives in Yilan County. In June 2000, Yilan County Public Security Bureau and the Security Section of Yilan County government searched her home three times. They took away Dafa books and extorted 2000 Yuan from her.

Huo Qiuping, female, 54, lives in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County. In late November 2000, because of appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing, the Yilan County Public Security Bureau arrested her. They detained her for half a month and extorted 6000 Yuan from her. After she was released, she suffered 4 months of surveillance by the police. They frequently harassed her at her home or threatened her via phone calls. She was dismissed from the Party in 2001. Her work place tried to force her to write a statement promising to give up Falun Gong and show herself as a transformed practitioner in a TV program in exchange for her retirement benefits. When she refused to appear on the TV program, they threatened that they would only issue her 180 Yuan per month for living expenses for her daughter, son, and herself. The major persons involved in persecuting Huo are Zhao Shijing and Zhang Huanyou.

Cao Rujie, female, 29, is living in Dayunhe Township of Yilan County. On December 23, 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa. Her family members found her and brought her back to Yilan County. After she was back, she suffered her husband's brutal beating. She was locked up in her work place and not allowed to go home. Later on she was forced to divorce her husband. Because of appealing in Beijing, she was denied a company-wide raise. She also suffered 3-months detention. After she was released, her work place and the police often harassed her.
