(Clearwisdom) The Spring Festival is the most important Chinese holiday, a time for family reunions. However, the police in Jiujiang City have rampantly arrested Dafa practioners around the Spring Festival of 2002. To catch Dafa practitioner Liu Limo, the Lushan District Court, together with the local police, kidnapped several Dafa practitioners in Jiujiang County, most of whom were elderly men and women. Every intersection near the homes of Dafa practitioners was guarded by police vehicles. One police vehicle waited outside Liu's home all night. Between 3 and 4 a.m. on New Year's Day, policemen thumped loudly at the doors of practitioners and then kidnapped them. The below are some of the documented cases.

Luo Shirong, female, 62, was kidnapped and sent to the Jiujiang Financial School Hotel, where police denied her sleep and handcuffed her to the window from behind. They tortured her in order to find out the whereabouts of other practitioners. One day later, she was sent to the Jiujiang Detention Center, where she was forced to perform hard labor for more than ten hours per day. After August, she was transferred to the Shili Detention Center for forced brainwashing. She was not released until October 13, 2002, and was fined 3000 Yuan and extorted another 3320 Yuan for a "meal fee." (500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.)

When her son asked why she was arrested, these policemen grabbed him by the neck and shoved him into a wall. Wang was sent to the Jiujiang County Detention Center, where she held a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention. She was released in the afternoon of February 14 but was extorted for 1100 Yuan, including a 100 Yuan "meal fee."

Xu Meiyuan, female, 59, was deceived into going to a police station on the morning of February 10, 2002. She was then imprisoned in the county's detention center. She was released on February 14, 2002 after a 3-day hunger strike. She was extorted of 1650 Yuan, including a 150-Yuan "meal fee."

She was sent to Jiujiang City Detention Center the next day and forced to perform hard labor for more than 10 hours daily. The police had criminals monitor her, and forced her to squat down to clean the floor and wash the toilet everyday. She would be sworn at if she moved too slowly for their liking. On May 25, 2002, her children bailed her out of detention.
