1. [China] Local Officials Who Have Found Out the Truth Pay Lip Service to Orders from Higher Authorities
Some government officials in a Chinese city began to ignore orders from higher authorities after finding out the truth of Falun Dafa. Before the opening of the 16th Party Congress, higher authorities and "610 Offices" [The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] gave the order to the township government and even to the Party Committee at the village level that Falun Gong practitioners be sent to brainwashing classes. However, the local officials did not report any practitioners to their supervisors. They merely went to the practitioners' homes and had a look around. In the past, some towns persecuted Falun Gong very severely. Here though, it has been a long while since any Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested.
2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Please Help Rescue Chu Zhaoding and His Wife You Yufang
Before the 16th Party Congress, Chu Zhaoding from the Shandong Academy of Science and his wife You Yufang were arrested in Jinan City. They may be soon sentenced to prison. Their children all live in the United States. We hope that they can be rescued as soon as possible.
3. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] No.2 Hospital of Jingzhou City Force-Feeds Falun Dafa Practitioner Gu Changqin
Huludao Falun Dafa practitioner Gu Changqin was captured on May 31, 2002 in Jinzhou City. She was then illegally detained in the No.2 Detention Center in Jinzhou City for nearly six months. On November 18, about ten police cars and four prisoners carried Gu Changqin to the No.2 Hospital in Jinzhou for force-feeding. She has become so weak due to persecution that she cannot speak nor eat at all. She is still being held in the No.2 Hospital.
4. [Liaoning Province] Mayor to be Dismissed If a Falun Gong Practitioner Goes to Appeal in Beijing During the 16th Party Congress
According to sources from a city in Liaoning Province, if a Falun Gong practitioner goes to appeal in Beijing during the 16th Party Congress, the mayor of the city would be dismissed. About 15 workers from the Sierbao Town of Huludao City were ready to go to Beijing to appeal, but they were all abducted before they could leave the Huludao Railway Station.
5. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] The Anshan Forced Labor Camp Illegally Detains Falun Dafa Practitioner's Relative
A Falun Dafa practitioner from Jinzhou City is being illegally detained in the Anshan Forced Labor Camp. When his wife, a practitioner who had been imprisoned before, came to see him, the Anshan Forced Labor Camp detained her and declared, "You will be released when you are transformed."
Zhang Zhenyang, commissar of the Anshan Forced Labor Camp, is the main person responsible for this case.

6. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners Before the 16th Party Congress
The Public Security Bureau in Mudanjiang City has started to illegally search Falun Dafa practitioners' home without warrants. Sometimes, the police employed the firefighters' ladders to climb onto practitioners' balconies and break into their homes. They broke windows, illegally confiscated property and detained practitioners. So far over a dozen Falun Dafa practitioners have been abducted.
7. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Yongle Police Substation Sends Five Falun Dafa Practitioners to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
The Yongle Police Substation from the Tiexi District of Anshan City captured five Falun Dafa practitioners. They were illegally sentenced to two years and two and a half years of forced labor camp, respectively. They are currently detained in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. It has been learned that the Yongle Police Substation is currently investigating the possibility of renting rooms in the area.
8. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Beitaoguan Police Substation Extorts Money from Falun Dafa Practitioners
The Beitaoguan Police Substation extorted 1500 ~ 5000 Yuan from each Falun Dafa practitioner as collateral to insure that they did not go to Beijing during the 16th Party Congress. The money has not been returned yet. The general secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee said, "It won't be returned until you write the statement of transformation." (referring to a statement renouncing Dafa)
The director of the Qilingzi Police Substation from Qianshan District of Anshan City brutally beat up Falun Dafa practitioners. He yelled, "We don't beat thieves or robbers but only those who practice Falun Gong." When practitioners asked him the reason, he said, "Because you spoiled my Spring Festival."
Zhang Chengguo, director of the Politics and Security Section of the Qianshan Branch of the Police Department, has committed many evildoings: whenever he captures a Falun Dafa practitioner, he will beat, abuse, and forcibly interrogate him.
9. [Northeast China] Banners and Firecrackers Shock the Evil During "Falun Dafa Day"
It was the "Falun Dafa Day" in a city in Northeast China a few days ago. Truth-clarifying banners could be seen in the parks and along the streets. Some banners were put up very high and attracted many people's attention. They were surprised by the scene and marveled at how the banners got up there. Some practitioners lit firecrackers after they put up the banners. This event had a big impact among residents in the city and has become a hot topic of conversation.
10. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Cheng Longfeng Persecuted by Local Authorities
Daqing practitioner Cheng Longfeng, female, was illegally detained for four months after she went to Beijing to appeal on December 1, 2000. She had been detained in the Daqing Detention Center, the Changxi Detention Center, the Changxi Security Center, and the Daqing Temporary Shelter.
