At 9:00 am on September 27, 2002, the "Open Trial" of Dafa practitioner Liu Changyu was just starting in the Middle Court of Jining City, Shandong Province. Based on the law and his own experience, Liu Changyu solemnly expounded on the benefits Falun Dafa brings to the nation and its people. The judge was speechless after hearing Liu's words.
Before the trial, Liu Changyu requested a lawyer to represent him. The court staff said, "This has to be approved by the provincial government." The so-called "Open Trial" of Dafa practitioners was just a show trial. The court, which is under the control of the Jiang's regime, had secretly predetermined the sentences.

The security bureau personnel drive a detection vehicle around that has an antenna on the roof. If anything suspicious is detected in an area, they go door-to-door while scanning by holding this instrument. If the equipment gives out an audible signal, they immediately inform the local police substation. The security bureau people have the responsibility to locate the sites, but the police are directed to conduct the arrests.

On September 27, police from the Liangshan County Police Department of Shandong Province illegally broke into and searched the homes of Dafa practitioners Tang Jiaying and Shi Naipu. Afterwards, without any legal grounds, the police kidnapped Tang Jiaying and Shi Naipu. It is reported that Jiang's political followers arrested a large number of Dafa practitioners with the excuse of preparing for the upcoming 16th Chinese Communist Party National Conference. In order to prevent the Dafa practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal, the police department of Liangshan County intended to arrest and keep those practitioners in jail until the after the conference.
Also, the "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] of Jining City, Shandong Province illegally deprived citizens of their personal freedom and prevented them from having a legal holiday. The perpetrators held illegal brainwashing sessions during the seven-day holiday around July 1 to mentally and physically torture Dafa practitioners.

(Hainan Daily, September 29) Tropical Storm Mekkhala cost China 666 Million Yuan and affected 58,000 acres of farmland. Recently, many areas of Hainan Province received heavy rains and many storms because of Tropical Storm Mekkhala. During September 24 to September 27, the heavy rain in the mountainous area of south Hainan Province caused the eruption of floods. The middle and small rivers were all flooded. The water levels of all reservoirs rose dramatically, and caused severe flooding.
A total of 13 counties were affected. Among them, San Yan, Lingshui, Ledong, Dongfang, Wanning, Baoting, and Wuzhishan experienced the most severe flooding with 938,800 people in 113 townships affected. Twenty-five hundred houses collapsed, 58,310 acres of farmland were hit by the disaster, and the direct economic loss is estimated at 365 million Yuan.
Mekkhala has caused 180 million Yuan in direct losses to Sanya city. Four highways became unusable and 41 reservoirs were damaged.
