Du Wenfu, male, 52 years old, lives in Heilongjiang No. 6 Geological Inspecting Institute at 58 Sector, Mofan Village, Songjiang Village, suburb of Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. On July 21 1999, he was unlawfully detained after traveling to Beijing to appeal. During his detention he was illegally fined more than 1,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly salary for a Chinese worker]. On September 15, 1999, Du was detained once again because he refused to sign a letter promising to give up his cultivation of Falun Gong. He was then unjustly sentenced to labor "re-education." During these past two years, Du Wenfu has had about 40,000 Yuan taken from him.

Li Yuxi, male, 49 years old, lives in Jiangnan Village, Changqing Town, Jiamosi City. He was arrested January 29, 2000, according to the Chinese lunar year calendar, because he went to Beijing to validate the Fa [the principles and law of the universe]. He was sent to the Jiamusi Detention Center by the police in charge of his residential sub-district as well as a village official. He had to share a cell with felons and criminals on death row who forced him to endure various inhuman treatment. Criminal Dong Jiuou beat him up twice because he practiced Falun Gong exercises. Dong also looted his personal belongings. After 52 days of illegal detention, Li Yuxi was released, but not before Chen Wanyou of the city's Public Security Bureau extorted 6,000 Yuan from him. Li's family could not afford it, so they had to take out a loan.

On June 24, 2000, Li Yuxi was deceived and taken to a detention center by Wang Dawei, the director of the police substation, accompanied by a policeman named Yu Chunbao. After one month of detention, he was sent to a forced labor camp for one-year of "re-education" through labor. He went on a four-day hunger strike to resist the guard's mistreatment of him. Later, he held another 5-day hunger strike to protest the guards' confiscating his Dafa books. He was released on March 20, 2001. On May 23, 2001, Li Wanyi of the police substation at the suburb of Jiamusi City again illegally sent him to the detention center for 11 days. Chen Wanyou from the city Public Security Bureau extorted 2,000 Yuan from him. His family could not afford it and had to take out a loan in order to pay it.

Wu Yuli, female, 42 years old, is an employee of Jiamusi Railroad Steel Sand Factory. On August 4, 1999, Cui Rongli from the Xiangyang Branch of the city Public Security Bureau illegally detained her for 13 days and extorted 300 Yuan from her for a so-called meal charge. This was 20 times the actual cost for meals since she was given only two pieces of steamed bread and a bowl of soup with a few pieces of Chinese cabbage in it each day, which is far from enough to sustain a person.

On October 26, 1999, she was arrested because she went to Beijing to lawfully appeal to her government. Xu Chunfa of the Qiaoman police substation, which extorted 200 Yuan from her, took her back to the local district. She was then unjustly sentenced to three-years of forced "re-education" through labor on November 3, 1999. In the labor camp, she was forced to do strenuous manual labor for 13 to 15 hours a day, carrying bags of beans that weighed about 100 to 150 lbs. each. All she ate was carrot soup and cakes made of poultry feed. Because she was often prohibited from going to the restroom, she didn't eat her salted, pickled vegetables in order to keep from drinking water. She was beaten up every day when she practiced Falun Gong exercises. In the summer, she was forced to perform calisthenics for seven hours per day. In the winter, she was punished with "Sitting on a Brick" until 9 p.m. Xu Hengji of the Management Sector of the labor camp accused Wu of leading a group practice, so she slapped her face and punished her with "Sitting on a Brick" again. Wu Yuli held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and she was force-fed with a thick mixture of highly concentrated salt water. After someone complained, they started to force-feed practitioners spoiled milk powder. After the force-feeding, all the practitioners suffered diarrhea. One time guard Zhang Xiaodan repeatedly kicked and beat her all the way from the No. 8 Brigade to the Strictly Controlled Brigade.

Yu Fuhua, female, 52 years old, works in the No. 1 Rubber Factory of Jiamusi City. On February 22, 2000, Chen Wanyou and two other policemen from the Public Security Bureau of Jiamusi City interrogated her in a detention center. A policeman with family name of Gao beat her when she refused to answer their questions. She was then sent back to her cell. Her entire chest and back were swollen and covered with wounds that soon festered. In October 2000, she was unlawfully detained again. She was released on December 1, 2000, but not before the Yonghong Branch of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted 3000 Yuan from her. The main criminal responsible for this was Shi Xiuweng.

Lu Tao, male, 25 years old, lives in Xiangyang District, Jiamisi City. On December 1, 2000, 6 to 7 uniformed and plain-clothes policemen at Tiananmen Square beat him when he unfurled a banner. The policemen beat him with batons and kicked his body and head, covering his body with injuries. After he was sent back to Jiamusi, a policeman with the family name of Li from the Xilin police substation claimed to be sending him to a forced labor camp and asked him for 600 Yuan, saying it was for the railway ticket. Li also tried to make Lu Tao to sign a statement he wrote defaming Master Li and Falun Dafa. On December 7, Deputy Director Li from the Xilin substation extorted 800 Yuan from him with the excuse that he wanted a security deposit. After that, he again extorted Lu Tao's family members for 2,000 Yuan. Nevertheless, Li sent Lu Tao to a detention center. Lu's parents were afraid the police would send their son to a forced labor camp and hence sent 20,000 Yuan to the head of the Public Security Bureau of Xiangyang District. The police then finally released their son.

Zhang Chunjie, female, 45 years old, works in the Labor and Service Branch of the Jiamusi Railway. On June 8, 2000, she was arrested and sent to the Chaoyang Detention Center because she went to Beijing to appeal. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. However, the head of the cell, under instigation from guard Song tied her up, force-fed her, slapped her face, pulled her hair, and poured a whole bucket of cold water on her head. They also did not allow Zhang Chunjie to change her clothes and punished her by making her mop the floor, scrub the toilets, and wouldn't let her sleep. She had to spend 24 hours a day on the concrete floor. When Chunjie was sent back to the Jiamusi Detention Center, male guard Yuan Hailong pulled her hair and threw her head against the wall. He also seized her by the throat and nearly choked her to death. It took more than ten days for the impressions of Yuan's hands on her neck to disappear. Yuan also used keys to whip her, which left several wounds on her shoulders. She was released after over 40 days of detention. She had more than 400 Yuan extorted from her for a meal charge. In addition, Wang Huamin and Wang Kianmin extorted around 240 and 1,000 Yuan from her. On November 31, 2000, Zhang was arrested because she went to Beijing to appeal to government officials. She was arrested by the Yongan police substation and taken to the Jiamusi Detention Center and unlawfully detained there. They extorted roughly 2,300 Yuan from her. The people primarily responsible were Li Yanwei, Li Ping, and Wang Lianmin. The detention center also imposed a 300-Yuan meal charge. At 7 a.m. on May 24, 2001, Chen Wanyou lead a police raid at Zhang's house and illegally seized her Dafa books and a cassette recorder, and then sent her to the detention center. The detention center extorted 230 Yuan from her for meal expenses. Chen Wanyou of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted 1,000 Yuan from her.

Zhang Nan, female, 22 years old, lives at the No. 2 Group, No. 2 Sector of Qianjin District of Jiamusi City. In December 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested. The police beat her up and pushed her outdoors in the middle of the cold winter weather, and forced her do the "bend over at 90 degree angle" punishment. She was cold and tired, and eventually passed out. After she had been detained for half a month, she was sent to the Office of Jiamusi in Beijing. Policeman Li from the Qianjin Branch of Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted 150 Yuan from her. Li Yanwei of the Yongan police substation of the Qianjin Branch of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted 1,300 Yuan from a family member, and sent her to the Jiamusi Detention Center and illegally detained her for 15 days. She was released due to her poor health, yet Li Yanwei went to her place, searched her home, took 200 Yuan, and then took her back to the detention center again. Later on, she escaped from the detention center. She is now traveling from place to place and cannot return home.

Jin Yanjie, female, 47 years old, lives in the Yongan District of Jiamusi City. She was arrested on December 1 when she went to Beijing to appeal. She was then illegally detained for one month and interrogated five times. Every time she was interrogated, they would punch her and kick her so hard that her head was covered with lumps and her whole body was covered with wounds. She could hardly walk and it took her more than ten days to recover from her injuries. She declined to inform the authorities of her address. After one month of detention, they could do nothing but release her. Li Yanwei of Yongan police substation in the Qianjin District suspected that she would go to Beijing to appeal solely because he hadn't seen her for a month, and therefore took her to Qianjin Branch of Jiamusi Public Security Bureau to interrogate her. Jin Yanjie didn't cooperate with him and found a chance to escape on the way to the Public Security Bureau. After that, she has been forced to abandon her home to avoid further persecution.

Zhen Zheng (alias), female, 47 years old, lives in City. She went to Beijing to appeal in January 2000 and was arrested. She was illegally detained at the Jiamusi Detention Center for more than 40 days. She was given only two small steamed corn muffins plus a small bowl of soup made with a few pieces Chinese cabbage leaves. She was, however, charged 20 Yuan per day for food. The Political and Security Sector of Xiangyan Branch of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted 2,000 Yuan and Xilin Police Substation extorted 500 Yuan from her. Her work unit fired her. On November 8, 2000, Shi Yingwei and a policeman from Xilin police substation raided her home and deceived her into going to the police substation. They again detained her for more than 40 days and extorted 800 Yuan from her for food expenses. On February 13, 2001, she was arrested while spreading the truth about the persecution and had 3,000 Yuan extorted from her by the Yonghong Branch of Jiamusi Public Security Bureau. In June 2001, Shi Yingwei from Xilin police substation together with two other policemen forcibly took her to the Xiangyan Branch of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau. She sent out righteous thoughts and managed to escape. After that she became homeless rather than suffer the relentless persecution. On September 13, 2001, she was again arrested while distributing truth-telling materials at Huanan Township. She was illegally detained at Huanan for 60 days and was then sent to a 15-day brainwashing class in a forced labor camp. She didn't cooperate with the evil force and was released after she sent out righteous thoughts. She had 1,000 Yuan extorted from her by the "610 Office" of Huanan Township. [The 610 office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems]

Gou Fengxia, female, 38 years old, lives in the No. 35 Sector, Jiamusi City. On December 11, 2000, she was arrested on the way to Beijing by the police substation of Shenyang Railway. She was illegally detained for 3 days and had to pay a "fine" of 300 Yuan. She was arrested by Zhang Deli of the Nangang police substation, detained for one month, and extorted for 2,000 Yuan.

Wang Shumei, female, 50 years old, lives at the No. 5 Group, in the No. 10 Sector of Xiangyang District, Jiamusi City. She was arrested on May 29, 2000 when she went to Beijing to appeal. On June 4, she was taken back by the Xiangyang Branch of Jiamosi Public Security Bureau and detained for 15 days. She held a hunger strike, but was force-fed three times. When force-feeding, four to five policemen handcuffed her and force-fed her. However, they were not able to get any of the food to stay down. On June 19, the sixteenth day of her detention, the police released her, fearing that her life was in danger. The detention center extorted 200 Yuan from her for a meal charge. The Department of Organization of the local Party expelled her from the Party.

Cui Xiuyun, female, 50 years old, lives in the Qianjin District, Jiamusi City. At about 10 o'clock on the evening of November 15, 2000, policemen from the Suburb Branch of Jiamusi Public Security Bureau illegally raided her home, taking all her Dafa books and materials. The police then took her to the Suburb Branch and detained her there. On the second day, police from the Yongan police substation took her back and released her around 4 p.m. that afternoon. On December 10, 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Dafa and was arrested. She was sent to the Huairou Detention Center. The guards searched her and took 406 Yuan, would not allow her to wear clothes, took her by the hair and slammed her head into a wall. Two days later, she was sent to the Jiamusi liason office in Beijing and detained there for 22 days. She was then sent back to the local police substation and detained for 4 days (that was already her eighth day on hunger strike). She exhibited critically ill symptoms and was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. To avoid running the risk of her possible death, the police released her.

Cui Shiqin, female, 56 years old, lives in Qianjin District, Jiamusi City. On December 10, 2000, she was arrested when she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. She was illegally detained at the Huairou Detention Center. Police stripped off all her clothes and searched her. Police didn't allow practitioners to do the Falun Gong exercises and would beat and curse them if they dared to practice. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Police pulled her outdoors on a freezing winter day in December and dragged her around by the hair.

Xu Ruolan, female, 64 years old, works in the Tuberculosis Clinic of Jiamusi City. She was arrested on July 18 when she traveled to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. The police put her in the trunk of a vehicle. After she had been interrogated, police sent her to the Office of Jiamusi in Beijing. She had 1,100 Yuan extorted from her by the police in Beijing and 480 Yuan by the Office of Jiamusi in Beijing for food expenses. Later the Jiamusi "610 Office" extorted another 5,000 Yuan. The "610 Office" also illegally fined her hospital 5,000 Yuan. On December 11, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal and was intercepted by police from the substation of the Shenyang Railway. Three days later local police took her back to her district. The director of Nangaung police substation asked her to curse our Teacher. She refused and had to pay 1,000 Yuan (they confiscated her receipt).

Wang Guizhen, female, 64 years old, was arrested while clarifying the truth and detained for one night. On the second day, she was sent to a detention center and detained for 8 days. The Qianjin Branch of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau extorted a bail of 5,000 Yuan from a family member for her release.

Yang Baohua, male, 34 years old, works in a television set factory in Jiamusi City. On November 25, 1999 he was arrested when he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. He was illegally detained at the Jiamusi Detention Center for one and half months and had 2,000 Yuan extorted from him. The person responsible was Shi Xiuwen of Yonghong Branch of Jiamosi Public Security Bureau. Yang was arrested again in November of 2001 when he traveled to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was detained at Jiamusi Detention Center for 16 days. His family had to pay a bail of 2,000 Yuan. The person responsible was the head of Xiangyang Branch of Jiamusi Public Security Bureau.

Wang Qingrong, female, 50 years old, lives in Qianjin District. The Political and Security Brigade of the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau arrested her on February 18th from her home. She was held at the detention center for 11 days. The Political and Security Brigade released her, but had 3,000 Yuan extorted from her for bail. On March 31, 2001, Chen Wanyou from the Political and Security Brigade lead four policemen to take her to the Jiamusi Public Security Bureau and sent her to the Huachuan Detention Center. In the detention center, police struck and kicked her several times during an interrogation. When she lost consciousness, they sent her back to her cell and ignored her. She held a 17-day hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and persecution. Police eventually released her. During this period, the police searched her home several times.
