(Clearwisdom Net) From various accounts, ever since July 22, 1999, Changshan Town Falun Dafa practitioners have been subjected to several different forms of persecution. These included, being unlawfully detained 24 times in total, sentenced to labor camp terms (without detention certificates), dismissed from their job, and having their wages frozen. Details are as follows:

  1. Wang Guifeng, female, 47 years old, is a retiree from the Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory.
  2. She went to appeal in Beijing on October 28, 1999, and was illegally arrested by police and held at the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. The police locked all illegally arrested Dafa practitioners, the old, the young, male and female, into a room of 10 square meters in size. Sometimes the numbers increased to more than 50 people. Practitioners were mostly given leftover food, and oftentimes were subjected to harsh verbal abuse from the administrative officers.. Everyday, practitioners were also forced to pay 1200 Yuan [Approximately two and a half months salary from an average urban worker] as accommodation expenses. After being under these conditions for some time, Wang Guifeng was deported to Qianguo County Detention Center by Liu XX from the Changshan Police Station and unlawfully detained for 15 days. The police also extorted 2700 Yuan from her family.

  3. Zhang Heshan, male, 52 years old, is a teacher at Changshan Junior High School.
  4. He went to appeal in Beijing on October 28, 1999 and was illegally arrested by police and held at the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. Upon his arrest, 2300 Yuan was extorted from him and he was later transported to the Qianguo County Detention Centre where he was unlawfully detained for 15 days. The vicious police placed criminals in the cell where Dafa practitioners were jailed and ordered them to torture the practitioners. In order to reduce their sentence, the inmates brutally persecuted the practitioners (note: if inmates torture the practitioners, they would be rewarded with a reduced sentence). If practitioners refused to write repentance statements, they would be punished by forced standing or sitting with the double legged-cross on hard boards for the entire day under close monitoring from the inmates. Later, the persecution escalated to pulling ears hard with elastic bands, flicking practitioners' heads with their fingers, sometimes more than 100 flicks from each inmate. They would also kick and punch practitioners and burn their chins with cigarette butts. They would viciously insult practitioners and say evil words such as: "This is an animal pen, it doesn't matter if one person is tortured to death, no one cares..." Police from Songyuan City's Guan District ordered practitioner Zhang's family to pay 800 Yuan without any reason and when they could not pay the full amount (due to financial difficulties), practitioner Zhao Xiangchen (retiree from the Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory, see case 5 below) paid the rest.

In October 2000, the Qianguo County Education Committee ordered to cut back practitioner Zhang's wages to 200 Yuan a month (only covering living expenses), thus further adding difficulties in Zhang's current financial situation.

  5. Li Wenhua, female, 52 years old, is a retiree from the Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory.
  6. She went to appeal in Beijing on October 30, 1999 and was jailed at the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. Once there, she was forced to give her 3200 Yuan to the administrative workers who were on duty. (Songyuan police were present at the time). After five days, she was transported to the Qianguo County Dentention Center where she was detained for 15 days. She was forced to stand upright with her nose touching the wall. She was also forced to stand in a steel cage outside the building in the freezing cold (outside temperatures reached below 20 degrees Celsius). To make matters worse, this cage was placed near filthy toilets. Due to the fact that practitioners continued to practice the exercises, police sprayed them with water, wetting practitioners' clothes and blankets. Those practitioners who were sleeping on the concrete floor even had their blankets soaked in water.

On February 28, 2000, Li Wenhua went to appeal in Beijing again and was once again jailed at the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. Later, Wu Dongxue and Li Jiang from Changshan Police Subdivision, and Wang Jianwen from the Chemical Fertilizer Factory deported Li Wenhua to the Qianguo County Detention Center for a 15-days detention without giving any detention certificate or notifying her family.

During the same year, on March 16, without any legal procedures, practitioner Li was transported to the Changchun Province Heizuizi Labor Camp where she was unlawfully sentenced to a one-year term. Neither her family nor her factory was notified. Li's wages were also stopped.

  7. Tian Chao, female, 26 years old.
  8. On October 27, 1999, she was arrested on her way to Beijing to appeal and was brought to the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. After she was illegally detained for three days, she was brought to the Qianguo County Police Department by the Changshan Town Police Subdivision to be detained for 15 days. Due to the fact that she refused to write a repentance statement, she was detained for another 15 days.

  9. Zhao Xiangchen, male, 60 years old, is a retiree from the Changshan Electricity Factory.
  10. On October 28, 1999, he was arrested on his way to Beijing to appeal and was brought to the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. Without any legal documentation, Changshan Town Police Subdivision brought him to the Qianguo County Detention center where he was illegally detained for 15 days. The police extorted 700 Yuan from his family and forced him to pay 250 Yuan (the remaining detention fee which practitioner Zhang Heshan could not afford to pay, see case 2 above).

  11. Liu Bai, female, 23 years old, a worker from the Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory.
  12. On October 17, 1999, she was arrested when appealing in Beijing and was brought to the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. She was illegally detained for 15 days by the Qianguo County Police Department and was forced to pay 1000 Yuan all together as detention fees. After being released, she was dismissed from her factory. During this incident, the factory tried to use the dismissal as a threat for her to give up practicing Falun Dafa.

  13. Li Yeyang, 25 years old, male, worker from the Jilin Province Changshan Town Chemical Fertilizer Factory.
  14. On October 17, 1999, like Liu Bai (see case 7 above), he was also illegally detained by the Qianguo County Police Department for 15 days but was instead forced to pay 500 Yuan as detention fees. Later, he was dismissed from his factory under the same circumstances as Liu Bai's case.

  15. Zhang Lihe, male, 29 years old.
  16. On October 29, 1999, he was arrested when appealing in Beijing and was brought to the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. 800 Yuan was taken from him and he was illegally detained by the Qianguo County Police Department for 15 days. They further extorted 600 Yuan from him as detention fees.

On December 5, 2000, he was illegally detained for 20 days at Dongchen District Office when he was at Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Later, he was transferred to the Hebei Province Luquan City Custodial Office. The police in the Custodial Office punched and kicked him, and when they became exhausted, they used bamboo sticks to hit his palm in order to force him to tell his home address. Afterwards, he was unlawfully detained by the Qianguo County Police Department for 19 days and sentenced to a one-year labor camp term without any legal documentation or having been given the chance to notify his family. His father was forced to pay a 1000-Yuan detention fee.

  17. Ge Zhanxiang, male, 60 years old, is a farmer from Changshan Town, Kulidun Village.

On March 2, 2000, he was arrested when appealing in Beijing and was brought to the Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. The vicious officer Su Bo from Qianguo County Police Department took 200 Yuan from Ge Zhanxiang and he was later detained for 15 days. They also forced his family to pay 1000 Yuan as detainment fees. On January 18, 2001, he was deported to the Qianguo County Police Detention Center by the Changshan Town Police Subdivision because he refused to sign a pledge, which stated that he will no longer practice Falun Dafa, and instead wrote a truth-clarifying article about Dafa. He was detained for 43 days and officers extorted 1000 Yuan from his family before releasing him.

  18. 10. Chen Jie and Liu Wanyun, both female, 39 and 37 years old respectively, are farmers from the Kuli Village in Changshan Town.

On February 20, 2000, they were arrested on their way to Beijing to appeal and were brought to the detention center at Qianguo County Police Department to be illegally detained for 17 days.

  19. Jiang Enxiao, female, 23 years old, is a student at Songyuan City Engineering College.

Tang Shude, female, 52 years old, is a retired teacher from Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory.

Jiang Baoming, 50 years old, is a retiree from Changshan Chemical Fertilizer Factory.

On February 25, 2000, Jiang Enxiao, her mother Tang Shude, and father Jiang Baoming, were arrested in Beijing and brought to Beijing's Songyuan City Liaison Office. Later, they were transferred to the Qianguo County Detention Center by Li Jiang and Wu Dongxue from Changshan Town Police Subdivision and Wang Jianwen from the police station in the Chemical Fertilizer Factory. The practitioners were illegally detained for 15 days.

On August 21, 2000, Tang Shude was detained at Qianguo County Detention Center for 15 days because she gave a truth-clarifying literature to the Factory's Party Secretary, Niu Linshu.

On January 1, 2001, Jiang Enxiao and her parents were arrested while appealing in Beijing Tiananmen Square. She was put into the detention center by Tiananmen police officers and was subjected to brutal persecution. First they slapped her until she fainted and then she was pushed outdoors where they pulled back her head by her hair and splashed her with cold water until she regained consciousness. In order not to cooperate with the demands of the evil police, Jiang Enxiao did not tell them her home address. As a result, more than ten officers surrounded her and forced her to take off her clothes, her cotton overcoat and sweater, then even tried to force her to take off her undergarments. She was then detained for 15 days and was later sentenced to one year in labor camp.

Tang Shude endured the same ordeal as her daughter while being detained at the Douge Estate. Later she was illegally jailed by the Qianguo County Police Department for 48 days. Upon being released, they extorted 5000 Yuan from her and also dismissed her from her job at the Chemical Fertilizer Factory.

Jiang Enxiao's father, Jiang Baoming, was also dismissed from his job at the Chemical Fertilizer Factory in 2000 after his unlawful detainment. They extorted 4670 Yuan from him as detention fees. On January 1, 2001, on the way to Beijing, a vicious security officer hit Jiang Baoming's right eye with his police baton when Jiang tried to prevent him from beating someone. Jiang's right eye immediately started to bleed and bled for three to four days after that. For a month, fluid ran from his eyes until he completely lost his sight.

Ever since 2001, their entire family has been detained, and both parents were dismissed from their jobs. They have no income to maintain a living.

  20. Zhao Jinlian, female, 54 years old, a retired teacher from the school affiliated with the Chemical Fertilizer Factory.

On August 23, 2001, she was unlawfully detained for 15 days by the Qianguo Police Department when handing Dafa truth-clarifying literature to the Factory's Party Secretary, Niu Linshu.

  21. Ge Shuping, 37 years old, is a teacher from Changshan Town Junior High School.

On February 24, 2001, Ge Shuping was arrested at Changchun City Station while on her way to Beijing. Deputy of the Changshan Town Police Subdivision, Zhang Guojun and two other officers brought her back to the Qianguo County Detention Center where she was illegally detained for 15 days. In October, the Changshan Town Education Committee ordered a cut in practitioner Ge's wages and would only pay her 200 Yuan a month to cover her living expenses. During the Spring Festival [Chinese New Year], they called her home and told her to go to the school. When she arrived, she was arrested and police drove her to the Township Head Office where she was detained. In addition her family was forced to pay 1000 Yuan before she was released.

In June 2001, the principal once again tried to force her to write a pledge stating that she would break her ties with Falun Dafa. After she refused, they stopped her wages completely and forbid her to go to work. The numerous persecutions Ge Shuping endured caused a breakdown in her family and uncertainty in her own life.

  22. Dong Xiumei, female, 35 years old, a teacher from Changshan Town Junior High School.

On February 28, 2000, she was arrested in Beijing by Qianguo County's Guan District police officer, Su Bo, and brought to the Songyuan City Liaison Office in Beijing where 500 Yuan was taken from her. She was then unlawfully detained at Qiaoguo County Detention Center for 20 days by the Changshan police officer, Wu Dongxue. Changshan Town Police Subdivision also took 3600 Yuan from her wages in the guise of "police department fees".

In October 2000, Changshan Education Committee lowered the wages of Dong Xiumei, Zhang Heshan, Ge Shuping and Shi Zhujun (female, 35 years old) each by 300 Yuan a month. Changshan Police Department also forced each of them to pay a "police department fee" costing 100 Yuan a month.

Changshan Town Police Subdivision held two mandatory brainwashing classes at the Township Head Office. Not only were Dong Xiumei, Zhang Heshan, Ge Shuping and Shi Zhujun forced to attend, upon being released from the class, each were extorted a total 1000 Yuan! In April 2001, the four practitioners were once again forced into brainwashing classes. Due to the practitioners' resolute belief in Falun Dafa, Principal Wang Senlin reported their cases to the Qianguo County Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary, Li You. All four were then unlawfully dismissed from their jobs.

Dong Xiumei is now forced to divorce her husband. She has no income, and is forced to become homeless.
