Cross-Canada "SOS Tour" Honored above the Arctic Circle

I left Toronto on August 8th for a 24,000-kilometer SOS Rescue Tour into the Yukon and Northwest Territories with a fellow practitioner from Ottawa. We are one of four teams who embarked on a Cross-Canada SOS Urgent Rescue Tour. The tour will visit cities and towns all across Canada from the west to the east and into the north.

We arrived in Whitehorse in the rustic, northern Canadian Yukon Territory on August 12th. Pricilla met us at the airport and took us to Jim's house. Jim is a practitioner in Whitehorse. Jim was away for the week but gave us his car and his house to use as long as we needed them. Jim also set up an appointment for us with the Mayor.

The Mayor of Whitehorse was very supportive and friendly. He welcomed us to his town and gladly signed our petition to send a rescue team to China. He told us we were welcome to get signatures any-where we wanted in the town.

The MP for the Yukon wasn't in but his two secretaries were very excited about the petition and both signed. They both commented that they were happy someone was doing something to help these people. I felt a little sad I couldn't introduce the Fa to the MP himself.

That night we did a demonstration at the town public library. We showed people the beautiful exercises and made them aware of the brutal persecution in China. They were all moved by Falun Gong.

The next day we stood on the corner of the main streets in Whitehorse and gathered signatures. Almost everyone we approached signed the petition. People in the Yukon instinctively knew that Falun Gong is good and knew the Chinese government is wrong to persecute it. The Whitehorse Star and the Yukon News both came and did interviews with us.

On August 15th I flew by myself over 1200 kilometers north above the Arctic Circle, on a little plane to a town called Inuvik. As I sat on the plane I felt the interference of fear try to stop me from approaching people but I told myself it is so important to the practitioners in China to let the truth be known to as many people as possible so I fought the interference. I got out of my seat and approached everyone on the plane. Everyone knew the goodness of Falun Gong when I was finished.

We stopped down on the way in a little town called Old Crow. The people inside the little tiny airport were all aboriginal people. I walked up to them and told them the story about Falun Gong and the cross-Canada tour to help save the lives of my fellow practitioners in China. When I brought out the petition the people who surrounded me all said, Hey I'll sign that, I'll sign that! Their hearts were all very open and good.

When I got back in the plane I saw a man sit in front of me. I asked him if he wanted to sign my petition to support Falun Gong. He said "I don't sign petitions but I would like to hear what it is all about." I showed him some beautiful pictures of the Falun Gong exercise demonstrations from around the world. I then showed him some persecution pictures. I talked for a while and he listened intently. He turned to me and said, I am the MP for the Yukon and I will be the one who will read this petition request in the House of Commons. I would be honored to support your cause. If everyone stepped out and did things as openly as you, I feel things will get done." I felt so good. This was the MP I missed in the Yukon! I knew master was taking care of everything.

I landed in Inuvik above the Arctic Circle. A rustic, dusty, northern town filled with friendly and thoughtful people. I walked to the store to buy some supplies. A man came up to me in the store and said, Hi! I'm the Mayor of Inuvik and you have an appointment with me at 4:30!"

I arrived at the Mayor's office at 4:30 sharp. We talked about the peacefulness and the goodness of Falun Gong and the extent of the crackdown. He said he was aware of the whole story because his wife had practiced Falun Gong before. I told him that because we let the President of China get away with this persecution and defamation for the last 2 years that people here in Canada were starting to get poisoned by the propaganda and were starting to believe the negativity. The Mayor felt the idea of the Rescue Team petition was something tangible and positive that could be done to show people that it is wrong to treat Falun Gong badly.

That evening I introduced the exercises to people at the town library. Many people who were on the plane with me earlier that day came to do the exercises. I got in touch with a reporter when I arrived. She came with her friend, her husband and her baby. They all stayed for the whole class and did all the exercises. At the end another town reporter from the local newspaper came in and apologized that he couldn't make it in time for the class. The other reporter looked at him and said. "That's too bad, You missed a really good thing." They all felt the power of Falun Gong.

Today I woke to a muddy, wet and cold Arctic day. I dressed warm and went to meet with a representative for the "Gwich'indene" aboriginal people. The Mayor of Inuvik suggested I talk to them about Falun Gong. He felt all Canadian's respect and honor people who stand for goodness. The representative I met took the petitions to distribute them amongst his people.

I am also excited to report that Falun Gong was honored with the "Certificate of the Arctic Circle Chapter Order of Adventurers." (A Certificate honoring Falun Gong for adventuring above the Arctic Circle.)

"Order of Arctic Adventurers bears witness that Falun Dafa / Falun Gong, having demonstrated the initiative, integrity and bold adventurous spirit of the true arctic explorers who have crossed the Arctic Circle, will here after be recognized as an honorable member of the exclusive Arctic Circle Chapter Order of Arctic Adventurers."
