Speaking of the Guilford County commissioners, they are being asked to lend their support to Falun Gong and take a stand against the Chinese government.

A Falun Gong practitioner, Alvis Whitted of Durham, wrote commissioners Chairman Bob Landreth this month asking him to honor the Chinese spiritual movement. Practitioners have been tortured and imprisoned in China, where [party' name omitted] Party leaders see it as a threat to their rule.

"I would like to ask that you consider honoring Falun Gong as a traditional spiritual practice that has courageously and peacefully endured massive persecution in its birthplace, China," Whitted wrote.
