Liu Lanxiang, female, 40 years old: Died while suspended from handcuffs overnight by Chinese police.
According to an inside source within the Department of Public Security, Liu Lanxiang, from Minqing County, Gansu Province, was tortured to death in the No. 2 Detention Center in Lanzhou City. Ms. Liu was an employee of the Chinese Medicine Hospital in Minqin County of Gan Su and a Falun Dafa practitioner. After Liu Lanxiang was arrested, she was sent to the No. 2 Detention Center (located in Hualin Mountain).
It was believed by officers at the Public Security Bureau that Ms. Liu had information about many flyers and posters that had been distributed in Lanzhou City and the surrounding area calling for an end to the ban on Falun Gong. The city bureau ordered the detention center to force Ms. Liu to reveal who was printing and distributing these flyers. Ms. Liu was beaten and tortured on numerous occasions, but she continued to refuse to give out the information. Finally, on the evening of April 9th, Ms. Liu was again beaten, hand-cuffed and then hung up by her hand-cuffs. The police in the detention center fell asleep, and upon awakening, early the next morning, they found Ms. Liu dead.
Wang Aijuan, female, 43 years old: Beaten to death and quickly cremated by Chinese police.
Wang Aijuan was formerly an employee of the No.1 Cotton Mill in Weifang City. On the night of April 2, 2001, the Fangzi District Public Security Bureau of Weifang City arrested her while she and fellow Falun Gong practitioners Li Zhilian and Song Hongzhi were putting up a banner calling for an end to the ban on Falun Gong. She was beaten and died several days later. Her body was cremated on April 8th. According to eyewitnesses, there were wounds on Wang Aijuan's body. The police have since threatened her family members.
