My Experience of Being Detained in A Psychiatric Hospital and Force-Fed Psychiatric Drugs

My name is Fu Liang. I am a 47-year-old female and a retired worker from Qidashan Comprehensive Factory of Anshan Iron and Steel Corporation, Liaoning Province. I began practicing Falun Dafa in March 20, 1997. My body and soul were purified through cultivation. Based on my experiences and the fact that it teaches us to assimilate to Zhen Shan Ren, Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, I believe that Falun Dafa is the universal Fa, or Law of the universe On July 22^nd, 1999, the government banned Falun Dafa. On Dec. 3^rd, 1999, with the kind wish to tell the government of the FalunDafa's upright nature, I went to Beijing. After several days, I was arrested by the local Public Security Bureau and detained for 15 days. During those 15 days, they pressured me to write in a "pledge letter" that I wouldn't practice Falun Dafa and wouldn't go to Beijing to appeal. I resolutely refused. Because I didn't cooperate with the police, on Dec. 25th, the police transferred me to the Security Department of my factory for a one-month reeducation class. During this period, they handcuffed me every day from 7:30am to 5:00pm. At night, I slept on a chair. Four people were assigned to watch me day and night. Because I was so determined not to write the pledge, on Jan. 31, 2000, the supervisor of security department, Mr. Xu, the secretary, Mr. Li, the manager of the factory and the police from Shenbei Police Substation accompanied me to Xiaolingzi Psychiatric Hospital in the City of Anshan. I said to them, "I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I don't have any mental disease." But they told the doctor in the psychiatric hospital, "This person practices Falun Dafa and her mind is off." My husband managed to retrieve a medical record that they had falsified. It read, "the patient never finishes after she starts eating a meal? One afternoon a doctor came to me and said, "You have to follow our instructions while you are here; you have to take medicine for your mental disease." I patiently told him that I didn't have any mental disease. I told him how good Falun Dafa is but he didn't listen. During the nights, a nurse would come to administer more than a dozen pills. There were at least three kinds: one white and two yellow. When I didn't take them two nurses forced ingestion and threatened, "We have all kinds of methods to make you ingest. We can make you take them." One night, I heard someone who was investigating my situation in the nurse's room across from mine say fiercely, "Give her more medicine and let her go into coma." In the morning, the doctor made the rounds of the wards and asked me, "How do you feel after taking the medicine? Do you feel faint or nauseated?" I replied, "neither." They then increased the dosage to three times a day. I always silently recited from teacher's scripture "Position:" "The trials that a practitioner goes through are trials that everyday people cannot bear..." Because I allowed our teacher's words to encourage me, I endured inhumane torture for almost ten days. On the morning of January 6^th, the lunar calendar, my husband retrieved me from the hospital. The psychiatric ward forced me to buy several bottles of psychiatric drugs. After I had technically been released from the psychiatric hospital I was repeatedly detained. Because they feared that I would go to Beijing again, my factory held me for twenty days. Two days after they released me from this period of detention, policeman from Shenbei Police Substation tried to force me to write a "pledge and renunciation letter." When I refused, they detained me for another 15 days. Starting during this period, my husband was forced to attend a "reeducation" class for more than one month and had his salary decrease from over 500 Yuan to 208 Yuan. They forced him to wear a badge that indicated a member of his family practiced Falun Gong and let other people oversee and insult him. As a Falun Dafa practitioner attempting to uphold what I feel to be the Universal Truth, I step forward today to expose the evil of Jiang Zemin's persecution against kindhearted people, to be an advocate for compassion and an opponent of evil.
