1. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Do Fa-rectification in front of the Court

When some practitioners learned that 5 practitioners would be brought to court on December 12, 2001, they gathered together in front of the Yangming District Court as early as 6 a.m., hanging up Falun Dafa banners and waiting there. At 8 a.m. when the police van with the 5 practitioners came, they called out, "Falun Dafa is good! Release all Falun Dafa practitioners unconditionally!" Seeing that most of the audience in the court were practitioners, the police tried to disperse the group by lying to them saying, "The location of today's trial has been moved to the Middle Court. Please leave." But no one listened to them, so they had no alternative but to begin the session. The practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts in the audience to eliminate the evil. Because the evidence used by the prosecutor was fabricated, the defense lawyer was able to use logic to refute the lies one by one. Finally, the court was suspended.

We hope all the kind-hearted people and human rights organizations will pay attention to the illegally detained practitioners and support their unconditional release.

2. [Beijing] The Torture and Killing in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp

I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. My husband was also a practitioner. Ever since the persecution of Falun Dafa, we have visited Beijing 12 times to appeal to the government to stop the persecution. The last time, the police sent us to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing.

The police tried to force us to write "letters to guarantee giving up practicing." When we refused, they beat us and tortured us with ancient methods of "squeezing the figures between sticks" and "locking up in wooden fixtures." They even poured hot asphalt on the road and forced my husband to walk on it in his bare feet. Still, he refused to write the statement. The police hung him upside down for two days until they finally tortured him to death. I reported it to the supervising police guard. They were afraid that I might tell other people about my husband's death, so they attempted to torture me to death as well. They squeezed my breasts with wooden sticks until I lost consciousness. I could barely function when I regained consciousness. Practitioners are experiencing countless tortures like this in jail.

I must reveal the truth of the persecution and seek justice for my husband.

3. [Northeastern China] Stories of Fa-rectification in the Brainwashing Class

A procurator in a city of Northeastern China gave a lecture in a brainwashing class. He mentioned how advanced the science, technology, and medicine were in China, and he slandered Falun Dafa at the same time. After the lecture, a practitioner asked him questions while many other practitioners gathered around him.

The practitioner asked, "You said that science, technology, and medicine were advanced in China, so why couldn't they treat Ms.Ma Hua, the gymnastics coach who died of leukemia? Did she have no money for medical treatment, or did she not exercise everyday? Why did she die? You said our practice is not good. Why did the practitioners who had leukemia and started practicing Falun Dafa in their critical period completely recover within a year? Please tell us which is more advanced and which is more well developed." He had no answer to these questions.

The practitioners kindly told him not to slander Falun Dafa and its teacher. Falun Dafa is the law of the cosmos. It is the more advanced and supernormal science, unparalleled by the science of the human world.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Su Lifeng's Life is in Danger

Practitioner Su Lifeng is currently in the hospital of Tiebei Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. She was kidnapped by the people in "6-10 Office" on October 28, 2001 and remains there[The 6-10 office is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches]. It is said that she was tortured in a police station, then in the Police Department of Changchun City, and also in No. 3 Custodial Center in Shuangyang. She has been rushed to emergency treatment 4 or 5 times. The "6-10 Office" is blocking the news and denying the family visitation. We are looking for the details of Su Lifeng's persecution.

We suggest that practitioners send forth the purest and firmest righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil, stop the persecution, and help the detained practitioners regain their freedom.

We solemnly warn the people in the "6-10 Office" and other perpetrators: No matter what you do to persecute Falun Dafa, you are doing the most evil thing. Jiang Zemin has committed all sorts of crimes and must be brought to justice. How could his pawns run free any longer? Those who harm others are actually doing harm to themselves. Persecuting the kind and innocent is similar to digging one's own grave. Don't fool yourselves, and don't take advantage of the benevolence of practitioners. Stop the evil conduct. Otherwise, you will receive retribution very soon and you will suffer pain endlessly.

5. [Beijing] Lawyer Li Wendong and His Wife Shao Yan, a Lecturer in the University of Agriculture, Are Detained in Haidian Police Department Branch

Li Wendong, male, used to be a lawyer in a shipping company in Beijing. Shao Yan, female, used to be a professor at the Agriculture University. Because they are firm in the practice of Falun Dafa, they were forced to abandon their home to avoid persecution. They were arrested at the end of August 2001 in Haidian District. They have since been transferred to Haidian Police Department Branch. Though the winter is turning severe, they have been left in only summer clothes.

6. [Jianping County, Liaoning Province] The Facts of Persecution and the Perpetrators in Jianping County

Since July 20, 1999 when the Chinese government started persecuting Falun Dafa, the Party Committee and Police Department in Jianping County have been acting against their consciences as well as breaking the law by arresting practitioners and torturing them inhumanly. They kick the practitioners with their boots, strike their faces and heads with heavy objects, put them in freezing cold rooms, beat them with belts, deny them sleep, and take turns trying to brainwash them. Practitioners are forced to write letters of guarantee giving up practicing and letters of repentance. They are forced to turn in money before being released, from 3,000 Yuan to 10,000 Yuan. (Yuan is Chinese currency. The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.) Those who paid the money were not given receipts, while those who couldn't afford the charge are endlessly detained or sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

Shi Changjing, vice-director of Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, who headed the department responsible for reforming Falun Dafa practitioners, and the associate manager of the Educational Section, Yang Yu, came up with a so-called questionnaire for visitors of Falun Dafa practitioners. Only those who defamed Falun Dafa were allowed to see their relatives, regardless of the relationships between the visitors and the practitioners, or the distance traveled for the visit. This is a typical example of forcing people to commit crimes against Falun Dafa. It was estimated that for the past few months, hundreds of visitors of practitioners have been forced to fill out the questionnaire against Falun Dafa. 8. [Wusong County, Jilin Province] A Number of Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Forcibly Taken into Custody

About twenty days ago, practitioners from Wusong County, Li Zhengfang, Li Xiaowen, Zhang Xiushan, Song Weixiang and Meng (first name unknown) were taken into custody by the local police. They are currently being held at the Wusong County Police Detention Center. It was said that the police had hired a group of local thugs to watch for Falun Dafa practitioners. For each practitioner caught, they were awarded 2000 Yuan (approximately 4 month salary of an average urban worker).

Practitioners from Wusong County please send forth righteous thoughts and help those who are held in custody to get out of the detention center. We would also like to make the perpetrators aware that you have incurred insurmountable crimes by hurting Falun Dafa practitioners. If you do not stop now, you will receive retribution in no time.

9. [Jixi County, Heilongjiang Province] Police at Jixi Forced Labor Camp Repeatedly Beat Up Practitioners

In early July, the over 20 Falun Dafa practitioners unlawfully detained at Jixi Forced Labor Camp went on a hunger strike. Policemen Zhang Guohua and Qi Min took practitioner Li Chongjun to a separate room and beat him with clubs all over his body. They also threatened to sentence him to imprisonment. In the meantime, Li's wife, who had been taken away from #8510 Farm, Heilongjiang Province, by Jidong County Police for "questioning," was instead brutally beaten from the waist down until she was black and blue all over.

In August, policeman Zhang Guohua forced practitioner Zhang Haitao and Ma Chuncheng to write the "Code of Conduct for Inmates." Practitioners refused to cooperate, realizing it was a conspiracy. Zhang Guohua placed the practitioners into a separate room and along with policemen Qi Min, Gu Dejun, Zhu Lijun (group leader). He brutally beat Zhang Haitao and Ma Chuncheng. Zhang Haitao fainted and fell to the ground after four rounds of beating while Ma Chuncheng was rendered unable to walk, suffering injuries all over his body.

In September, they tried to force practitioners to have their heads shaved, but they resisted it. They said, "We are not criminals. We refuse to have our heads shaved." Then the policemen called the practitioners one after another to a separate room to beat them. Due to the torture, practitioner Ye Zhenghui lost hearing in his left ear while Zhang Peizeng lost hearing in his right ear.

In November, Fan Mingsheng, (nephew of Zhang Yulan, one of the practitioners who was tortured to death at Wanjia Forced Labor Camp) was put under a bed board with his hands and legs tied up by policeman Qi Min and inmates Xiao Yingjun and Xing Daliang. Fan was kept there in the dark simply because he tried to practice the exercises.

Ren Shouzhi, a 62-year-old retired teacher from Agricultural Vocational School, Jidong County, was kicked, punched and beaten with clubs by policemen Zhang Guohua and Qi Min because he did not call out his number at the appropriate time. To stop him from speaking, the policemen stuck an inmate's dirty socks into his mouth.

The above were crimes committed against Falun Dafa practitioners by the police at Jixi Forced Labor Camp. We appeal to the international human rights organizations to condemn the brutalities led by Jiang Zemin and his followers, return freedom to Falun Dafa practitioners and put an end to the persecution in China.

Yang Tingyu, female, 42, from Guanghan City, Gaoping Township, Jiudongqiao Village, Commune #3, sentenced to 3 years imprisonment on August 20, has been held for 11 months now.

Wu Xianzhi, female, 34, from Guanghan City, Gaoping Township, Gaogongqiao Village, Commune #1, sentenced to 3 years imprisonment on November 29, has been held for 10 months now.

11. [China] An Extraordinary Event in My Childhood: In the Air Stood a Giant Buddha

I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1999, and my younger sister started practicing at the end of 1998. After that, one day, my sister read Teacher Li's poem, "The Great Enlightened" in which it says "Having experienced tens of thousands of tribulations; Two feet treading on thousands of demons; Upright palm--heaven and earth shake. In the air stands a giant Buddha" (from Teacher Li's book Hong Yin, unofficial translation). Then my sister suddenly asked me: "Do you still remember when we were kids (It was around 1980. At that time, I was 8 or 9 years old, and my sister was 6 or 7.) and one night, Mom wasn't home. We were playing together in the yard when we saw a giant who was as tall as the sky with a halo behind him. Both of us were a little scared by the sight of the giant, so we held hands and looked up at the grand giant in the sky. At that instant, we felt a sense of closeness to him and security, and were not scared anymore. Time seemed to stand still. The grand giant stared at us. It seemed like he wanted to give us a message. This went on for a few minutes, then the halo behind the grand giant became larger and larger, until it spread everywhere. While this was happening, the grand giant became smaller and smaller. It was just like we were watching a movie. Then everything completely disappeared." We lived in an old village house during that time. We thought all the people in the village probably saw the scene of the grand giant as we did. But when Mom came home, she said she didn't see anything and neither did the older woman next door. She thought we were joking, or telling her a fairytale. Actually, no one else who lived in the village saw anything. I hadn't thought about this extraordinary event for a long time until my sister mentioned it. Thinking back, the grand giant in the air was Teacher Li. The compassionate, great Teacher Li has given everything he has to save all sentient beings.

A period when the Fa is being so widely spread has never before happened in the entire history of the cosmos. We are so blessed to be Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples. I hope every Fa-rectification cultivator will seize this precious opportunity.

12. [China] Miracle on a Watermelon Patch

There was a watermelon patch located in the downtown area of a mountain village. A ditch that goes from east to west separates the land into two parts. Ordinary farmers own the land south of the ditch, and a Dafa disciple owns the land north of the ditch. This summer, it hailed in this mountain village. While that was happening, a man decided to wait in the watermelon patch to avoid the hail. He saw that all the hail was falling to the south of the ditch, and nothing was falling to the land north of the ditch. Due to the hail, the land south of the ditch was pummeled and damaged. In contrast, the land north of the ditch was perfectly fine, and eventually they harvested the watermelon from that plot of land. The story of this event was spread far and wide. People in the mountain village said, "Falun Gong is simply extraordinary. If I hadn't seen that first hand, I wouldn't believe it." At this, a Dafa disciple spread the Fa to the people in that mountain village. During this difficult time, the evil is still brutally persecuting Dafa disciples, but there are more and more people in this mountain village who are taking up Falun Dafa cultivation.
