Thank you for contacting me regarding China's treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. I appreciate hearing from you.

I share your concerns about human rights abuses in China and around the world. I am particularly concerned about the current situation involving Falun Gong practitioners in China. I have joined several Senate colleagues in communicating with the President of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, and denouncing the persecution of practitioners of Falun Gong.

The House of Representatives is currently considering H.Con.Res.188, which expresses the sense of Congress that the Government of the People's Republic of China should cease its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind should the Senate consider related legislation.
