WORLDWIDE SUPPORT
In Canada, two teams of Falun Gong practitioners who walked from Toronto and Montreal arrived in Ottawa. During the welcoming ceremony and press conference, Colleen Beaumier, M.P. and Vice-Chair of the Canadian Foreign Affairs Committee, stated, "You will surely succeed, because truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance give you strength."
The City Council of Elizabeth City, New Jersey declared October 25, 2001 as "Falun Dafa Day" and passed the resolution to condemn the persecution and repression of Falun Gong practitioners.
On October 11, 2001, Mayor David P. Bonacchi of the City of East Rochester, New York issued a proclamation to Falun Dafa and condemned the Chinese government for the inhumane persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
On October 18, 2001, Anna Linda, the Swedish Foreign Minister, stated in a letter to the parliament that Sweden has long-term measures in urging China to stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and to respect human rights.
The Asia-Pacific Division of the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry stated in a letter to Falun Gong practitioners that the Dutch government will continue to pay close attention to the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese government and other human rights issues, and will also raise such topics for discussion in the European Union and in the United Nations.
Robert V. Gallagher, Mayor of City of Blind River, Canada, Laurence Boyer, Chief of the Missisauga First Nation, and E.W. Linley, Reeve of Town Council, Huron Shores, Canada wrote letters to the Canadian Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, to urge the Chinese government to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and to support the "SOS Walk."
On October 26, 2001, Canadian MP John Godfrey stated that many people in the parliament are supportive of Falun Gong. An official from the Ontario Charity Organization complimented that the "SOS Walk" is an "effective way to spread the message of peace."
A UN human rights commissioner cited more than 400 torture cases of Falun Gong practitioners in last year's annual report. This commissioner requested to the Chinese government in vain for an on-site investigation. Instead, he is only allowed for limited prison visits. Because the commissioner's request was refused, this issue has been in deadlock since.
LATEST NEWS FROM CHINA
During the October 1 National Day holiday, a speaker system had broadcast the truth of Falun Dafa under the national flag in Tiananmen Square. Falun Dafa practitioners hung up thirty 6-meter-long banners and six speakers in Beijing, and effectively eradicated the evil.
A large number of policemen were dispatched in railroad stations and bus stations in all major cities in Mainland China to interrogate and examine the travelers. Shenyang City also dispatched heavily armed policemen.
In a city in China, a Falun Dafa practitioner went to the park to post truth-clarifying materials. However, the practitioner was seen by two plain-clothed policemen. The practitioner was not afraid at all and thought that no one could interfere with any truth-clarifying activities, and silently recited the Fa-rectification verse. The practitioner walked by the wicked policemen and when he looked back, he found that the policemen were not moving.
Falun Gong practitioner Yang Mei, of Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, was killed by force-feeding. Twelve people are responsible; their phone numbers are omitted in this briefing.
At 6 o'clock in the morning of 19th, many people heard a Falun Gong broadcast at a busy area in a city in Shandong Province. Policemen rushed to find and take down the speaker. Before they were able to complete the task, police at two other sites in the city reported similar Falun Gong broadcasts.
From the 15th to the 18th, in a city in Henan Province, Falun Gong practitioners hung several 16-meter-long [about 50 feet] banners in front of the city call and in the city plaza garden. The banners said, "SOS: Stop Killing Falun Gong (Practitioners)," "Falun Dafa is Good," "Immediately Abolish the 610 Office and Punish Luo Gan." This has seriously shocked the evil people.
A provincial government leader praised Falun Gong practitioners publicly, saying that they had five good characters: good health, good mood, good work, good writing, and good moral quality. This leader and many of his colleagues knew that Falun Gong practitioners are as firm as rocks despite whatever heavy pressure is forced upon them.
In the latter part of September, Falun Gong practitioners in a city in northeast China used many forms to clarify truth of Falun Gong in the streets and inside resident buildings. They floated banners with balloons, hung banners on buildings, used speakers to play broadcasts, sprayed or wrote words onto walls, printed and pasted words, and distributed cassettes, VCDs, and other materials. This has vigorously eradicated evil influences in their city.
On the 24th, there appeared ten instances of "Falun Dafa is Good" in red paint near a city hall in northeast China. It was quite exciting and encouraging. Another city in the northeast had a Falun Dafa experience sharing conference on the 20th. Practitioners from seven different areas attended. The atmosphere of the meeting was serene, solemn, and sacred. The stories of Dafa disciples' giving up the attachment of life and death, giving up selfness, safeguarding Dafa, and balancing Fa-rectification and personal cultivation encouraged every attendee.
Falun Gong practitioners refused to attend a brainwashing class, which originally planned to start in October in a city in northeast China. Because nobody attended, a community director and a judicial assistant were forced to attend the class to make up the number.
During the National Day holiday (October 1), many Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and large amounts of personal properties were confiscated.
Shenzhen City is having a comic contest of slandering and defaming Falun Gong. The date for final entry is December 30, 2001. Those practitioners who see this news, please send forth righteous thoughts together to eradicate the evil behind this.
Zhang Wei, a student of Jiaotong University in Shanghai, was captured while distributing Falun Gong materials. Those who know her situation, please provide her whereabouts. Another practitioner also was seized, but his (or her) spouse immediately transferred the materials of Falun Gong truth safely to other places. The spouse also gave the materials to colleagues to read, and said, "I believe there will be a day that the Fa is rectified."
On September 29, in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, the Nanwei Police Station deputy director Zhang Zhiguo, policemen Sun Shulong, and 3 others came to Falun Gong practitioners' home and pounded at the doors. They used iron clubs to pry and pound. They also threw bricks through windows upstairs. They were more ferocious than brigands.
Fifty-seven-year-old Dafa practitioner Wang Shurong was captured for lawfully appealing for Falun Gong last year. She was detained in No. 2 Detention Center in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, and her personal freedom was severely confined. Her captors forced her to sleep on a flat surface only six inches wide, so she could only turn over once each night. The daily allowance to relieve herself was once for bowel movements and thrice for urination.
Sixty-year-old Dafa practitioner Wang Shuxing was captured for lawfully appealing for Falun Gong last year. The "610 Office" extorted over 10,000 Yuan "bail" from her family. [10,000 Yuan is about 20 months income in Chinese cities.] She was captured again this April and has not been released since.
Li Shuxiang and Qiu Ke from Langfang, Hebei Province have enlightened along an evil path. They coordinated with the evil forces and went to labor camps and detention centers to confuse other practitioners. They have committed monstrous crimes against Dafa. Now they continue their wrongdoings in two brainwashing classes in Langfang. We hope practitioners can send forth righteous thoughts to eradicate this evil.
Liu Qingbo, a policeman at the Changhong Street Police Station in Da'an City, Jilin Province, arrested practitioner Wu Tonglin for declaring that he would continue to practice Falun Gong. When the arrest was made, Wu was just released from a detention center and on his way home.
103 practitioners solemnly declared that the public statements they signed denouncing Falun Gong were null and void. These practitioners were forcefully brainwashed, severely beaten, and threatened with expulsion from their schools. It was under these circumstances that they signed the statements. These practitioners vowed that they would continue to practice Falun Gong and redoubled their efforts in clarifying the truth and eradicating the evil.
Practitioner Han Shengli, a retired worker from Xinwen Mining Industry Group Ltd., Shandong Province, was tortured to death in August 2001 in the Xintai Detention Center. Han was forcefully brainwashed in May. He then unfurled a banner reading "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" on Tiananmen Square.
Many practitioners in Meihekou, Jilin Province were arrested, forcefully brainwashed and brutally tortured on the "death bed." (The four limbs of the practitioner are spread out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all and is not allowed to get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. This treatment lasts from several hours up to more than a dozen days.) The policemen said to them, "Falun Gong practitioners have no rights whatsoever!"
A righteous security officer told his friend overseas that he and some of his colleagues in the security department had been documenting in detail cases relating to Falun Gong, in particular serious cases resulting in death and disability. He said that those who are committing these hideous crimes could never imagine that people around them would be collecting evidence of their crimes.
A taxi driver who often drives families and friends of detained practitioners to the labor camps for visits once spoke out and stopped the police from harassing these people. On another occasion, this driver told his neighbor how her daughter who worked in a detention camp shocked the private areas of women practitioners using electric batons. That evening when this neighbor saw her daughter, she was totally disgusted and furiously spoke out against her.
Wang Jishan, the manager of the 610 Office in Linxi, Shandong Province, had a notorious record of persecuting Falun Dafa and its practitioners. His vicious deeds brought about retribution to his family members. This summer, his wife fell and broke her arm.
Some of the practitioners in China wrote to the Shuanghe Labor Camp in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, demanding that they stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
In the middle of October, practitioners detained in Shuanghe Labor Camp tore off a flag denouncing Falun Gong from the wall. As a result, they were later severely beaten by a guard. The practitioners in this labor camp are asking those who were involved in the beating of practitioners to be punished.
A practitioner strongly believes that practitioners should not focus on their own gain and loss, for example one's own consummation, building one's magnificence and virtue, and personal fame. He equates this kind of thinking to selfishness. He believes that practitioners should view everything from Fa's perspective. Those who are unable to do so are not in the best and most righteous position. This practitioner was arrested and put in a brainwashing class, but he was able to escape.
On September 24, 2001, 24 practitioners clarified the truth on Tiananmen Square. Four were arrested, but one escaped from the Detention Camp as a result of her righteous thoughts and righteous faith.
On the eve of the National Day, more than 80 practitioners from a city in northeastern China went to Tiananmen Square to clarify the truth. A five-year-old shouted on the Jinshui Bridge, "Falun Gong is good!" These practitioners showed the world how magnificent and solemn Dafa is.
Practitioner Daqiang and his wife managed to get away from security officers pursuing them and went to Tiananmen Square to clarify the truth during the New Year celebration. Daqiang was arrested several times and tortured, but he was able to escape and continued his work in Fa clarification as a result of his righteous thoughts.
VALIDATING DAFA OUTSIDE OF CHINA
In order to expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by Jiang Zemin's regime, a practitioner living in England went outside to practice Dafa exercises. Many kindhearted people lined up, waiting to sign the petition to show their support and condemn the persecution.
The Calgary walk team in Canada started their journey on October 16. They will bring the wonderfulness of Dafa to kindhearted people they meet along the way. Some media promised to write a detailed report about China's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
October 22 marks the third day of "The path of validating Dafa"--a walk event by Falun Gong practitioners in Yilan County, Taiwan. The walkers clarified the truth of Falun Gong to people along the way.
On October 24, the SOS! RescueDrive across Australia team arrived in Bundabory. Upon arrival, Falun Gong practitioners received interviews from various media. Later on, practitioners also visited several government departments.
In the past two months, Washington practitioners have been clarifying the truth and exposing the evil on Capitol Hill. They displayed the wonderfulness of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance) and provided the Chinese delegation and tourists the chance to learn more about the truth of Falun Gong.
On October 21, Dallas practitioners successfully concluded a 24-day (12 hours per day) Hongfa event at the annual Texas State Fair.
MEDIA REPORT
Mr. Willy Wo-LapLam, CNN senior analyst of China issues, pointed out on October 24 that Beijing is suppressing Falun Gong and other groups under the banner of anti-terrorism.
On October 24, Sun (a newspaper in Toronto) published a letter from a reader which pointed out that the true terror in China comes from the rulers of the country, who use violence, propaganda and threats to control everybody within China.
