In October 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal. After being transferred from Beijing police to the provincial office in Beijing, I was kept in a cold, dark room. An officer said to me, "In accordance with the policy from a higher office, to prevent you Falun Gong practitioners from trying to escape, you are only allowed to keep your shorts and a quilt." Three officers then forcibly took the rest of my clothes. It was very cold in Beijing at the time. The temperatures dropped to 2 centigrade and the wind was blowing hard. I could only wrap myself with the quilt to keep warm.

Two days later, police from my county came to take me back. An officer said to me, "You appealed legally, and you didn't cause disturbance to society. However, the practice of Falun Gong is illegal nationwide. You could be free if you would write a guarantee to give up the practice." I said, "Falun Dafa is righteous. Our teacher saves people. I will never give up the practice." Thus, I was kept in the county detention center.

I was detained for 31 days and interrogated 8 times in the county detention center. Every time, I would talk to them patiently about Dafa (great law and universal principle) principles. The police again said, "If you can simply write a guarantee [giving up practicing], you will be free." I told them one should not act or say things against one's conscience; and that I benefited from Dafa, I will never say anything bad about it. A policeman of about 50 years said to his colleagues, "Falun Gong is really worth looking into. With no pay or reimbursement for their expenses, there are constantly people risking their jobs, even life to go to Tiananmen, to appeal or distribute flyers. There has to be something in it."

There were 8 prisoners in the cell with me during my detention. Most of them were rude, and often used foul language. Three days after I entered the cell, I began to talk to them about "Zhuan Falun". Within a few days, everyone became much more civil, the use of foul language lessened considerably.

The days in the detention center were monotonous. Introducing Dafa principles became the only lively part. I spent 18 days introducing "Zhuan Falun" to them; two sessions, completing one chapter a day. I also answered their questions. All of us benefited a lot from this.

After one month of criminal detention, I was bailed out.
