Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the suppression of Falun Gong in China. I appreciate hearing from you, and I share your concerns.

I hope you will be happy to know that in August, I joined several of my colleagues in a letter to the President, asking him to reiterate U.S. opposition to China's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in the strongest possible terms and in every available forum. In particular, the letter asked the President to raise the issue personally with China's leaders at the U.N. summit held earlier this month in New York.

The protection of human rights must continue to be an important priority in United States foreign policy. You can be assured I will keep your views in mind as Congress considers issues relating to China. Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Martin Olav Sabo

Member of Congress
