[Shandong Province] Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Yufeng was beaten to death by police, Wendeng City, Shandong Province
Liu Yufeng, male, 64, Han nationality, retired worker, party member, a villager from the Xiaozetou Village of Songcun Town, Wendeng City, Shandong Province.
Liu Yufeng was an honest and upright man. He was openhearted and publicly recognized as a good person. After practicing Falun Dafa, his diseased body regained health.
On the morning of July 18, 2000, Liu was arrested and detained in the Wendeng Detention Center because he took part in the group practice at Huilong Mountain. On July 19, the detention center called Liu's daughter telling her to bring 200-300 Yuan for her father's medical treatment. On July 22, the Wendeng Detention Center called his daughter again, and told her to take Liu home. When Liu was carried out by his son-in-law, he could neither move nor speak. He was in a coma. Around 10:00 am of July 22, Liu was taken home; at 7:00 am on July 23, he died.
Autopsy by legal medical experts showed that, extravagated blood was discovered in his right eye-rim. There were cuts and bruises on his face, and black and blue marks left by electric shocks on his throat, chest, and legs. The skin had begun to separate from the body, and the soft tissue below the skin was damaged. It was discovered that the second, third, and forth ribs on both the right and left sides were fractured. The upper one-third of the sternum was broken. His whole body was covered with bruises and injuries; it was too horrible to look at! This once high-spirited elderly gentleman unclearly died from torture.
[Shandong Province] Over 200 Practitioners in Wendeng County Held a Group Practice and
Suffered Barbaric Mistreatments Afterwards
At about 5am of July 18, 2000, the Falun Dafa music was heard on the top of the Huilong
Mountain of Wendeng County. Over 200 practitioners climbed up the mountain to join the
group practice. They unfurled banners reading "Falun Dafa is good", "Falun
Dafa is righteous" and "Falun Rotates Forever, The Buddha Law is boundless"
etc before they started the exercises. At around 6am, the group practice started. This was
the first group practice in Wendeng County since July 22, 1999.
When they were practicing the third set of exercise, numerous uniformed and plainclothes
police officers arrived. They torn off the electrical wires, seized the banners, and beat
practitioners and then took them away. Practitioners Fang Zhongchun, Qiu Lijuan and Shui
Mingfa were roped and pushed onto the police vehicle. Other practitioners were all taken
to the yard of Shanxi Village and were interrogated one after another. About 42
practitioners got detained in the Wendeng Detention Center. The rest of them were sent to
a "re-education class (brainwashing class)".
The practitioners in the detention center suffered barbaric mistreatments. Mr. Liu Yufeng
was beaten to death.
Currently, 7 practitioners are still being detained in the detention center. Their lives
are in danger. Many practitioners are detained in the "brainwashing re-education
class". They are suffering physical and verbal abuses and denial of food.
[Shandong Province] The Uncle of Su Gang, who died of forced injections in a mental
hospital, was given 3 years of forced-labor
Mr. Su Gang, a software engineer from Qilu Petrochemical Company in Zibuo City of
Shangdong Province, died of forced injections in a mental hospital for refusing to
renounce his belief. Recently, Su Gang's uncle, Mr. Su Lianxi, has been sent to a labor
camp for 3 years of forced-labor, for exposing Su Gang's death on internet. After Su
Gang's death, the Qilu Petrochemical Company also put employees who were Falun Gong
practitioners under surveillance, and prohibited them to make contact with outside.
[Sichuan Province] The Chongqing City is planning another round of persecutions against
Falun Gong practitioners
The Politics and Law Committee of Chongqing City held an urgent meeting on August 16, 2000
on how to deal with Falun Gong practitioners who have not given up their beliefs. They
decided to start massive arrests of backbone figures, active figures and those who are
still practicing their beliefs on August 18, 2000. Those practitioners who are employed
will be handled by their workplaces. Those who are retired will be arrested by the local
police stations. Then, according to the plan, on August 21, 2000, all of them will be sent
to a countryside to attend the closed-door "transformation class". During the
class, the practitioners will have to cover all the expenses. Those who are transformed or
write pledges or repentances would be immediately released. Those who refuse to do so will
be detained in the class for 3 months. After that, they will be sent to the labor camp for
infinite detention until they change their minds.
The action was planed by following the order from the central leaderships of the communist
regime. The regime's goal was to eliminate Falun Gong in three months by destroying the
reputations of Falun Gong and exhausting practitioners' financial resources.
When the news was posted, it was confirmed that dozens of practitioners had been detained
on the evening of August 17, 2000, one day ahead of the schedule. On the evening of August
18, 2000, the police will imposed a secret curfew in order to arrest Falun Gong
practitioners. It is estimated that the massive arrests will last 2 to 3 days.
We hope that practitioners will try their best to avoid being arrested and detained, and
at the same time to expose the crimes committed by the evil persons against Falun Gong and
its innocent practitioners.
