24th November 2000

Dear Mr. XX,

Thank you for your letter of 25th October, and for the enclosed information of human rights and the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The Falun Dafa quarterly does indeed make for appalling reading, although illuminated by the courage of many of your adherents. I look forward to an early opportunity to lay your letter before The Prince of Wales.

Dear Mr. XX,

Re: TRUTH ABOUT FALUN GONG

Thank you for your letter to Sir David O'Dowd and enclosures of 13 October, I apologise for the delay in replying.

HM Inspectorate of Constabulary works closely with the Departments of State, incuding the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to provide ministers with professional advice of policing matters. Such advice necessarily covers the topic of policing legitimate public protest carried out within the law.

I note the points in your letter to HM Inspecorate does not deal directly with the police force of the People's Republic of China. We are, however, committed to supporting the provisings of the Human Rights Act and the European Countries not signatory to ECHR would nevertheless take its provisions into account.

Thank you once again for writing with information about the work and values of the Falun Gong Association.

Yours sincerely
