[Beijing] Recent Developments

Recently, plain clothes special agents are using a method called "Stick" to trap practitioners on Tiananmen Square. The plainclothesmen will recite some poetry from Hong Yin in public to attract nearby practitioners. This way one special agent can catch 6 to 7 practitioners in a few minutes. To avoid being taken advantage of by these special agents, we hope practitioners will disregard their human thoughts while validating Dafa.

In addition, some special agents can recite Lunyu, short articles, and even some paragraphs of Zhuan Falun, and this can deceive many practitioners. To recognize special agents, some practitioners should ask and discuss some questions about daily life or natural phenomena. The special agents will use normal science theories to explain themselves rather than using Dafa. So we can get some clues from their response. The questions should cover everything in life and nature, so the special agents cannot prepare a list of answers before they talk.

[Beijing] News: Jiang Zemin's Disease Is Real

Informed sources have stated that, beginning last Spring, the government began to ask some Chinese Medical doctors to cure Jiang's leg. But some doctors hated his evil character, so they used all kinds of excuses to decline. They said the dying part of the leg was about the size of a duck's egg in the first half of this year.

Suggestion

We suggest compiling a list of the names of evil people who falsify evidence and fabricate misleading articles to discredit Dafa. We think this should include commentators who fabricate news for The People's Daily, the reporters of some TV stations, and those of other newspapers and magazines. We shall expose these murderers who use their pens to kill the innocent and thereby suffocate the evil from the media.

[Beijing] Save Gao Weiping

Gao Weiping, female, is an editor of the Research Center of China News Agency (affiliated to the Oversea Chinese Office of the State Council). The 7th Department of Beijing Public Security Bureau arrested her on June 9th for writing letters to government offices and democratic parties in order to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. On August 9^th she was transferred to the Procuratorate, but the Procuratorate has neither closed her case nor released her. According to the law, the Procuratorate can investigate for a maximum of three months before closing or dropping the case. Since writing letters didn't violate any law, the Procuratorate cannot charge her. They tried to force her to plead guilty several times, but Gao refused.

We call on overseas practitioners, foreign governments, and Human Rights Organizations to urge the Chinese government to unconditionally release Gao immediately.

[Beijing] Truth of Dafa Known by the Public

In December, I met a few relatives and friends in Beijing. Before I began to introduce Dafa to them, they told me that they had already read articles telling the truth about Dafa. Some found them at their front door, some received them by mail at their work units, some received emails, and some visited renminbao.com (People's Newspaper) on the Internet and saw the articles. Among them, the friend who viewed renminbao.com website had a clear attitude. He said that people had freedom of beliefs, but that Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has interfered with it. This was evil and stupid. The practitioners were cultivating in the Buddha Fa, pursuing the truth. People should support, understand, and sympathize with those practitioners. He also said that a rational person should not be deceived by propaganda from the government. I felt very happy for him and gave him the web address of minghui.org.

I hope practitioners who are using email to distribute Dafa materials will kindly pay attention to the frequency and content of the articles being sent. If receivers get too many emails with similar contents too often, they will be overwhelmed . Please get some feedback, adjust to the receiver's capabilities, and send articles from different perspectives.

[South China] Make Diligent Progress in Fa Rectification

Recently, several small-scale Dafa conferences have been held in a city in southern China. Through studying the most recent lectures by Teacher and exchanging experiences, a majority of practitioners realized the importance of stepping forth to validate the Fa. Many practitioners who had not been able to step forward realized how to cultivate themselves during the Fa rectification, and some of them joined the ranks going to Beijing to uphold the Fa.

[Northeast China] Practitioners in Six Cities of Northeastern China Come Out in Groups to Post Flyers

Quick report: From 6:00 PM December 16, 2000 to 6:00 AM the next morning, Dafa practitioners in six major cities and some affiliated districts and counties joined and simultaneously walked the streets, posting or delivering over 100,000 flyers to clarify the truth of Dafa or materials that help save worldly people. They covered large streets and small alleys, and brought about a new intensive wave of rectifying the Fa, promoting the Fa, and clarifying the truth. Also, not a single person was put in danger. This demonstrated the mighty power of the Fa. The great way takes no fixed form but is left by Teacher to ascend as a whole, and to improve as a whole.

[China] Raise the Understanding on Basis of the Fa, Catch Up with the Steps of Fa Rectification

A while back, everyone realized on the basis of the Fa that we all needed to go to Beijing to validate the Fa and complete the last step of cultivation. Yet there were too many human factors involved. Although many stepped forward, few had reached the criteria. We reviewed the lessons, carefully studied the Fa, and came to a deep understanding that this is cultivation practice instead of work, and corrected ourselves by eliminating various human states. We have organized everyone to study the Fa intensively to catch up with the steps of Fa rectification, to realize the goal and significance of stepping forth in Beijing to validate the Fa, and to truly reach the realm of giving up everything, putting down even life and death. This way, practitioners have rapidly improved and awakened on the basis of the Fa. Everyday, practitioners step forward, and large quantities of truth clarifying materials are being distributed. Even many of those veteran students who could not step forward have started to help some other practitioners when convenient. Three to four hundred Fa conferences have been held in the region, attended by anywhere from three or five to over a hundred practitioners. This has also rapidly spread to neighboring areas. It was found that in neighboring areas, materials from the Internet are in huge demand, and there was none in some areas. We delivered a large quantity of materials to their hands, and a majority of practitioners are extremely resolute. Everyone has felt the change in the cosmic climate.

[Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province] Everyone Is Put to the Test

A while ago, police in Yangzhou arrested a group of former assistants and key contact people of Falun Gong, and all of them were sent to forced labor for two years. These people had been staying at home since the Chinese government banned Falun Gong last July. They did not go to Beijing to appeal, they did not step out to contact and gather with other Falun Gong practitioners, nor did they exercise in public. They did absolutely nothing, and in the end they still could not escape the evil hands. It can be seen from this incident that it will not work for Dafa practitioners to passively try to protect themselves. To hide at home doing "resolute genuine cultivation" can only encourage the evil people.

[Jiangsu Province] Practitioners in a Labor Camp Study Fa in Group

A group of Jiangsu practitioners who went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa were sent to a labor camp, and several dozen Dafa practitioners are in custody there. Some practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the violation of human rights by the police. Later, wardens locked up these practitioners together, and said: "You are allowed to get together to chat, but you can't do the exercises or talk loudly." This way, practitioners conducted group study in this special environment. Without a book, everyone took turns reciting. Those who could not recite simply listened.

[Huairou County, Beijing] Dafa Practitioners Cruelly Persecuted

December 6, 2000, Dafa practitioners from a certain region in China went to Beijing to validate Dafa for the first time. After being arrested, they were sent by force to the Second Detention Center of Huairou County in Beijing by local police.

All Dafa practitioners in this detention center, regardless of age, were sent to ice cold cells. In these cells, they were deprived of living necessities. Many female practitioners had wet pants during menstruation, and requested again and again for hygiene products from guards, but were refused by the evil policewoman Tang Yuwen. Some female practitioners wore wet pants for as long as nine days. When Dafa practitioners sat down to do the exercise, as soon as they were discovered, prison guards would drag them out, kick them, beat them, or shock them with electric batons. Sometimes Dafa practitioners were forced to stand in the open air with only underwear in freezing temperature for the whole night.

Dafa practitioners went on a hunger strike in the cells asking for their unconditional release, but prison guards force fed them. Dafa practitioners were tortured by the cold . One practitioner in her 70's was not able to squat down when a guard demanded it, so she was kicked and pushed down.

[Fushun, Liaoning Province] More than 60 Practitioners Arrested

On December 16, more than 60 practitioners in Fushun City, Liaoning Province were exchanging cultivation experiences at a practitioner's home. The public security bugged the phone, heard this information, and dispatched more than 150 police to arrest the Dafa practitioners. Practitioners were detained on the charge of "illegal practice of Falun Gong and illegal gathering" and were sent to a labor camp and detention center. That night, the police also ransacked Dafa practitioners' homes and took away Dafa books and audiotapes.

[Dalian City, Liaoning Province] The Rampant Activities of Evil Forces in Dalian City

Recently, the Evil Forces in Dalian City are very rampant; some practitioners were arrested while distributing Dafa materials.

Also, the policemen who are computer experts went to the practitioners' work units and homes and restored the deleted files from the "recycle bin" in Windows. Some practitioners were arrested because of this. We hope practitioners can pay attention to this and take effective protective measures. Some practitioners were sentenced to forced labor for making and distributing truthful Dafa materials. Some practitioners are detained in Dalian City Correctional Center. Practitioners who were arrested are very determined and do not sell out others.

[Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] "When Can the Good People See the Clear Sky?"

The former division cadres of Daqing Electric Pump Company, Xing Jinzhi, Song Liqin (their whole family practices Falun Dafa) were detained in the Company's dorm along with other Dafa practitioners since May of 1999. Because Dafa practitioners had been very nice, many kind hearted people advised them to write the promise to quit Falun Gong and to practice secretly after being released. Practitioners said: "We practice Dafa in a dignified way. Cultivating 'truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance' is not wrong, why practice secretly?" Later, their wages were first reduced and then stopped. They were transferred to Daqing City Labor Camp and cannot return home. It is said that Xing Jinzhi, Song Liqin and their daughter and son-in-law were all transferred to Qiqihaer City. Whenever they talk about Dafa practitioners, the employees all say grievously: "When can the good people see the clear sky?"

[Tangshan, Hebei Province]Practitioners in Jidong Oil Field of Sentenced to Forced Labor for Appealing at Tiananmen Square

• Ye Shuxia, female, 3 years of forced labor. She will serve her term outside the labor camp because she was found to have high blood pressure during a physical examination.

At the same time, there were several practitioners from Tanghai County of Hebei Province who were sentenced, but their names are not known. Also, because many practitioners from Tanghai County went to Beijing on October 1, the officials and director of Public Security Bureau of Tanghai County were severely criticized and were ordered to write self-criticism. Therefore, the officials of this county, in order to "make amends for their faults," published a " Tanghai County Falun Gong Practitioner Transformation Situation Survey Form" and asked every one to expose Falun Gong practitioners; otherwise, their wages and pensions would be stopped and they could even be detained. For those detained, the family would have to pay 20,000 Yuan (more than 3 years average salary in China) of cash pledge for bail.

[China]Panic over Media's Report of Flu Outbreak

A wide spread rumor in China said that according to the forecast of experts, flu will break out this winter and next spring. For those infected, it can supposedly be fatal. The TV station announced that in an early 20^th century flu outbreak, the number of people who died exceeded the number of people killed during World War I. This caused many people to feel helpless and in a panic.
