My name is Ye Hongfang, and I'm a 31-year-old female Falun Dafa practitioner from Heyuan City of Guangdong Province. In September 1999, when I heard that the government had labeled Falun Gong a XX, I went to Beijing for the second time and planned to appeal to the government and tell them the truth about Falun Gong. On October 13, 1999, I was detained in the Chaoyang District of Beijing. After I was sent back to Heyuan City, I was given 15 days of administrative detention, and then I was put on criminal detention when my administrative detention had ended. The police said they planned to give me 3 years of forced-labor education.

On November 23, 1999, Zhang Riqiang, a policeman from the Heyuan Police Department (currently the director of the Political Security Division), in collaboration with my company-Heyuan Electrical Power Industry Bureau, brought me out of the Bailingshan Detention Center and put me into Huizhou City Mental Hospital. (Note: The police coaxed my family into believing that if I were put into the mental hospital, I would not be given labor terms). Upon entering the mental hospital, they tied me up and began to inject me with bottles of medications and forced me to take medicine that was meant for mental patients.

I told the staff in the Hospital that I was sent here only because I persisted in practicing Falun Gong and that I did not have a mental illnesses. A doctor said: "You were too stubborn; being like that was considered an illness." A doctor with the surname Luo always asked me when checking the room each day: "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong? He said he would come to give me injections so long as I did not change my mind. Every day I was forced to take medicine twice in doses of 12-13 pills each. The daily injections and taking medicine made me feel very tired. I lacked strength and felt unclear in my head. Later on, my husband bailed me out on leave. In that approximately one month period, I was injected with 26 bottles of narcotics.

In late January 2000, I visited a good friend of mine (also a Dafa practitioner) in the neighboring county. After learning this, Heyuan police spoke with my company and planned to put me into the mental hospital again. My husband pleaded with policeman Huang Xiaobo (currently the deputy director of Yuancheng Sub Police Station of Heyuan City) and Zhang Riqiang, etc. not to send me to the hospital. They were reluctant to do so and said that I should return home on leave. At that time, Huang Xiaobo told me at my home that the only way they would not send me to the mental hospital was if I promised not to appeal and not to be in contact with other practitioners. Obviously the police were fully aware that I had no mental problems. They resorted to such contemptible means in order to prevent me from appealing in Beijing and from contacting other practitioners. Since I did not promise, they pressed me against the bed and gave me an injection. A while later, I felt weak all over, muddle-headed, sleepy and itchy all over the body. Then, they forced me into the vehicle.

Thus, I was sent into the Huizhou City Mental Hospital for the second time. The people in my company told Doctor Luo not to give me leave until after the two Meetings (the People's Congress and Political Consultation Meeting) were over lest I would appeal during that period of time. Although my husband pleaded with Doctor Luo not to give me injections, he gave me an injection of narcotics nonetheless, and forced me to take medicine twice a day. When I refused to take the medicine, they forced me to take it using electric batons. This time, the side effects from taking the medicine were even worse. I had cramps all over my body, my arms and legs felt numb, I had blurred vision, felt a lack of strength, felt stuffy and incurred disorder in my menstrual periods. By around March 10th, I felt like a disabled person and I nearly collapsed mentally. They did not allow me to return home until March 20th. By then, my health was ruined and I had become extremely weak. I had difficulty doing the grocery shopping, handling light chores around the house, writing, or even reading. It was not until two months later that my health began to recover.

On June 4, 2000, I went to visit a classmate and dropped by a practitioner's home for a while. Soon afterwards, policemen Liao Wu, Zhang Wenjie, etc. came in and sent me to Bailingtou Detention Center for detention. The fellow practitioner was detained for about two months before she was bailed out by her company paying RMB3,000 as bail. I was released on August 30, when my husband paid RMB3,000 as bail. The police attempted to send me to the mental hospital again. But they encountered strong opposition from my family. So they eventually gave up that plan.

On September 25, 2000, my company agreed to let me resume my work. However, on the third day back at my job, policemen Liao Wu, Zhang Riqiang and Zhang Wenjie came to my company and questioned me about my recent opinion about Falun Gong and asked where I had gone after work for the past two days. Then they forced me into a vehicle and brought me to Bailingtou Detention Center. Their actions aroused anger and feelings of resentment from the onlookers. I was released 15 days later.

Thereafter, I was placed under close surveillance by the police. Under the pressure and instructions from the police, the leaders of my company and my family members tried to transform my thoughts and forced me to turn in my Dafa books. Understanding that the police would find excuses to detain me at any time and that I could no longer stay safely at home, I left my home on October 15th, 2000.

I became a wandering destitute far from my home and faced a lot of hardship. In actuality, there are many practitioners facing similar situations like me. And there are more practitioners who are in situations even worse than I am.

I am also very concerned with those people who do not know the truth. They are fooled by vicious and evil lies and are doing things that will one day lead them to hell. I sincerely suggest that they not help the tyrants do evil things. I want to further appeal to all kind-hearted people to render their support and help.

Dafa practitioner, Ye Hongfang
