[People's News] Many people are not interested in the Falun Gong issue, thinking it has nothing to do with them. Many others, especially corrupt government officials and unethical merchants, have a strong resentment of Falun Gong for the following reasons:

First, Falun Gong practitioners believe that good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil. The universe is absolutely fair to everyone: we will all have to pay the exact amount that we owe. They don't like this. They would say, "I have just made a little more money. Although this money came from someone else's pocket, that was because they were not capable. If I don't take advantage of them, someone else will, so this is not my fault. I may have taken a bribe and a kickback here and there, but that's how the system works. Everybody does it so I did not hurt anyone. But according to Falun Gong, I am a bad person, and thus will be repaid with evil. Falun Gong is very bad, and should be eliminated. I think Buddhism is great. As long as we donate some money to build a temple or support the monks, all of our sins will be forgiven. This way, I can pay them off with half of the money I made and it's still a good deal. So Buddhism is good."

Second, they say, "Falun Gong practitioners have nothing to do with corruption, prostitution, gambling, drinking, cheating or stealing. Everyone says they are good people. Then, by that standard, aren't we bad people? This is not fair; they should be eliminated. It would be great if everyone would be like us."

Third, some scientists are against Falun Gong. They say, "None of the things that Falun Gong teaches can be proved with modern science. If that is true, then everything that I have been studying and teaching, as well as everything I have become famous for will be discarded. This is totally unreasonable."

Fourth, some monks are against Falun Gong, because, "Falun Gong believes Buddhism is just a small part of Buddha's law. Falun Gong is also a form of Buddha law cultivation, but because people can learn it for free, many disciples of Buddhism have converted to Falun Gong. Now, fewer people believe in us and support us financially. This is simply not acceptable. We will have to find ways to get these people back, so let's get rid of Falun Gong!"

According to my understanding, Master Li has taught that once the orthodox Fa spreads to the public, everything that is not right, or not quite right will be exposed under its bright light. So people who are doing evil will be naturally against the orthodox Fa.

Some people say that Falun Gong practitioners cause trouble, and thus harm the stability of society, affect other people's benefits, and violate other people's human rights. Thus Falun Gong is evil. According to this kind of logic, Dou E (a character that died from injustice in an ancient drama) violated human rights because the injustice done to her moved heaven and earth to make it snow in the middle of the summer. The snow harmed many crops, and made people catch a cold and get sick. So, who would say Dou E was to blame for this? Those in favor of this kind of logic are politicians who put their personal gains above the public interests, corrupt government officials, villains, and unethical merchants.
