Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners wrote a brief letter to Li Ruihuan, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which are published on two major local newspapers on November 6. The letter welcomed Chairman Li Ruihuan to visit Hong Kong, and asked him to uphold justice by stopping President Jiang Zemin and his aids from continuing an "illegal" crackdown on Falun Gong.

On the same day, Hong Kong practitioners also prepared an open letter to Chairman Li Ruihuan, and managed to pass it to him later.

Li Ruihuan made a five-day visit to Hong Kong for a ceremony to mark the centenary of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. He arrived in Hong Kong on November 5.

The Greeting Letter placed in Apple Daily and Sing Tao Daily is as follows:

Respected Chairman Li Ruihuan,

Welcome to Hong Kong!

As one of the top leaders of the country, you empathize with the situation of the people, and show solicitude for their needs and worries. Thus, you have gained the hearts of the people. We believe that you have paid attention to the unfair and brutal treatment of Falun Gong on the Mainland. We sincerely hope that you and other kind-hearted government leaders can stand on the side of the people to defend Falun Gong, stop President Jiang Zemin and his aides from continuing an "illegal" crackdown on Falun Gong and resolve the dispute in a "peaceful and fair" way.

May your visit be happy and successful!
