Huang Xinjin, female, over 40 years of age, a teacher at the Xiyang Elementary School in Wuwei County, Gansu Province.

In the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar this year, Huang Xinjin visited a fellow practitioner's home and ran into the police who had come to arrest the practitioner. The practitioner was taken to the police vehicle. Huang said, "I am also a Falun Gong practitioner." Since then, police have often paid her visits at home, trying to force her to write a pledge to renounce Falun Gong. She said she would rather die than write the pledge. Through the local education commission, police applied pressure on her. She was dismissed from her teaching post and stopped getting her salary. Her husband also abused and beat her. Later, police sent her to a mental hospital where she was tortured ruthlessly for more than 20 days. Upon returning home, she was put under house arrest and forbidden to contact anyone. A couple of weeks later, her family claimed that she jumped out of the building. Her husband reported the incident to the Public Security Bureau. Videos were made and broadcast on television reports that claimed that she had become mentally ill because of practicing Falun Gong and died when she jumped off the building. She was cremated without an autopsy from legal medical experts.

She left a will, at the end of which she wrote Master's words, "No pursuit when living, and upon death no regret for leaving. By clearing up all delusions, to cultivate a Buddha is not hard." It could be seen her mind was still clear, and there was no mental illness. Huang Xinjin's death was caused entirely by the overwhelming persecution she suffered from the police.

Also, practitioners who go to Beijing to safeguard the Fa are put in custody and fined by the police in Wuwei County. The lesser fine is a few thousand RMB yuan (several months worth of income in cities with a much higher average income than in Wuwei County), but it could be anywhere up to ten thousand RMB yuan. If not paid, homes are ransacked for valuables. The persecution of Dafa practitioners has turned out to be a great opportunity for the police to get rich quick.
