Case Description:

Ms. Gao Chunhua, who is in her late 60s, lived in Zhongshan District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. In February 2001, she was arrested by the Xigang District Police Department for clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa. She was sent to Dalian Forced Labor Camp to be persecuted. While in detention, she was shocked with electric batons. Later she had difficulty swallowing food. A diagnosis found that she had a tumor in her esophagus. In July she was released, but the local police still requested that she write a repentance statement every month and report to the police station. She firmly rejected, however her husband was afraid so he wrote a repentance statement for her and turned it in.

On April 25, 2002, the police went to her home again to harass her. Failing to find anything they considered evidence to convict her, the police left, but returned two nights later. This time her family refused to let them in. Ever since then, her family lived in constant fear. In order not to get into trouble, her family forced her to go out to play mahjong with friends during the day, and at night they watched over her, and prevented her from practicing Falun Gong exercises. Soon her old illnesses relapsed. She was checked into the hospital, however despite the medical treatment, she passed away in April 2003.
