Case Description:
Female Dafa practitioner Guo Shuyan, 38-years old, lived in Jidongyu Township of Liaoyang County, Liaoning Province. On December 17 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested on the same day for speaking out in defense of Dafa. She was detained in the Liaoyang Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for several days to protest against the illegal persecution, but was still sentenced to 3 years of forced labor. When she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, the labor camp authorities refused to take her since she was so weak from the hunger strike that the physical examination diagnosed her as being in critical condition. Out of a personal vendetta, the corrupt Jidongyu Township police station officer Tang Lianchang, along with the County officers in charge of the case, decided to pay the chief and other doctors of the Masanjia Labor Camp Hospital to sign off on the physical examination results so that the labor camp would accept Guo Shuyan. (Guo Shuyan heard them discussing the matter when they thought she could not hear). However, the labor camp hospital chief refused their bribe because Guo Shuyan was in critical condition and could die any minute. Since neither the local police station nor the labor camp would take that responsibility, Tang Lianchang called Guo Shuyan's husband with the false claim that they needed money for Guo's medical treatment. Guo's husband refused to cooperate with them. Finally, Tang Lianchang had to send Guo back home at 2:00 pm on December 20. (The above information was told by Guo Shuyan herself.) Because her stomach was very weak, Guo Shuyan threw up everything she ate at home, including the rice gruel and milk. Later she even threw up blood. On December 31 about 10:00 a.m, she felt very dizzy and passed away 10 minutes later.
