Mr. Zhang Anpu, 38, was an electrician, and lived in Tongcheng County, Xianning City, Hubei Province. On April 6, 2006, he was arrested by three plainclothes policemen at the New Post Office street side, located in Beimen, Tongcheng County seat. He was then detained in the Tongcheng County,.
Inside the detention center, Mr. Zhang Anpu was cruelly beaten by guards, causing his whole body to swell, and he appeared to have heart disease. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials extorted four thousand yuan from his family, and released him at 11:00 a.m. on April 29, 2006. Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Zhang Anpu died at 10:00 a.m. on April 30, 2006.
