[Qidong County, Hunan Province] Mr. Tan Bangyan Dies After Being PersecutedNNSeveral people including He Zhengrong, head of Qidong County Politic and Security Division, went to Mr. Tan Bangyan’s home at 10 p.m. on November 10, 2002. They ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books and flyers. Mr. Tan was taken to the Lingguan Town Police Station. He was handcuffed and hung up by his handcuffed wrists for seven days and nights. He was transferred to the Qidong County Detention Center on November 18, 2002.NNMr. Tan was tried secretly in the Qidong County Court in April 2004 and was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was detained in the Jinshi Prison in Changde City and released in November 2010 at the age of 73.NNMr. Tan was constantly harassed after he was released. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 76.
