Wu Guofeng - 吴国凤
(Minghui.org) Ms. Wu Guofeng was a resident of Youyan City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested soon after the persecution began in July 1999. The police beat her and shocked her with electric batons. They once injected her with unknown drugs. She escaped, and the police put her on the wanted list with a 30,000 yuan reward. She wandered around for two years and was arrested in another city in June 2002. She was sentenced to 12 years and sent to Liaoning Province Women's Prison in July 2003.
Ms. Wu was once beaten so badly that she became incontinent. The prison guards also forced her to do unpaid labor for long periods of time. She suffered nerve damage as a result and remained bedridden for more than nine years in prison. For two winters, she was forced to sleep on the cement floor in a unheated room.
The prison released her in late 2013 when she was on the verge of death. Ms. Wu improved somewhat after she resumed doing Falun Gong exercises at home, but her health took a turn for the worse in 2017, when she was hospitalized at least nine times.
She died on July 13, 2018. She was 73.
