  • Four Falun Gong Practitioners in Hubei Province Die as a Result of Persecution

Mr. Guo Jitang was born on October 28, 1952. He learned Falun Gong in 1998. He lived in Zhengyuan Village, Phoenix Town, Xinzhou District of Wuhan City in Hubei Province. While he was clarifying the truth to the local residents in April 2005, people deceived by the propaganda reported him and Mr. Guo was therefore severely beaten by the police. In great agony, Guo Jitang succumbed to his injuries on the night of April 25, 2005. According to Mr. Guo's family, his body was badly beaten and was fully covered with bruises and blood. His clothes were torn apart.

Mr. Li Zhijia, 49, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Hanchuan City, Hubei Province. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. In October 1999, he went to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in Beijing. He was illegally detained for more than four months and had over 2,000 yuan extorted from him. In June 2000, Li Zhijia once again went to Beijing to clarify the facts and was again illegally arrested and detained for several months. In August 2001, Mr. Li was distributing truth-clarification materials and was arrested and sentenced to the Shayang Forced Labor Camp for a year after he was reported to the police. During his forced labor term, he was severely persecuted. He developed stomach disease, which steadily worsened. After he was released, Li Zhijia was forcibly taken by agents from the local 610 Office to a brainwashing center. The guards in the center continuously harassed him which caused his stomach disease to deteriorate further. Mr. Li passed away on March 3, 2006.

Mr. Zhou Wenchao, 36, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Hanchuan City of Hubei Province. He had various illnesses including Hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis before he started the practice. His illnesses were cured after his regular practice of Falun Gong in 1996. He felt he had gained many benefits through practicing Falun Gong. He therefore wanted to appeal when the practice was violently persecuted in 1999. He went to Beijing to appeal for justice in April 2000, and was arrested by the local police and detained for more than forty days. Mr. Zhou was extorted out of more than 2,000 yuan. The police continued to harass him until he became mentally unstable. He was in that state for a long time. Eventually, his liver illness recurred. Zhou Wenchao passed away on August 6, 2005.

Another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Yang Cuixian, who lived in Liuge Town, Hanchuan City of Hubei Province, also had various illnesses before she practiced Falun Gong. She regained her health after she started the practice. When the persecution began in 1999, the Liuge Police Station attempted to send Ms. Yang to a brainwashing class but failed. Since then, Yang Cuixian was constantly harassed. Her son-in-law was sent to a forced labor camp. Many other members of her daughter's family were also detained and persecuted by the brutal Party for a long time. Ms. Yang's body and mind were traumatized by the ongoing persecution against her and her family, and she passed away in early 2006.

Almost a Year after Ms. Gao Rongrong was Persecuted to Death, Perpetrators Still Not Brought to Justice

It has been almost one year since Ms. Gao Rongrong was tortured to death, but the people and departments involved in persecuting her have not been brought to justice.

Recently, Ms. Gao Rongrong's parents and sister appealed to many different government departments, but to no avail. The departments usually responded either that they would hold a meeting to discuss the issue, that they were too busy with something else, or that they should go home and wait for an answer from the government.

Ms. Gao's parents braved the chilly winds and cold temperatures to meet with someone from the Liaoning Province Prosecuting Bureau. However, no one would come out to meet them and they could not get inside the building.

Shortly before Ms. Gao Rongrong passed away, the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City, the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, the Liaoning Provincial Judicial Bureau, and the Department of Forced Labor of Liaoning Province conspired to give the same replies to her family, "Be assured that the murderer will be brought to justice. You don't have to come here to appeal. Simply go home and wait. Gao Rongrong will not encounter any danger this time. It is simply because our superiors have not reached a conclusion on her case." During this whole process, however, no one ever mentioned to Ms. Gao's family that she was on the verge of death.

On June 16, 2005, 37-year-old Ms. Gao died in the emergency room of the 1st Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. Officials from the labor camps, judicial bureau and provincial forced labor department who repeatedly stated that the "higher authorities" had not reached a conclusion regarding Ms. Gao's case are now pressuring her family members to have her cremated, thereby destroying all evidence of torture.

According to an inside source, upon learning that several Falun Gong practitioners had rescued Ms. Gao after her tragic suffering in the Longshan Forced Labor Camp, Luo Gan, a member of the Communist Party (CCP) Central Political Bureau Standing Committee and Head of the 610 Office, personally took charge of Ms. Gao's case. He designated Ms. Gao's escape as the "Number 26 Major Case."

On June 12, 2005, Ms. Gao Rongrong's parents received notice that they could finally visit her in the hospital. By the time they arrived at the hospital at around 9:00 a.m., Ms. Gao was unconscious, her internal organs were shutting down, she was emaciated, and she was breathing through a machine. The doctors told them, "She arrived at the hospital in critical condition."

    I. Shocked by Electric Batons Continuously for Seven Hours, she was Severely Disfigured

Ms. Gao Rongrong was an accountant at the Luxun Fine Arts College in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. When the persecution began in 1999, she was a major target of the persecution. She lost her job because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong. When she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, she was arrested and held for several months. She was sent to the Longshan Forced Labor Camp in July 2003.

At the labor camp, Ms. Gao was severely tortured. As a result, she suffered from abdominal pain, pain near her liver, intermittent fever and persistent nausea, and the inability to eat. Deputy head Tang Yubao of the No. 2 Group slapped her face until she lost hearing in one ear.

On March 22, 2004, Ms. Gao refused to attend a meeting that slandered Falun Gong. Tang Yubao pulled her out of bed, grabbed her by the neck, dragged her outside, and beat her. Several team leaders pinned Ms. Gao to a chair. Tang Yubao also ordered two team leaders to carry Ms. Gao into the Administration Section office and handcuff her to a heating pipe. Then they beat her and shocked her head, face, neck, hands, and feet with electric batons for thirty minutes. Later, labor camp head Li Fengshi walked in and ignored the guards' abuse of Gao Rongrong. Instead, he said to her, "This is an autocratic government agency. What do you think the handcuffs and electric batons are there for? I don't believe they can't discipline you, little Gao Rongrong."

In April 2004, the Longshan Forced Labor Camp detained 52-year-old practitioner Ms. Wang Xiuyuan from the Shenhe District, Shenyang City, by extending her term. She passed away on April 27, 2004, one week after she was released.

On May 7, 2004, Tang Yubao, deputy head of the No. 2 Group, and team leader Jiang Zhaohua, called Ms. Gao Rongrong to the duty office. They shocked her with electric batons for over six consecutive hours, starting at 3:00 p.m. and not stopping until after 9:00 p.m. She sustained severe burns on her face, head, and neck, which caused her face to swell and become disfigured. Her face was covered with blisters, her hair was matted with blood, and pus adhered to her scorched skin. She could barely open her eyes and her mouth was also severely swollen and deformed. Even the inmates who stayed in the same cell could not recognize Ms. Gao.

The picture shows her face after the blisters had dried up, with the scars still present. The scars on some parts of her face are thick, which shows the severity of the electric shock. The authorities shocked many parts of her face repeatedly. Many blisters and burn scars overlapped in layers.

The doctors did not apply any medication to Ms. Gao's scorched face because applying medication, from the perspective of medical treatment, would leave too much pigment accumulating on her facial skin.

On May 7, 2005, practitioners Liu Jinzhi, Sun Yan, Jin Kegui, Liang Sujie, and Wang Yu were shocked with electric batons by Tang Yubao, Jiang Zhaohua and Wang Jichang. Among them, Ms. Sun Yan's face, mouth, neck, hands, and feet developed numerous cracks as a result of being shocked. Her mouth was swollen, and her hands and feet were burned. Tang Yubao shocked Ms. Jin Kegui on her face, causing severe burns and swelling. The skin surrounding her eyes became blue and purple. Pus seeped out from the cracks in her skin. She became disabled after the torture. Her daughter requested to visit her, but the camp authorities refused. Her daughter could only sadly yell, "Mom! Mom! I want to see my mom!"

After Ms. Gao Rongrong suffered seven hours of inhumane torture, she was compelled to jump out of a second story window to try to escape further persecution. As a result, she sustained two fractures to her pelvis, and her left leg and right heel were also broken. She was too weak to undergo surgery.

When Ms. Gao was receiving treatment in the First Hospital affiliated with the China University of Medicine, the Longshan Forced Labor Camp and the Shenyang City's Judicial Bureau constantly dispatched personnel to harass her, which worsened her health. The Longshan Forced Labor Camp police closely monitored her all day long and often deliberately provoked her family members. Police officers slept on the sofa in the ward day and night. Two policemen, Zeng Xiaoping and Wang Jichang, who participated in tormenting and abusing Ms. Gao, were assigned to guard her at the hospital.

Beginning on August 9, Ms. Gao had blood in her urine and she could not take in food or water. Her eyes had sunk into their sockets, and her whole body was completely out of shape. The doctors notified the police the she could die at any time and issued several "critical notices." However, the supervisors at the Longshan Forced Labor Camp and Shenyang City's Judicial Bureau refused to release her. They claimed that the hospital would give emergency treatment and they would not let Ms. Gao go home even if she died.

II. Obstructed by the Authorities when Appealing

After May 7, 2004, when Ms. Gao's face was disfigured by electric shocks, the departments involved in her case made no comments. Ms. Gao's family members have appealed her case according to the law, but the only reply they received was that her case had been taken over by the "special cases team." Her medical test results are not on file at the provincial level and her case is now in the hands of the Central Government's 610 Office.

The following is Ms. Gao's account of how her family members were stonewalled in their appeals process. It is also an account of the continued torment she suffered at the hands of the police while being treated at the hospital.

"Shenyang City Judicial Bureau personnel did not make arrangements for any examination of my injuries, saying that they were 'investigating the case.' They never came to talk to me, the victim, for five whole months, while they were supposedly investigating the case. Instead, they exerted pressure on the medical staff that was treating my injuries through the hospital's Party committee. In fact, they continued to torment and abuse me while I was undergoing medical treatment, saying that they would never release me, even if I died."

Because the Shenyang City Judicial Bureau illegally shielded the crimes of the Longshan Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Gao's family appealed to the Shenyang City Prosecuting Bureau on behalf of Ms. Gao. In addition, the National Prosecuting Departments had launched a movement dedicated to "Seriously Investigate the Cases Wherein Governmental Staff Take Advantage of their Privilege to Invade Human Rights" from May 2004 to June 2005.

On how her case was handled by the prosecuting bureau, Ms. Gao said,

"As early as July 1, when Shenyang City's Prosecuting Bureau personnel came to investigate the case, staff members Wang Hui and Liu Ge (both female) rushed to the hospital to find out what happened. They returned to the ward again in the afternoon, telling me that someone had reported my case to them. They also took notes and took photos of my facial injuries."

"At just past 2:00 p.m. that same day, Liu Ge, Wang Hui, and a middle-aged man came to my ward again, saying that a man named Li was the head of Shenyang City's Political and Judicial Committee. The man asked me if my facial injuries hurt. Then he pressed on the scabs on my face and quickly peeled off one of the scabs. The torn-off piece did not fall off because it stuck to the thin dressing. When my family members stopped him, they quickly left."

"On July 8, Shenyang City's Prosecuting Bureau asked a forensic doctor from Liaoning Provincial Prosecuting Bureau to check my injuries and take photos. They were shocked when they saw my disfigured face."

Normally, the forensics report only takes a couple of weeks to complete and certain measures should have been taken by the prosecuting bureau. However, Ms. Gao and her family never heard from the prosecuting bureau again. When they went to check with the staff, the responsible person told them that the CCP Committee and Politics and Law Committee of Shenyang City established a "special case team" for Ms. Gao's case, and Shenyang City's Prosecuting Bureau didn't have the authority to investigate the case.

In August 2004, when Ms. Gao was in critical condition, her family went to the Politics and Law Committee of Shenyang City and the city's 610 Office and requested that her case be handled properly. The reply they received was, "We are not responsible for handling her case." One month later, Ms. Gao's family received another reply, saying that the case was assigned to a "special case team." The forensic results were not in any departments in Liaoning Province, and the Central 610 Office was directly handling her case.

III. The Public Security Ministry's "Number 26 Major Case"

On the afternoon of October 5, 2004, with the help of fellow practitioners, Ms. Gao Rongrong escaped from the hospital while under tight security. It was said that this incident shook the higher ranks in Beijing, especially the CCP Politburo Member Luo Gan, who is in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong. He personally designated Ms. Gao's escape as the "Number 26 Major Case" for the Public Security Ministry. Furthermore, he ordered a systematic search to find Ms. Gao, and mobilized each level of the government to plan accordingly.

Party Deputy Secretary of Shenyang City Liu Yaqin, female, issued orders that each work unit was to be vigilant, take immediate action, and view this search as a high priority operation. Monetary reward and employment opportunity were given to those who provided information regarding Ms. Gao and those who helped her escape. Each office in every city and county had to conduct a thorough search, focusing on practitioners, and their relatives' homes and rental houses. Liu Yaqin also ordered the police to solve the case as soon as possible.

Officials of Shenyang City's Judicial Bureau directed Liaoning Province's Transportation Radio Station to broadcast fabricated news in order to ferret out Ms. Gao Rongrong's whereabouts and arrest her.

In their news story, the Judiciary Department dared not to mention that Ms. Gao was a Falun Gong practitioner and that her face was disfigured as a result of the persecution. Instead, the fabricated news claimed that a helpless woman was kidnapped. They said, "The Judiciary Department is eagerly helping the victim's family by trying to find her." Furthermore, the Department lied, saying that the Gao family would greatly reward anyone who finds Ms. Gao.

The police stations and the police precincts at the railroads, commercial aviation sites, and Shenyang's oilfield and surrounding cities and regions received orders to apprehend Ms. Gao. In addition, they received a "Notice for Assistance in Investigation" originating on a letterhead from Shenyang City's Judicial Bureau. The notice said, "Gao Rongrong is thin, weighing only 90 pounds. There are obvious scars on the left side of her face. She is unable to walk by herself."

The Liaoning Provincial 610 Office, the Liaoning Provincial Judicial Bureau and the Shenyang City Security Bureau created a "Special Working Group" and set up a special office and interrogation room in the small white building of Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. Every practitioner who was suspected of having any connection with Ms. Gao was taken in for interrogation. They publicly announced their names on websites and followed and monitored these practitioners for the most opportune time to arrest them.

Zhangshi's "small building," which used to be the guesthouse for inmates' family members, was turned into a place specifically to persecute practitioners in early 2001. Over half of the rooms are used to brainwash practitioners. The torture methods used there are extremely cruel.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Hong was in her 30s. She was transferred from the Longshan Forced Labor Camp to the Zhangshi "small building" in mid June 2001. She was tortured for 18 days, which included sleep deprivation, squatting and folding of the body for eight hours, beatings, and being force-fed with a mixture of concentrated saline solution and cornbread. In early July, she was sent back to the Longshan Forced Labor Camp for further persecution. As a result, she experienced kidney failure. Although she was released in late August, she died a few days later.

Ms. Yang Sulan from the Huanggu District in Shenyang City was 65 years old. She was sent to the Zhangshi "small building" in October 2002. Nearly ten people attacked and humiliated her and deprived her of sleep. They choked her until she couldn't raise her arms. They threatened that if she didn't "reform," she would be sentenced to forced labor or prison. After more than fifty days of severe torture, Ms. Yang was released. She died at home on June 1, 2003.

IV. Ms. Gao Rongrong is Illegally Arrested for the Second Time

At 3:00 a.m. on March 6, 2005, the National Security Group of the Shenyang City Police Department conspired with the State Security Team of the Tiexi Section Police Office of Shenyang City to illegally arrest Ms. Gao again. The officials included Chief Ma of the National Security Group of the Shenyang City Police Department (around 40 to 50 years old), team member Liu Bo, whose office is located at Malu Bay, Heping Section Chief Zhang (40 to 50 years old), Chief Li Shuwen of the State Security Team of the Tiexi Section Police Office, Commissioner Feng Deli, Deputy Chief Wang Anyu, team member Yang Hai, Zheng Zhiguo, Li Qiang and others. Another person whose name is unknown participated in the arrest of Mr. Sun Shiyou, who helped in rescuing Ms. Gao when she was in the hospital. On March 5, this person broke into Mr. Sun's room through a window in his fifth floor apartment, took him to the Criminal Police Office located on the first floor of the Tiexi Section Police Office Building, and viciously beat him.

In late February and early March 2005, everyone who was involved in the rescue of Ms. Gao was arrested and taken to the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp, then to the Masanjia Women's Forced Labor Camp, and finally the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp. Meanwhile, they kept Ms. Gao's whereabouts secret after her arrest on March 6.

Ms. Gao Rongrong's parents had returned to Shenyang after going on a trip and found that she had disappeared. The staff from Shenyang City Police Department, the Heping Sub-bureau, and the local police station refused to disclose her whereabouts. Her former employer, Luxun Academy of Fine Art, even issued a phony document in late March, alleging that Ms. Gao had left China.

In March 2005, Ms. Gao's parents went to the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp to inquire about her. Shi Fengyou, who was in charge of brainwashing practitioners, told them, "The Zhangshi Re-education Center did not accept Gao Rongrong," and that he had seen her in the Masanjia hospital. He later changed his statement and said that he saw Ms. Gao when he took Dong Jingya (another detained practitioner) to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Shi Fengyou stated, "The situation is under control. You don't need to look any further. Her legs have not returned to normal. She can't stand upright yet. When all is well, she will be sent home. She is doing fine."

Ms. Gao Rongrong's father asked, "Has Luo Gan been personally involved in handling this case?" Shi Fengyou answered, "Luo Gan has given direction, as this matter has too big of a worldwide impact. Let us 'handle the situation well.'"

Ms. Gao's elderly parents went to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp again, but no one would meet with them. Only after intense persistence did manager Su Jing come to meet with them. Su Jing said, "It can be said that Gao Rongrong is at Masanjia, though she is not here in person." She told them that she was unable to see Ms. Gao, as the appropriate authorities were interrogating her.

In early April, Ms. Gao's parents went to Masanjia again. They found Su Jing and asked about Ms. Gao's hunger strike. Su said, "At this time, everything is well. She is eating very well." Ms. Gao's mother asked, "Didn't you say that you were unable to see Gao Rongrong? How can you be so sure that she is eating well?" Su replied, "I have been informed about it. I do know."

They asked where Ms. Gao was and requested to see her in person. Su Jing refused the request and told them to go home. She said that they had to wait for instructions from persons at higher levels who were handling her case.

Ms. Gao's family went to Masanjia many times to try to see their daughter and ask for her release. Deputy Zhao (female) met with them every time. One time, Ms. Gao's mother asked about her broken leg and requested to see her. Zhao said, "She is doing well. You don't need to worry about having to bring food to her." The mother suggested again that she would like to take Ms. Gao home to nurse her leg, but Zhao claimed, "We can't let her go home the way she looks at this time. The social impact would not be good."

Shi Fengyou from the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp, Su Jing, deputy director Zhao from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, and officials from the provincial judiciary department and the forced labor bureau all said that the law would accordingly punish the perpetrators. They told the family to go home and wait for more information and that "their superiors" had not reached a conclusion regarding the case. "This time, Ms. Gao Rongrong is not in trouble. The people who carried her away are in trouble, not Ms. Gao. We will send her home once the case is wrapped up. Furthermore, we will discuss the issue of treating her legs and whether to treat her first or let her go home and receive treatment there." From the beginning to the end of the inquiries, no one ever mentioned that Ms. Gao was on a hunger strike and in critical condition.

    V. Tragic Stories from Before and After Gao Rongrong Passed Away

Masanjia Forced Labor Camp authorities sent Ms. Gao Rongrong to the No. 1 Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University on June 6, 2005, for emergency treatment after she was locked in the Prison Hospital of Dabei Prison, Shenyang City. There are at least five cells in the prison hospital that detain Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners, with each cell holding from four to ten people. However, Ms. Gao was detained alone in the No. 1 cell.

Two women wearing white "doctor" jackets took turns monitoring Ms. Gao around the clock. Detainees in the other cells later recognized the two women as prison guards from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. They weren't medical workers at all.

On June 10, 2005, three months after Ms. Gao's arrest, her parents went to the Masanjia Labor Camp to inquire if she was there. Director Wang said, "At first we didn't want to take her. It was the 'higher-ups' that pressured me. Now I will wait for orders from them as to when to let people visit and when to release her." He didn't mention at all that Ms. Gao was at the brink of death.

At around 9:00 a.m. on June 12, after receiving a notice, Ms. Gao's parents rushed to the hospital. They saw that Ms. Gao was at death's door after being diagnosed with systemic failure. She had a very weak pulse. She was hooked up to an oxygen tank and was emaciated. She was unconscious and did not react to outside stimuli. The scars on her face from the electric shocks were still deep.

One of Ms. Gao's relatives with some medical knowledge immediately pointed out that she was not receiving enough nutritional supplements and those that were administered were not appropriate for her condition. He concluded that Ms. Gao suffered failure of bodily systems caused by long-term malnutrition and was starving to death.

The emergency room doctor in charge of Ms. Gao's case said, "She was in critical condition when she arrived here on June 6."

Ms. Gao's family members questioned the guards from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp who were posted by her room, "Why is she in such a condition? Why didn't you notify us earlier?" The guards all said that they had just started working for the labor camp, so they did not know anything about Ms. Gao.

Witnesses said that there were many strangers watching each door and gate of the hospital. The many plainclothes security and uniformed officers asked each other frequently, "When will she die?"

Meanwhile, several government representatives remained around Ms. Gao's home. They told Ms. Gao's neighbors, "Ms. Gao Rongrong is on a hunger strike, and she is dying."

On June 16, 2005, Ms. Gao died in the emergency room of the 1st Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. She was only 37 years old when she died. Those in charge, who kept saying that the "higher authorities" had not reached a conclusion regarding the case, are now pressuring Ms. Gao's family members to cremate her body and destroy all evidence of torture.

As of today, according to inside sources, it has been verified that more than 2,800 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death. Among them, 55% were women, and approximately 57% were over fifty years old. Under the State Terrorism Policy executed by the Chinese communist regime, the 610 Office systematically persecutes Falun Gong practitioners who persist in their beliefs by carrying out the genocidal policy of "defaming their reputations, bankrupting them financially, and destroying them physically," and following the policy, "Beating to death is nothing and shall be counted as suicide; do not identify the person and cremate the body directly." As a result, many practitioners were injured, crippled, or beaten to death, their families torn apart, and they were forced to become homeless. Millions of practitioners' families, friends, and colleagues have been implicated to various extents and been subjected to brainwashing.

Mr. Liu from Jiaozhou is Missing and Possibly Murdered by the Police in Zhucheng City
Excerpts from a letter sent by a Falun Gong practitioner in China to the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China"

[Editor's note: After the original Chinese article was published, it was reported to Minghui that Mr. Liu is now doing alright at home.]

Greetings to members of the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China" who are coming to China to begin a complete investigation of the persecution of Falun Gong!

I want to provide the "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China" with information about the Police Department and the hospital conspiring to kill a Falun Gong practitioner. I also want the coalition to help look for fellow practitioner Mr. Liu.

The Police Department in Zhucheng Committed Murder

During spring of 2004, I heard news of the police conspiring with the local hospital to kill a Falun Gong practitioner. Through many obstacles, I was able to meet the eyewitness. This is what the eyewitness described.

In May or June 2001, one morning at around 9:00 a.m., the eyewitness was working in the field. There were a series of cars that drove from the city. One belonged to the Police Department, one was an ambulance and the last car was either a "110" security car or a car from the courthouse. They drove towards the southeast of town to Chenjiahuayuan west of the village. They turned west on a narrow dirt road. They stopped at a shallow ditch, where a person lifted a body out of the ambulance and left it lying on the hill. They did not dig a hole but began to scoop dirt from the slope. They were in such a hurry, they only buried half of the body so that the part below the knee was all exposed. The body had on a pair of men's leather shoes.

Many villagers came to watch, and one elderly villager asked the person from the ambulance, "Who are you burying?" The person was cold and detached, "A Falun Gong practitioner!"

They left in a hurry also. Many villagers were very upset. The village administrators went to the Police Department and demanded that they remove the body. They stated that many villagers were very scared and were refusing to go work in the fields. The villagers said that they would return the body to the front door of the Bureau if they did not remove it. Three to five days later, when the eyewitness went back to work in the field, the body had disappeared. He did not know when that had happened.

Mr. Liu from Jiaozhou was Missing

Mr. Liu was from Jiaozhou, Shandong Province. His family of five all practiced Falun Gong. In January 2001, after he went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong and was persecuted to the brink of death. Mr. Liu left home and became homeless. His body became severely deformed by the brutal torture. He was illegally arrested again in May 2001. When the police found out through the Internet that the Police Department had promulgated an order for the arrest of Mr. Liu, the police intensified the torture. He was tortured until he passed out many times the very day he was arrested. Each time he passed out, the police woke him up with cold water and continued the torture. Mr. Liu was carried out that night from the Public Security Grand Hotel on the second floor. There has not been any news of him since.

Mr. Liu was forty-five years old in 2001 and he was about 1.65 meters (5 ft. 5 in.) in height. One young female Falun Gong practitioner who used to study and do the exercises at his house stated that Mr. Liu and his wife had two sons and one daughter. All five of them practiced Falun Gong. When the police first arrested the couple, they were held in different locations. The elder son was in a boarding high school, the younger son was in a boarding middle school and the daughter, who was less than ten years old, was the only one left at home. The police forced their relatives to bring food on a daily basis. Several days later, the relatives were deceived by the Party. They then refused to allow the food because the couple refused to write a guarantee statement. With no choice, the little girl took on the responsibility of begging for food to bring to her parents. In order to make sure that her parents were able to eat, the little girl ran from her grandparents, uncle, aunt, cousin, neighbors and her parents' work unit around the clock. When she went to beg for food, no matter how they blamed her parents, how they cursed at her parents, she kept silent as long as they would give her the food. As time went on, some people not only would not give her food but also told her to stop delivering food to her parents. Some of them even shut the door and refused to let her in. The little girl had no choice but to sit in front of the door and cry. She didn't stop crying until they gave her the food. One month later, the relatives gathered enough money (about 10000 yuan) to pay the couple's bail.

After they came out, they went to Beijing to appeal again. After they were sent back the first time, the couple and their son were held in different places. The little girl had to take on the responsibility of begging and delivering food to her parents and her brother. Their elder son was forced to leave school, and he went to a different city to work in order to make a living. After they were sent back the second time, the police emptied their house and did not even leave one set of bedding for the little girl. The couple was released on the brink of death. After Mr. Liu went to Beijing the last time, the police in Beijing beat him unconscious. The Jiaozhou police sent Mr. Liu, who was dying, back to his family. Due to his firm belief in Falun Gong and Teacher, he escaped death. When he recovered to the point of becoming independent, the police began their harassment again, and Mr. Liu was forced to leave home. His body had become deformed from the persecution. We met in January 2001. He had severe kyphosis (a condition of having one's back severely bent). Both his legs were deformed and his left leg was worse than the right one.

In May 2001, Mr. Liu was arrested in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province. The perpetrators were Zhu Pengde (head of the 610 Office), Cao Jinhui (Political Security deputy director), and Zhu Wei, Yuan Wei, Wang Jun, Lu Jun and Mao Yulong (the hired thugs). Since they could not force any information from Mr. Liu, they went on the Internet. They found that the Police Department had issued an order for the arrest of Mr. Liu, so they intensified the torture. They were inside the Public Security Grand Hotel, a place where all the police eat, drink, gamble and engage in prostitution. The hotel has been exposed many times on the Minghui.net website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) and it has changed names numerous times. It is now called the "Judetiantianjugang Jiujia-Dongsheng Dajiudian, the fifth subhotel." The previous front door on the northeast side is sealed, and there is a gas station outside.

I was arrested the same day as Mr. Liu. Cao Jinhui tortured me, saying, "I know your situation, I do not care if you do not speak. Your so-called Mr. Liu was unconscious many times today already, and each time he was awakened with cold water. He finally gave us your name." I trusted Mr. Liu and disdained this thug's lie. After I woke up from the torture, a 110 female dispatcher (calling 110 is similar to calling 911 in the U.S.) who was guarding me said, "A guy called Mr. Liu lost consciousness many times today. He was carried out. Aunty, I really don't want to see you..." Before she could finish her sentence, Cao Jinhui, Wang Jun, Yuan Wei and Zhu Pengde came back. Zhu ordered the girl to find some clothes for me to wear, and asked the others to bring me food. Since I refused to cooperate, he began showing his true colors and yelled at me, "Do not get carried away. Mr. Liu from Jiaozhou is much tougher than you are. After being close to death several times, he knew what that felt like. He still gave us your name. I will give you ten more minutes. If you still refuse to tell us, then don't blame us for being rough." They brought in a fellow practitioner, Xiao Zhang, who was arrested the same day in an attempt to have him persuade me. As soon as Xiao Zhang saw me covered with blood, he began to cry. The police took him away right away, cursing along the way.

After a while, Xiao Zhang came back. He was much calmer this time. From what he said and his expression, I guess he could not handle the torture. He gave out my name and Mr. Liu. I did not remember whether I was in the Public Security Grand Hotel or not. The 110 female dispatcher told me that when the police arrested me, they sealed my eyes and mouth with tape and dragged me to the second floor. I was tortured for days and had passed out numerous times. The police grabbed my hair and hit my head against the wall, and slapped my face left and right. They had kicked and severely beat the inside of my legs. After they handcuffed my hands and shackled my legs, they used the electric baton to shock my hands and feet, shock the inside of my mouth, and shock my ears, neck and knees. I was tied to an iron chair and not allowed to use the restroom. I was deprived of sleep, and they slapped my face whenever I fell asleep. Wang Jun, the thug I mentioned above who was about age 30 in 2001, said that he did not have the patience to serve me, as his wife was just about to give birth. I did not know whether he was moved from Xiangzhou Town Police Station or Shijiaozi Town Police Station. He used a nail to pierce my ankle and pressed it down forcefully with his shoes. My feet were so swollen that I could not wear shoes even when I was sent to Wangchun Labor Camp on June 11.

My hearing has not recovered as of today. I cannot hear anything if I go to a noisy area. All my teeth are loose, so I can only eat soft food. The inside of my left leg muscle has turned into hardened mass and is still black blue without sensation. When I was released in 2003, there was still a large hardened mass inside my left leg.

At the labor camp, they interrogated me many times. Mao Yulong mentioned Mr. Liu again. He said, "Mr. Liu betrayed you after he was tortured, why are you still covering for him?" They mentioned Mr. Liu so many times. I am really concerned for his life. I never went to Jiaozhou and have not connected with any fellow practitioners there. I want to use the Minghui/Clearwisdom website to look for Mr. Liu.

Xicheng Detention Center in Beijing Secretly Relocated Practitioners in 2001

Around Chinese New Year's Eve in 2001, I went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong. Thousands of practitioners were being arrested every day. They were detained in all the detention centers in the Beijing area. Most of the practitioners did not reveal their names or addresses, and each of them was given a number. The majority of them went on hunger strikes as soon as they were in the detention center. Military physicians came every day to run physical tests, measure blood pressure, and carry out force-feedings. Every few days, there would be a group of very firm and healthy practitioners being secretly relocated. We were told that they were sent to Northwestern area for tree planting and "re-education," and yet, once they were gone, there was no more news about them, dead or alive. Where did they go exactly? None of the practitioners knew. It wasn't until after the recent exposure of China's concentration camps harvesting the organs of live Falun Gong practitioners that I remembered the groups of practitioners who were secretly relocated years ago. If they were sent for tree planting and "re-education," can Chinese officials provide convincing evidence of this?

On New Year's Day in 2001, I was holding banners in Tiananmen Square. A group of police and plainclothes police started beating and kicking me. I struggled and called out "Falun Dafa is good" with all my might, and the policemen used the banner to stuff my mouth so that I could not yell. Then, some other practitioners and I were detained in a police transportation vehicle and were sent to different detention centers.

I was sent to Xicheng Detention Center. Because I would not tell them my name and address, they labeled me as number 88. I did not cooperate with them, so one middle-aged police officer slapped my face hard, and punched and kicked me. They did not treat me like a woman at all. Two vicious policewomen shocked me with two electric batons for a long time, and they repeatedly said, "Shock her eyes." In the end, I could not stand their humiliation and torture any longer, so I threw myself on the wall with great force. I had the human notion of never giving in when I hit the wall, but I later realized that throwing myself on the wall was not in accordance with Falun Gong's principles. I acted that way before only because I could no longer stand the torture. At that time, the policewomen were stunned, and they put a thick rubber hat on me. They also handcuffed my hands and feet, so that they were connected together. The chain between the handcuffs and the shackles was very short, and I could not stand up straight, therefore I had to walk with an arched back.

I was illegally detained in a cell with several other practitioners, and some of them were on a hunger strikes as well. I was very weak due to the hunger strike, and they all felt really sad after seeing me. They took great care of me. Every day, we had group study and experience sharing. We treasured every single day we spent together, because no one knew whether we would be together from one day to the next. Every day, some frail practitioners were released because the police were afraid that they would die in the cell. There were new practitioners being brought in, and they were numbered because they refused to give their names or addresses, being relocated in secret. People were told that those practitioners were sent to Northwestern area for tree planting and re-education. Other practitioners who gave their names and addresses were taken back by police officers from their local police stations. I was in the detention center for nine days, and on the last day, I fainted. That night, some physically frail practitioners and I were put in police cars and dropped off on the side of the road. That counted as being released.

Every time I think about the fellow practitioners whom I spent time with, and how they were dissected by demonic doctors and had their organs taken away, I cannot hold the anger and sadness that I feel in my heart.

Masanjia Forced Labor Camp Deceives Reporters

When I read the article "Comments on the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Response to the Sujiatun Concentration Camp" on Clearwisdom.net, I recalled a fact on how the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp deceived reporters. In March 2001, the camp authorities tensed up. Besides the routine forced labor, some detainees were designated to do sanitation work. All of the tabulations displayed in the corridor to assess Falun Gong practitioners were removed, and the entertainment facilities like volleyball, skipping rope and poker were showcased. An insider disclosed that some reporters would come after the "two conferences."

The night before March 16, selected Falun Gong practitioners were told they would be watching a movie the next morning. At around 7:00 a.m. the next day, rather than being sent to the No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp as usual, we were taken in a van to the Juvenile Reform School. When we stepped into the meeting room, a movie projector and a screen were already in place, but there were no operators available. In the early spring of northeastern China, it is pretty chilly, especially in a room without sunlight. We were shivering because of the cold temperature. Two hours later, the guards were also unable to endure the cold environment, so they led us out to walk in the yard, and the sick detainees were allowed to freely move around in the sunlight inside the high wall.

Then we began to realize that the so-called "watching a movie" was a lie, and was actually a plot to deceive the journalists. The old and weak detainees and the steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were chosen to "watch a movie," and the "transformed" and healthy detainees stayed behind. No one could imaging that almost half of the detainees of the Forced Labor Camp were hidden in the yard behind the high wall of the Juvenile Reform School.

We were not taken back until 5:00 p.m. in the evening. When we got back, we found that the ward was pretty spacious and clean. Our washbasins, everyday personal facilities and work tools were hidden in the storehouse. Originally, four persons shared a bunk bed but now everyone had their own single bed. The name cards on the beds were removed. And it was make to look as if six detainees shared the 20 square-meter ward which was actually designated for 32 detainees. Half of them were hidden in the Juvenile's Reform School, where the most sophisticated satellites could not detect us if the weather was not so cold.

I believe the facts disclosed above are just the tip of the iceberg, fabricated by the CCP regime.

Swindler Cheats Practitioner, Victim Sent to Jail

On April 11, 2006, felon drug addict Wu Bo cheated Chen Junfeng, a Falun Gong practitioner from Kaiyang Phosphorus Mine in Guiyang City, out of more than 4000 yuan. Wu Bo then called police to illegally arrest Chen Junfeng. Chen Junfeng was determined to protest against the persecution, and held a hunger strike. After three days he was released from the clutches of the evil persecutors.

The felon drug addict Wu Bo is from Zunyi, Guizhou Province. He was just released from Middle Eight Labor Camp after completing his sentence. Falun Gong practitioner Chen Junfeng was also illegally detained at that same labor camp for three years. After his release, Wu pretended that he eagerly wanted to learn Falun Gong, and on several occasions he asked Chen for books and truth clarifying materials. At the same time, he cheated Chen by promising to find a job for him in a company operated by his relatives. Wu Bo directed Chen to make a deposit of money to the furnishing team, and thus fraudulently obtained over 4,000 yuan from Chen.

It is well known that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has resulted in tremendous difficulties in their daily lives and financial situations. Wu Bo, having been incarcerated at Middle Eight Labor Camp, knew how the labor camps and jails tortured Falun Gong practitioners. However, this did not stop Wu Bo from swindling money from Chen Junfeng, whose life was already financially difficult. He also arranged for Chen Junfeng, who offered salvation to him, to be again captured by the evil doers.

On April 11, 2006, Wu Bo tricked Chen Junfeng into bringing a Falun Gong book and money to a meeting with him at Guiyang Medical Institute. At that time, Chen Junfeng's mother was seriously ill and stayed at the hospital there. When they met, Wu Bo claimed he would go deposit the money in the bank, and asked Chen Junfeng to stay there to wait for him. After determining that tricking the kind-hearted practitioner worked, Wu Bo immediately called police to arrest Chen Junfeng, and then fled with his money. The policemen participating in the arrest were Xiong Xin (police code 008270) and Chen Xinguo (police code 52002). Chen Junfeng was illegally taken to a detention center, while the police ransacked his home at Kaiyang. While detained, Chen Junfeng was determined to overcome the evil and held a hunger strike. The authorities were forced to release Chen after three days.

Two Practitioners from Hebei and Hubei Provinces Die from Persecution

Ms. Liu Cuizhi, 61, was from Jingzhangzi Village, Tumeizi Town, Qinglong County, Hebei Province. Before beginning Falun Gong practice, she had several illnesses including tuberculosis of the lymph nodes and lung adhesions. Her complexion was dark purple. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, all of her illnesses were cured without medical treatment. After the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party began on July 20, 1999, she was harassed by the local 610 Office and was monitored by her family members, who did not know the truth of Falun Gong. They did not allow her to practice, and her illnesses recurred. She passed away on February 9, 2006.

Ms. Pang Xiurong, 55, was a practitioner from the Science and Technology Group of Chinese Space Navigation, Xiangfan City, Hubei Province. She began Falun Gong practice in 1997. She was healthy both in body and mind after she started to practice. She was an assistant at an exercise site. She was detained for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong after July 20, 1999. Thereafter, officers from the 610 Office monitored her. Her family members, who did not understand about Falun Gong, also put pressure on her. She suffered a great deal both physically and emotionally. She died on May 23, 2005.

During the last six years, practitioners Qiu Anping, Xing Guangjun, Zhu Zongtao, and Pang Xiurong have died from persecution at the Zhongyuan Police Station, in Fancheng District, Xiangfan City. Ms. Li Chunxiao is Being Tortured in the Eighth Ward of Liaoning Province Women's Prison

[Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).]

The real criminals detained in the Eighth Ward of Liaoning Province Women's Prison are directed to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Chunxiao (a teacher employed by Dalian City Twenty-first Middle School in Liaoning Province, arrested in early 2005) was tortured by female prisoners Qin Liying and Zheng Qiu as soon as she entered the Eighth Ward. They tied her hands behind her back, and forced her to sit in a wooden box measuring less than 2 feet high, 3.5 feet long, and 1.5 feet wide (see illustration below). She could not raise her head due to the low height of the box, and her legs had to be bent because the box was short. In order to prevent her from screaming, they taped her mouth shut. Ms. Li Chunxiao was sealed in that box from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. She was shivering when she was let out and could barely walk.

The water room, shower room, activity room, reading room and cell 412 located at the end of the hallway are used to torture Falun Gong practitioners. After the other prisoners washed and went to bed, Ms. Li Chunxiao was forced to go to one of these rooms to be tortured. The torture included being stripped, forced to go bare foot, poked with needles, having several dozen pans of cold water poured onto her during the winter, being stripped and forced to sit with her legs separated, then kicked in her private parts. Sometimes Ms. Li would be tortured until midnight, and sometimes she would be tortured until early morning. Ms. Li Chunxiao has a fist-sized dark ring around both of her eyes, and her face is all covered with purple bruises.

Exposing Yang Xingting, Who Conducts Persecution in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province

[Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui website (the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).]

Yang Xingting, who lives in Hedong District in Jianyang City, Sichuan, has been influenced by Chinese Communist propaganda. He has treated Falun Gong with many acts of hatred. Ever since 1998, Yang has created chaos around practice sites at Hedong District to keep Falun Gong practitioners from practicing their exercises freely. After the persecution officially began on July 20, 1999, Yang started to defame Falun Gong and Teacher Li. He shredded and burned Falun Gong books on many occasions. He also destroyed many truth clarification materials.

Yang traces and reports Falun Gong practitioners' residences to the Dongxi District Police Station. At times, he has even directed the police cars registered with the Jianyang Judicial District to capture Falun Gong practitioners located in Dongxi District. Many Falun Gong practitioners living around Dongxi District were persecuted because of him. Among those persecuted, some were captured repeatedly, and some were fined huge sums of money. Wan Lin Gong, a Falun Gong practitioner, is still illegally detained at a detention center.

    33. [China] Chinese Communist Party is Panic-Stricken by Publication of the Nine Commentaries

While talking with my friends and relatives, I find some people under suspicion are planning an exit for themselves. They plan and discuss where they should go and inform their friends and relatives, such as where they will go after retirement. They don't want experience the same situation of the people of the Soviet Union who couldn't withdraw their money from banks after the Soviet suddenly disintegrated.

The "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" has made the evil Chinese Communist Party panic-stricken. The regime blocks information flow in all the provinces. Lately, they even banned Phoenix TV from Hong Kong. They even assign people to monitor what TV channels people watch. In some provinces, people only have three TV stations to choose from.
