  • Nine Falun Gong Practitioners Missing in Tianjin City and Hebei, Jilin, Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces

    1. Falun Gong Practitioners Zhang Mingliang and Gao Tianfeng have been missing from Beijing for six years.

Mr. Zhang Mingliang was fifty-six years old and was from Tangshan City, Heibei Province; Mr. Gao Tianfeng was thirty years old and was from Henan Province. In 2000, they had a business in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. They rented a house. They went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong on February 20, 2000. They have never been heard from since. The public phone near their rented house once received their family's call inquiring about their whereabouts.

    2. Yuan Boyou, Zhou Fengxian and Yuan Jing, a family of three has been missing for five years

Mr. Yuan Boyou (41-42), Mrs. Zhou Fengxian (40) and Ms. Yuan Jing (18-19) were family members living in Lalatun Village, Zhencai Township, Nong'an County, Jilin Province. They went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong and have been missing for five years. There is only one son (age 20) left at home.

    3. Ms. Huang Liping missing since 2000.

Ms. Huang Liping was born in November 1967. She was a beautician, and lived near Chengbei Police Station in Wumiao Street, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. On February 20, 2000, she and dozens of Falun Gong practitioners were doing the Falun Gong exercises in Jinyan Lake Park in Guanghan City; the local Chengbei Police Station sent out police to arrest them. In order to cover for other fellow practitioners, Ms. Huang Liping ran in the opposite direction. She was able to escape, but was forced to leave home and become homeless to avoid arrest at home. She has not been heard from since.

Ms. Huang Liping is a skilled beautician and had her own business on Wumiao Street. At present, before the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) collapses, they are frantically persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, especially with the exposure of the illegal organ harvesting in secret facilities. The CCP is like a cornered beast, desperately killing and attempting to dispose of the evidence. The family members of Ms. Huang Liping are under agonizing anxiety, desperately seeking any information of her whereabouts.

    Contact phone numbers: 86-838-5232537, 86-838-5225117, 86-28-82524092.

    4. Falun Gong practitioner Liu Fengzhen from Guizhou Province has been missing since 1999.

Mrs. Liu Fengzhen was fifty-five years old and was from Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. She retired from Huaxi Machinery Factory. She went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in 1999 and has been missing ever since. Her family went to the bank to withdraw her retirement funds and the bank told them that there has been no deposit to her account.

    5. Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Tang Shirong from Chongqing has been missing from her home since last year

Mrs. Tang Shirong was sixty-three years old and lived alone in Jingkou Farm, Shapingba District (near Special Steel Factory New district) in Chongqing City. She disappeared from her home around September 3, 2005. Her daughter discovered her missing a week later; her keys and food were still at her home. Her family has been looking all over for her but still cannot find her.

Mrs. Liu Fengzhen's home is in the jurisdiction of Jingkou Police Station in Shapingba District and Tongjiaxi Police Station in Beibei District, the policeman harassed her whenever there were sensitive dates. The police stopped going to her place ever since she disappeared. The local police station has denied they ever arrested her, but fellow practitioners believed that she was most likely arrested. The time when Mrs. Liu went missing was on a so-called "sensitive day"; the Mayor of Chongqing City was hosting a "Mayor's Conference."

    6. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Qingxiang from Tianjin has been missing for five years

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Qingxiang was seventy years old and a retired architectural engineer. He lived in Lianggezhuang Village, Shigezhuang Township, Wuqing District in Tainjin City. Liu Qingxiang began practicing Falun Gong in 1998. His many diseases disappeared and he benefited greatly both physically and mentally.

The police illegally arrested him while he was distributing truth-clarifying materials and clarifying the truth to people at the end of 2000. He was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. At a detention center, Mr. Liu began a hunger strike for over twenty days and became extremely weak. He was released for medical attention.

Liu Qingxiang's family members were worried about him being persecuted again and prohibited him from going out or contacting anyone. Mr. Liu left home in the spring of 2001. There has been no information of his whereabouts for over five years. In 2002, before the so-called "Sixteen Conference," the local police spent a large amount of manpower and money to pursue and capture him. They investigated all of his relatives. Director Ni Jingqing of Shigezhuang Police Station and other policemen interrogated Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sha Litian and shocked him with two electric batons attempting to get information about Mr. Liu. The police continued their efforts until 2004.

Since Mr. Liu left home, none of his relatives have heard any information about him. His daughters went to Beijing several times to look for him in vain. When his ninety-year-old mother passed away, there was still no information about Mr. Liu. Mr. Liu' sister cries whenever there is a holiday: "What happened to Liu Qingxiang? Maybe he is no longer living? We cannot see him when he is alive and we cannot see his body if he dies."

Wang Jiasheng and Liu Yi on Hunger Strikes, in Urgent Situations in Hebei Province Detention Centers

On April 2, six practitioners in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, were illegally arrested. Recently, four of them escaped from the detention center with righteous thoughts. The two others, Wang Jiasheng and Liu Yi, have been illegally detained at the First Detention Center and the Second Detention Center in Cangzhou City respectively, for nearly one month. At present, the two practitioners are on hunger strikes to protest their unlawful detention. Wang Jiasheng's hands are shackled behind his back, and a force-feeding tube is kept in his stomach; it's never taken out. He is very weak, his voice is faint, and his situation is urgent. Liu Yi has a lung infection. After being sent to and examined by the Cangzhou Infectious Disease Hospital, he was taken back to the Second Detention Center in Cangzhou City.

Liu Kanhau, a police officer at Yunhe District Police Department, did not allow Wang Jiasheng's family to visit him. Recently, the police submitted Mr. Wang's case to Yunhe District Procuratorate in Cangzhou City.

In October 2000, Wang Jiasheng was imprisoned for four years in a labor camp for appealing in Beijing on behalf of Falun Gong. This time, Wang Jiansheng's arrest left his over sixty-year-old mother and fourteen-year-old daughter at home. He was the only person in the household with an income.

After Liu Yi's arrest on the night of April 1, Zhang Guofu, the head of the National Security Group, members of  Xinhau District Police Department in Cangzhou City and others raided Liu Yi's home, where he had run a business. They confiscated the following:

Four China Construction Bank passbooks with a total of around 10,000 to11,000 yuan

Three passbooks of the Agricultural Bank of China with a total of about 7,000 to 8,000 yuan

One China Post saving passbook with an amount of around 4,000 to 5,000 yuan

Two China Construction Bank credit cards. One of the cards, with the last three digits "618," has a 5,000-yuan limit

One Industrial and Commercial Bank passbook and one Rural Credit Cooperative's passbook,

    Cash: around 1,500 yuan,

One accounting book and a bag of IOUs.

Zhang Guofu took the above without issuing any receipts.

Liu Yi's Changan sedan was confiscated by police officer Liu Zhenming from the National Security Group, Yanshan County Police Department, Hebei Province. The car may be at  Xinhau District Police Department, Cangzhou City.

Mr. Zhang Hongwei Dying in Jilin Prison

Mr. Zhang Hongwei is a Falun Gong practitioner from Tonghua Cty, Jilin Province. He was illegally arrested in 2001 when he was producing truth clarifying materials in Beijing City. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to 13 years in prison and locked in the Tiebei Prison in Changchun City. He has been beaten many times, and he went on hunger strike for more than 50 days to protest. The prison warden said, "As long as you quit your hunger strike, you may practice Falun Gong however you want." When Mr. Zhang recovered a little bit, he was transferred to Jilin Prison, where he was tortured by being locked in a small cell (1) for two years. During that two years, his family was refused the right to visit him with excuse of his "being in solitary confinement." One time, however, Mr. Zhang was carried out. He moved very slowly and could only stand by leaning against the wall. The guards said that his condition was due to long-term confinement in the small cell. His family found out he had been beaten many times.

Mr. Zhang had been tortured by being handcuffed on the Death Bed for more than 50 days and the Big Hang Up (2). As weak as he was, he was still not allowed family visits. His family sued Jilin Prison Deputy Warden Liu Wei and Education Office Head Tan Fuhua at the Procuratorate. Mr. Zhang Hongwei was finally released from the small cell in the middle of August 2004. His family was not allowed to visit until the end of that month, however, to conceal the severity of the torture.

At the beginning of 2005, Zhang Hongwei was locked in a small cell for another three months, and his health was failing due to this brutal torture. He was sick with tuberculosis at the beginning of 2006, and he has no energy to talk now. When he was checked on March 8, 2006, the doctors found he had third degree TB, pleurisy with pleural fluid, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Mr. Zhang cannot eat because the medicine has ruined his stomach. He thinking is often fuzzy, he is very thin and has difficulty walking, and he has extreme chest pain. His warden has requested that he be let out on medical parole, but the prison administration has not yet approved this request. Mr. Zhang's condition is worsening quickly.

There have been several cases of Falun Gong practitioners that have died of tuberculosis because of delayed treatment in the prison or labor camps. Some of them have died inside the prisons or the camps, and some of them were released when dying because the guards were trying to escape legal responsibilities.

    Notes:

    (1) Small cell: The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff the practitioners' wrists behind their backs in a fixed position so that the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night rats run around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.

    (2) Big Hang-up: There are two forms in this torture: 1) With both wrists handcuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to a metal window frame; 2) One hand of a practitioner is handcuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in opposite directions. The pain is extreme as the body is pulled apart. See illustration on /emh/articles/2004/11/17/54624.html

Mr. Zhao Wenbo Tortured to Disability (Photos)

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Wenbo lives in Pingliang City, Gansu Province. He has been tortured many times because he firmly holds his faith and as a result he was disabled. His wife has divorced him.

Mr. Zhao Wenbo from Pingliang City, Gansu Province, tortured to disability

Mr. Zhao Wenbo is in his 50s and is an employee of the Pingliang Area Transportation Company. He started cultivating Falun Falun Gong in August 1996. He only did the exercises for one day, but his long-term migraine headache was cured. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, his employer and local police pressured him repeatedly, arrested him multiple times, and ransacked his home.

On December 26, 2001, Mr. Zhao went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong but was arrested and detained in the Dongcheng Detention Center in Beijing City for 13 days. He was cruelly tortured, including being beaten on his head, chest, throat and lower back with a police baton and having cold water poured on him after being stripped.

On January 14, 2002, Mr. Zhao was detained in a basement located in the Chaoyang District of Beijing City by policemen from Gansu Province. Two other fellow practitioners and he broke open the door and escaped the illegal detention. In order to avoid being arrested again, Mr. Zhao went back to his hometown in Jingchuan County, Gansu Province, where his younger brother lives. On the way home, he felt extreme discomfort due to the torture he received in Beijing. His condition worsened, and he became paralyzed after two months. His family sent him to the hospital, and the doctor found many injuries, including a leg bone fracture, deformity of the lower spine, a chest injury, brain injury, and other problems. His wife wanted to divorce him since he was disabled. Mr. Zhao did not agree to the divorce, but the neighborhood administration helped his wife divorce him with only one excuse, that he practices Falun Falun Gong.

Zhao Wenbo's employer only pays him 70 yuan per month. Mr. Zhao has never given up the practice despite his difficulties, and he is doing the three things well.

    CCP's Prison is Hell

Like tens of thousands of Falun Falun Gong practitioners, I was illegally arrested and unlawfully sentenced to forced labor in 2003 for telling people about the beauty of Falun Gong and the facts of the persecution. I had exposed the hoax of the "Tiananmen Square Self-immolation" directed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), as well as all the defamatory propaganda and lies on TV.

I was detained with another practitioner in a detention center for more than a year. During that time, a practitioner from Beijing and I clarified the truth to the police and other inmates in the prison. About a dozen practitioners were jailed in my prison cell.

One of the practitioners was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, and she later died from the persecution. I never knew her name. Once we arrived at the prison, police from the 610 Office forced us to wear prisoners' uniforms. We four practitioners were each assigned to a different prison cell, where there were three inmates to "monitor" each of us. I was in prison because I believe in Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance. However, my monitors were in prison for corruption, robbery, and drugs. This world is upside-down this way. Besides the inmate monitors, there were also electronic surveillance devices in each cell. When I was first put into that prison, I was asked to fill out some forms, which I refused to do. My inmate monitors immediately reported this to the prison guards. The guards punished me by forcing me to squat for a long time, which made my feet numb. In the prison, the guards would not let me speak and ordered me to raise my hand before I was allowed to speak to them. After their approval, I had to bend down and tell the guards, "I am an inmate, and I want to talk to you about something." But those inmate monitors did not need to bend down when they talked. I did not follow their rules, which made the guards punish me by forcing me to stand facing a wall, which I rejected. Then they stopped giving me food. Instead, they told me to say in front of a microphone: "I am a criminal. Please give me food." I decided to hold a hunger strike. Some inmate monitors reported this to the guards. Since they could do nothing about me, they gave up.

The guards forced us to watch those trashy "conversion" videos every day, after which we had to do "homework." Also, day after day we were forced to recite the prison's "58 rules," "38 rules," and "new three-word poems," for which we were selectively inspected for recitation. In addition to reciting and reading, each day we needed to do a lot of homework. Sometimes the head of the prison sent people for selective examinations. In this way, they tried to prevent us from silently reading Teacher's writings and reciting the Fa.

An inmate monitor secretly told me that I was lucky to be transferred to the new Renhe Prison with my group of practitioners, where the conditions were better. Practitioners sent to Shaoguan Prison were put into solitary confinement as soon as they arrived. The monitor also told me that a practitioner named Ms. Zhu Xiaohong had arrived earlier and was also detained in the third prison sector. Ms. Zhu Xiaohong refused to cooperate with the authorities and continued to do the exercises. The warden of the third prison sector, He Weizhen, ordered several inmates to push her down on the ground and then made dozens of inmates trample on her back. Another practitioner, Ms. Zhu Luoxin, firmly held on to Falun Gong and refused to be "transformed". In order to destroy her will, police put her into solitary confinement for two years and eight months. It was a dark cell without sunlight. When she came out, she was unable to walk.

The CCP's prisons have no positive educational affect at all on those true criminals. Instead, the guards order the criminals to use any twisted means conceivable to monitor and even brutally beat Falun Gong practitioners, which makes the criminals even worse. The tactics used by the CCP against practitioners include forced labor, electric baton shocks, and solitary confinement, all of which have no effect at all on unwavering practitioners. The guards, who are even more caustic toward practitioners, can never be trusted. In the prison, each inmate is forced to finish her production assignment each month. If she finishes her assignment for a year, she will get 12 so-called "rewards" and earn a reduction of her prison term. Some practitioners have never received such "rewards" even though they have finished their assignments. When they asked the 610 Office about this, they were told that Falun Gong practitioners did not have permission from the provincial prison, thus they were not counted for such "rewards." In contrast, those inmates that monitored Falun Gong practitioners got such "rewards" even if they failed to finish their work assignments. This was because they were the guards' accomplices.

There are even more ridiculous things. In the summer of 2004, the head of the prison required all inmates to learn mute dancing, and the 610 Office checked Falun Gong practitioners for that. Also, all inmates were required to learn a qigong called "Ba Duan Jin," which also had exams. Because of her refusal to be "transformed", Ms. Zhang Qinghao was monitored around the clock. The guards encouraged the inmates, who forced her to stand for 24 hours without sleep until she was unconscious. Ms. Xie Xiuqin was a practitioner from a district in Shantou. She was arrested after being reported for clarifying the truth. In the prison, she refused to be "reformed." Two inmate monitors dragged this woman with two disabled legs to work. She also suffered physical abuse and verbal assaults.

The above are things that I experienced, saw, and heard in prison.
