  • Persecution in Zhejiang Province: Mrs. Chen Jianhua Tortured to Death - Ningbo City Police Propose a 300,000 Yuan Settlement in Exchange for the Chen Family's Silence

Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Chen Jianhua worked at the Ningbo City Telecommunication Bureau in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. The police illegally arrested her on May 20, 2005, when she was distributing truth clarification materials. Mrs. Chen was savagely tortured in detention. On August 20, the police told her family to claim her body. The authorities proposed to pay her family, represented by her husband, 300,000 yuan in exchange for their silence regarding Chen Jianhua's death.

Around August 20, 2005, agents from the Zhejiang Province 610 Office held a 45-day brainwashing class at the Xishange Hotel in the Yinzhou District, Ningbo City. They arrested local Falun Gong practitioners and sent them to brainwashing sessions, and threatened that the practitioners would be sent to forced labor camps if they refused to "reform." Falun Gong practitioner Chen Zhongsheng from Leqing City was surrounded by more than twenty police officers headed by Qu Jifu, director of the 610 Office, and deputy secretary of Ningbo City Political and Judiciary Committee, and also by Chen Jingsheng, head of  Ningbo City National Security Group. They tried to force him to attend the brainwashing class held by the 610 Office. Chen Zhongsheng resisted the persecution, but he was compelled to stay away from home to avoid arrest.

Personnel from the Political and Security Section of  Ningbo City Police Department lied to the practitioners' families, telling them, "Your loved ones will be released quickly if you just sign a paper agreeing to send him to a mental hospital. You don't even need to pay for the medical expenses, and he will be able to keep his job." Many practitioners' families were initially deceived. As a result, many practitioners were sent to mental hospitals where they were forced to ingest unknown drugs and were severely traumatized.

Falun Gong Practitioners Mr. Pan Zhaowen, Mr. Li Qiang, Ms. Bi He and Ms. Wang Yin Are Being Brutally Force-fed in Detention

It has been 15 days since Mr. Pan Zhaowen, Mr. Li Qiang, Ms. Bi He and Ms. Wang Yin went on a hunger strike on December 13, 2005, to protest their illegal detention and persecution. The Security Department in Jilin City is force-feeding them and subjecting them to brainwashing by turns. A doctor recently injected Mr. Pan Zhaowen with unknown drugs.

Presently, Mr. Pan Zhaowen and Mr. Li Qiang are imprisoned in a building next to the Changchun Guesthouse. Ms. Bi He and Ms. Wang Yin are being force-fed at different places in Jilin. The main persecution unit is the Security Department. All information related to these four practitioners has been blocked both internally and externally to achieve the goal of persecution and "transformation."

There are many persecution cases indicating that the force-feeding of Falun Gong practitioners in forced labor camps takes place not out of humanity, but rather is intended as one of the most brutal methods of torturing those who hold hunger strikes. It was widely used by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in forced labor camps and hospitals all over China. With this method, a thick and dirty tube, without lubrication, is inserted repeatedly into a practitioner, first through one nostril many times, then taken out and inserted into the other nostril. During this process, the tube is intentionally pulled out and pushed back down to intensify the torture. These actions cause the hunger striker to experience nausea, a choking sensation, violent coughing, and also excruciating pain. A variation of the forced-feeding procedure is to pry open the mouth of a victim to insert the tube. Often, the victim's front teeth will be broken and the throat severely damaged. Food can easily be introduced into the trachea and lungs during force-feeding. Highly concentrated salt solution, mixed with corn porridge, hot chili pepper solution, and dried milk powder is generally used to force-feed. Many practitioners have died during this procedure. Some died from asphyxiation caused by the feeding tube. Mr. Fu Chunsheng, 52, was an employee of a water factory in Jilin City. He was illegally arrested by police on December 28, 2005, and few days later he died from force-feeding at the detention center.

Mr. Xuan Huaiji from Zhangjiakou City is Being Tortured in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp

At about 1:00 a.m. on October 10, 2005, eight police officers from Congli County Police Department of Zhangjiakou City broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xuan Huaijie's home at Yimatu Township, in Congli County. Zhang Guisuo, chief of the National Security Division and Song Chunbin, head of the Yimatu Township Police Sub-Station in Congli County, forced their way through the gate of the courtyard, smashed the door of Mr. Xuan's home, dragged him out of the bed, and did not allow him to get dressed.

The police blindfolded and handcuffed Mr. Xuan. The handcuffs were tightened so tight that they cut into Mr. Xuan's wrists, and instantly the blood gushed out and dripped down his hands. Mr. Xuan shouted at the top of his lungs, "Falun Dafa is good!" The police left hastily. When Mr. Xuan's wife came out of the house they were already gone.

At about 2:00 a.m., the police brought Mr. Xuan to a hotel in Zhangjiakou City, and later sent him directly to Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City. Mr. Xuan shouted "Falun Dafa is good!" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" all the way to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. The police knew the warden, Liu Ning, at the No. 3 Division of the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, thus Mr. Xuan was taken in without going through any procedures or documentation.

Scars on Mr. Xuan Huaiji's face

The guards locked Mr. Xuan alone in the No. 3 Division of the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. During the first three days, Mr. Xuan clarified the truth to the staff of the forced labor camp. On the third night, he began to practice the exercises. Four guards rushed in and pushed him to the ground and beat him. They kicked, punched, and slapped him on his face. His face was swollen and bruised. The guards asked Mr. Xuan while beating him, "Do you still want to practice Falun Gong?" Mr. Xuan answered firmly, "Yes, I do!" More beatings followed, however each time after the beating he would answer "Yes" in a firmer voice. Finally the guards had to send him back to his cell. Mr. Xuan then began to practice the exercises and the guards did not take any action. Mr. Xuan refused to perform any labor in the forced labor camp. He stayed in the cell for five days, and clarified the truth to the inmates. On the ninth day, Mr. Xuan went on a hunger strike. After three days of hunger strike, the guards dragged him to the hospital for force-feeding. They did not allow Mr. Xuan to dress properly, and he was bare-footed and only wore pants with a big hole at the knees. Mr. Xuan refused to get in the car to go to the hospital. The guards dragged him into the car, held him to the floor and then took turns beating him. His teeth became loose and his cheeks were swollen. As a result, he could neither sit nor stand.

In the hospital, Mr. Xuan refused to cooperate when the feeding tube was being inserted. Three guards and an inmate pushed Mr. Xuan onto the ground and held his body, head and limbs. The weight of the four adults made Mr. Xuan see stars and caused his tears to run non-stop. For a very long period of time he could not see things clearly. The guards used special pliers to force open his mouth, and his front teeth became loose. Then they inserted one tube down his throat and another down his nose. This caused Mr. Xuan extreme pain and he also faced the danger of suffocation at any moment. He was fed with a mixture of a bit of milk powder and a large amount of salt. They force-fed him three times a day. Each time when he was taken back from the hospital after this procedure the guards purposely drove fast on the rough road to increase Mr. Xuan's misery. Xian was emaciated from the hunger strike, and he was not allowed to wear warm clothes. The rough ride in the car made him very miserable, but the guards took pleasure in it.

When coming back to the forced labor camp, the guards dragged him out of the car. The inmates pulled him by his clothes to the cell, while the guards kicked him from behind. Slowly, his shirt and pants were all torn. On the forty-first day of his hunger strike, he was beyond recognition and unable to talk. Mr. Xuan lost consciousness, and was as pale as a corpse. To avoid their responsibility, the guards released him on bail for medical treatment. They also wrote a guarantee statement and forcibly took Mr. Xuan's fingerprints and put them on the statement before they asked his family to pick him up. When his son came, the guards created many obstacles to make it impossible for him to meet his father. The guards used this trick to extort money from the family. They used three bags of milk powder and salt for force-feeding, for which they charged the family a thousand yuan. Mr. Xuan's son had to get a certificate of bail release from the local government and the local police sub-station.

On December 6, 2005, when Mr. Xuan Huaiji was on the verge of death, the guards from Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp again asked his son to pick him up. This time, his son got a certificate from the local government, but the police sub-station refused his request. Nearly 80 villagers signed a petition requesting the Yimatu Township to issue a certificate to release Mr. Xuan Huaiji immediately. When the guards at the forced labor camp learned that Mr. Xuan was really dying, they agreed to release him without even asking for a certificate. Upon returning home, Mr. Xuan's entire body was so swollen that he could not sit or move around.

Before this incident, in 2001, Mr. Xuan Huaiji was given three years of forced labor for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Song Yanqun Tied to and Stretched on "Death Bed" in Changchun City Women's Prison

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Yanqun, illegally held in the Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City, was tied to and stretched on a death bed by prison guards when the prison tried to "transform" her through evil brutal methods this May. As a consequence, Ms. Song now suffers from cerebral numbness, loss of sensation in the left leg, right arm, both sides of the ribs, and is also experiencing unbearable pain. She also suffers from lung tuberculosis that is progressively worsening, and her body weight has reduced to only about seventy pounds.

Ms. Song Yanqun, 34, lived in Shulan City in Jilin Province and worked as an English teacher in Da'de Japanese School of Harbin City. On November 27, 2003, Ms. Song was illegally arrested by a group of police officers headed by Guo Wei (male) from the Police Department of Shulan City. During the interrogation, the director of the Police Department in Shulan City, Xin He (male), colluded with police officers Li Zhuo (male), Li Yaochen (male), Li Jiazhe (male) and Wang Tingbai (male) to hire a gang of thugs to apply brutal torture methods on Ms. Song Yanqun and her sister Ms. Song Bing, in the Nanshan Detention Center of Shulan City. The torture methods they used included the tiger bench, using long and thin sharp objects to pierce the ears, eyes and other organs, and force-feeding mustard oil, etc. Later, they illegally sentenced Ms. Song Yanqun to twelve years of imprisonment and held her in the Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City.

In the prison, Ms. Song Yanqun's health condition worsened. Upon medical examination, she was diagnosed with severe lung tuberculosis. The prison hospital and the prison have strictly blocked this fact and never allowed her family to know of her true illness. Furthermore, they forbade treatments according to the law, but only allowed the prison hospital to carelessly deal with it. The director of the prison hospital claimed that each prisoner was only allowed an eight yuan medical expense per month.

In May 2005, the Women's Prison of Changchun City started a new round of forced "transformation" towards Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally detained. Ms. Song Yanqun was taken out from the hospital to the Education Section, where she was surrounded and violently forced to be "transformed." Because Ms. Song Yanqun refused to cooperate, the prison guards tied her onto the "death bed," like "five horses splitting a body" (1), using the ropes to tie tightly onto the four limbs and then stretch all four limbs out with force. No one paid any attention to her needs to use the restroom.

There have been related articles on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website regarding how such brutal torture methods were applied to Falun Gong practitioners in the Women's Prison of Changchun City causing severe consequences. Most of the female practitioners experienced irregularity of menstruation period, heart diseases, and some had their foot ligaments torn apart, while some had their arms, foot and leg nerves injured or experienced necrosis, and thus weren't able to walk normally. Most of those practitioners tortured with these methods had symptoms afterwards.

Ms. Song Yanqun had already been diagnosed with lung tuberculosis before she was tortured for another two years in the prison. Her true situation had never been released to her family members by the prison. After Ms. Song Yanqun was tied to a "death bed" and tortured by the stretching method, she has since experienced unbearable pain in both of her lungs, every internal organ and both sides of her ribs. Her heart is also failing, and the symptoms of lung tuberculosis are worsening rapidly. Her entire left leg has lost sensation, thus she is no longer able to walk normally, but can only move slowly. Her entire right arm suffers from unbearable pain, with hands violently trembling. Her brain feels numb and she has trouble thinking clearly. Her body weight has reduced to only about seventy pounds.

When Ms. Song Yanqun's elderly parents went to visit her, they asked with aching hearts about their daughter's health condition. The prison guard who was watching immediately yelled at and threatened Ms. Song Yanqun.

International lung tuberculosis has been listed as one of the top infectious diseases that require special preventative measures. The Heizuizi Women's Prison in Jilin Province on the other hand has been keeping a lung tuberculosis patient in the prison and even subjected her to brutal torture methods for as long as two years. We call on international righteous organizations to condemn and stop the Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City from torturing Ms. Song Yanqun.

The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Pukou District, Nanjing City

Before July 20, 1999 there were about 800 people practicing Falun Gong in the Pukou District of Nanjing. After the persecution started, many practitioners refused to give up their beliefs and were detained many times. Their homes were ransacked, and they were continuously harassed. Ms. Zhao Wenying was mentally traumatized. In attempting to escape, Ms. Yu Shuxia jumped from a building and was disabled. Ms. Dong Qiaorong was followed for an extended period, and was later paralyzed due to torture. Many practitioners' family members and work units were also unfairly implicated.

These are some cases of persecution in the Pukou District (including former Jiangpu County and former Pukou District) by people from the local 610 Office and the police.

In January 2000, practitioner Ms Zhou Lifang, Ms. Liang Dongmei, Mr. Dou Wenxiang, Ms. Zhao Wenying, Mr. Wu Zhiming, Ms. Xu Renlan, Ms. Yu Shumei, Ms. Kong Lingzhen, and Ms. Zhu Dongmei went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. They were illegally arrested and escorted to a detention center close to where they live. After one month, the police transferred them to a hotel owned by the police department (Ganlanyuan Hotel) and detained them for twenty more days.

In February 2000, Ms. Wu Chunru, Ms. Chen Xiangxiu, Ms. Ling Jun, Ms. Ji Lianzhen, Ms. Cao Wenjing, and Ms. Dai Shujin went to appeal in Beijing. After they were arrested, the district police department detained them in a hotel and coerced their family members to force them to write a "guarantee statement." Practitioners were also forced to pay large sums of money for their illegal detention in the hotel.

Around July 20, 2000, some police officers (following their superior's orders) arrested practitioner Ms. Liang Dongmei, Ms. Kong Lingzhen, Ms. Chen Xiangxiu, Ms. Wu Chunru and Ms. Zhu Dongmei, and detained them in a hotel in order to "prevent them from going to appeal." At the same time, every work unit in the district tried to extort 5,000 yuan from each practitioner who had previously appealed. When some practitioners refused to pay, the money was deducted from their paychecks.

In August 2000, Ms. Zhao Wenying was arrested on her way to Beijing (to appeal). Because she had appealed many times before, the police sent her to a forced labor camp. She was severely tortured and consequently had a mental collapse. In the same month, Ms. Yu Xixiang, Ms. Xu Renlan, and Ms. Liang Dongmei were detained for a month for doing Falun Gong exercises at Pukou Martyr's Monument.

In late September 2000, police officers from the district Political and Judiciary Committee and the police department ransacked all the homes of practitioners who had appealed before. They confiscated Falun Gong books, exercise music tapes, and Teacher's new articles. The perpetrators also tried to arrest Ms. Wu Chunru but were stopped by Ms. Wu's family members.

In early October 2000, in order to prevent their homes from being ransacked, practitioners Wu Chunru, Ms. Liang Dongmei, and Ms. Xu Renlan went to the Zhujiang Police Station to reason with the police. They were arrested and held at the detention center for a month.

In early October 2000, Ms. Zhou Lifang, Mr. Wu Zhiming, and Ms. Yu Shuxia went to appeal. The police stopped them on a train to Beijing. They were sent back and were held at the detention center for a month. After that, Ms. Zhou Lifang was detained in a hotel. Several days later, Ms. Yu Shuxia was arrested. Ms. Xu Renlan and Ms. Wu Chunru were also detained in the hotel for some time.

In mid-November 2000, Ms. Xu Renlan, Ms. Wu Chunru, Ms. Zhou Lifang, and Ms. Yu Shuxia escaped from the hotel and went to appeal in Beijing. They were arrested and sent back. Ms. Xu Renlan was sent to a forced labor camp, and the three other practitioners were detained in a hotel.

In November 2000, Ms. Li Guangxia and Ms. Chen Xiangxiu went to appeal in Beijing. They were arrested, detained for a month, and then sentenced to a forced labor camp.

In November 2000, Ms. Yu Xixiang, Ms. Zhu Cuiying, Ms. Dai Shujin, Mr. Tan Xinfeng, and Ms. Geng Yingchao went to Beijing to appeal, and were arrested. Two of them were held at the local detention center, and the other three were detained in a hotel.

In December 2000, Ms. Zhu Dongmei, Ms. Yu Shumei, Ms. Lu Jiaru, Ms. Ling Jun, Ms. Liang Dongmei, Ms. Huang Baoying, Ms. Ling Yun, Ms. Fu Ying, Ms. Geng Yingchao, and Huang went to appeal in Beijing. After they were arrested and sent back, they were all detained in the police-owned hotel.

In late December 2000, the police transferred Ms. Liang Dongmei, Ms. Ling Jun, and Ms. Yu Shumei from the hotel to a detention center. Later, Ms. Liang Dongmei was sent to a forced labor camp. Ms. Ling Jun and Ms. Yu Shumei were taken back to the hotel, and detained for another two months.

In mid-January 2001, the police department sent seven practitioners who persisted in practicing the exercises to forced labor camps. The practitioner's names are: Ms. Yu Xixiang, Ms. Ji Lianzhen, Ms. Dai Shujin, Ms. Yu Shuxia, Ms. Liang Dongmei, Ms. Chen Xiangxiu and Ms. Geng Yingchao.

In March 2001, Ms. Li Guangxia was sentenced to a forced labor term.

In March 2001, the police department sent five mentally normal practitioners (who refused to give up their practice) to a mental hospital. The practitioners sent were: Mr. Wu Zhiming, Mr. Dou Wenxiang, Ms. Wu Chunru, Ms. Kong Lingzhen and Ms. Zhu Dongmei. Three of them were detained in the mental hospital for about two years. Expenses for the hospitalization were deducted from their salaries.

In July 2002, Mr. Zheng Kai from Yongning Town was arrested by the local police for practicing the exercises outdoors. He was detained for a month, and then sentenced to one year of forced labor.

In August 2002, the Pukou District 610 Office held a brainwashing session in Zhujiang Town. Over ten practitioners (who had been transformed in the session) declared what they said and did under the influence of the "brainwashing" to be null and void. The practitioners included Ms. Yu Xixiang, Ms. Yu Shuxia, Ms. Cao Wenjing, Ms. Ge Hongmei and Ms. Zhou Guofang. They were detained in a hotel and brainwashed for nearly three months. By the end of November 2002, when the brainwashing session ended, Ms. Ge Hongmei and her daughter were sentenced to forced labor terms. Ms. Yu Shuxia, Ms. Cao Wenjing, and Ms. Zhou Guofang were transferred to the local detention center and were held for another three months.

Around October 2002, Mr. Dou Wenxiang was sentenced to a forced labor camp, for visiting Falun Gong websites.

In April 2003, Ms. Yu Shuxia was held for one month at the local detention center, for declaring her previous guarantee statement as void.

In mid-February 2004, over twenty people from the district 610 Office, police department, local police station(s), and work units such as the Sanitation Bureau and Chinese Medicine Hospital went to Ms. Yu Shuxia's home. They tried to take her to a brainwashing session. Ms. Yu firmly resisted and was forced to jump from her second floor apartment to escape. She sustained multiple injuries from the jump. After she returned home from the hospital, members of the city and district 610 Office harassed her at home many times, and ordered her to write a guarantee statement. Ms. Yu refused. In the same month, Dou Wenxiang was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center in Nanjing.

From November 2004 to January 2005, Ms. Geng Yingchao, Ms. Dai Shujin, and Ms. Ling Jun were arrested and held at the local detention center or brainwashing center for nearly two months. The persecutors also ransacked their homes. The work units of two practitioners had to submit 10,000 yuan each to the brainwashing center as "expenses."

During a sports game in Nanjing City in 2005, the Jiangsu Province Police Department ordered all the counties and cities to strictly control practitioners. Ms. Wu Chunru, Ms. Dai Shujin, and Ms. Ling Jun were arrested for mailing truth-clarifying materials. They were held at the local detention center for a month. The persecutors also ransacked their homes.

Since 1999, work units in the district that have participated in the persecution include the city and district 610 Offices, the district police department, Zhujiang Police Station, the district Political and Judiciary Committee, the Industry Bureau, Business Trade Bureau, Sanitation Bureau, Bureau of Education, Tax Bureau, File Bureau, Land Bureau, Construction Bureau, and some work units under the control of the above authorities.

People who participated in the persecution and relevant personnel include Wu Zhengqiang, Bi Chunxiao, Ping Yuanwu, Lu Xueping, Wang Wengao, Li Youfa, Gao Hongmin, Wang Xiaomin, Xiao Ningjian, Mu Zhiping, Xu Keli, Liu Binbin, Wang Qiaozhuan, Wang Lin, Fu Jiabao, Li Jinhua, Zhou Linhua, Jiang Aimei, Wang Zhilin, Li Junwei, Zhou Fei, Hu Jing, Chen Yufang, Yang Liu, Chen Libao, Wang Banglun and Kong Huisheng.

More Information on the Recent Illegal Arrests of Nineteen Falun Gong Practitioners in Junan County

On the evening of November 26, 2005, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., the South Junan County Police Station and the Junan County 610 Office in Linyi City, Shandong Province, dispatched twenty policemen and over ten police vehicles to Huangzhuang Village, Shizilu Town, Junan County, to arrest nineteen Falun Gong practitioners who were together exchanging practice experiences at the time. Two of the practitioners have been released. Most of the Falun Gong practitioners are still illegally detained in the Junan County Detention Center. Sun Maoqin, Zhao Xiaowei and several other practitioners are illegally detained and being persecuted in the Linyi City 610 Office's brainwashing class, and they have been on hunger strikes to protest the persecution for about two weeks.

At around 1:00 a.m., after Falun Gong practitioner Li Shihua from Dongliangdian Village was arrested, his house was illegally searched, and his Falun Gong books, exercise audiotapes, recorder and truth-clarification materials were taken away. The house of Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Peimei, from the same village was also searched and he/she was arrested. Falun Gong practitioner Han Guangmei from Nanshiqiao Village also had his home searched, but apparently the perpetrators could not find what they were looking for in Han Guangmei's house. The current situation of the other Falun Gong practitioners is still under investigation.

Other Falun Gong practitioners who were known to be arrested include: Liu Xi'er from Huajua Bailongwang Village, Han Xihua and Hou Shiying from Hujia Bailongwang Village, Wu Weilan from Mengjia Huangzhuang Village, Yang Jihua from Danan Huangzhuang Village, Meng Fanxiang and Zhang Yaqin from Xujia Huangzhuang Village and He Shicun from Lianwangya Village.

Ever since May 2005, authorities at the judicial and public security departments, as well as the 610 Office in Junan County, have repeatedly and wantonly persecuted the local Falun Gong practitioners, causing heavy losses and great pain to the Falun Gong practitioners and their family members. On May 11, the Junan County 610 Office in concert with the police illegally broke into and ransacked the homes of five Falun Gong practitioners, including Chen Xinxia, Xiao Mingxia, Sun Li, Yan Xia and Zhao Erhua, all from Tugou Village, Shizilu Town, Junan County. Chen Xinxia and Xiao Mingxia were arrested and sent to a labor camp in Jinan City, Shandong Province on June 1, but due to the deterioration of their physical health from previous tortures, the camp's physical exam required for entry found them to be unfit to stay at the camp. Despite the test results, the Junan County officers bribed the labor camp to detain Xiao Mingxia. Chen Xinxia was released because she was found to have hepatitis B from the persecution.

On July 6, Falun Gong practitioner Sun Li was taken away from her home by the 610 Office and was quickly sentenced to forced labor. On the evening of August 12, the Junan County 610 Office and the Police from Dadian Town, Yanbin Town, East Town and West Town arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ji Xingshu and Ji Xingcai (age about 60), Peng Xiuzhan (age about 50), Li Baoshan, 43, and other two practitioners. After that, Falun Gong practitioner Cui Jian'ai from Duojuguanzhuang Village was also arrested. At that time, her husband, Falun Gong practitioner Wang Houling, 41, had been illegally detained in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for over two years. After Cui Jian'ai was arrested, her 10-year-old daughter was left at home alone, with no one to care for her.

Falun Gong practitioner Li Baoshan from Shigou Village, Dadian Town, was illegally detained in the Junan County Detention Center. His 82-year-old father and 7-year-old daughter were left at home. Li Baoshan's wife Qian Jinhua was forced to leave home for over two years because of the persecution. Falun Gong practitioner Sun Chongzhen from the same village has been illegally detained in the Jinan Women's Labor Camp for two years. It is said that she is still enduring cruel torture there. Sun has a 10-year-old son at home and her mother-in-law didn't get to see her before she passed away.

Police Officers from Changsha City Arrest Several Falun Gong Practitioners

On the evening of December 20, 2005, more than ten plainclothes policemen from Changsha City, Hunan Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xiong Jinze who was working at a building site. Many people witnessed them beat Mr. Xiong to the ground and cover his head with a black sack. Mr. Xiong shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" It is known that Mr. Xiong's wife, who was about to give birth, was also arrested.

The police searched Mr. Xiong's car and found Falun Gong truth-clarifying CDs and other materials. They confiscated several tens of thousand yuan that he carried. They then immediately searched his home. They also confiscated the truth-clarifying materials and the equipment for making them. That same night, they arrested three other practitioners who were connected to the truth materials production site, including sisters surnamed Gao and a practitioner surnamed Liu from Ningxiang. Additionally, during the night they besieged Ms. Jiang Lanying at home and arrested her the next day.

Mr. Xiong Jinze is 33 years old. In October 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong and to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. As a result, he was locked up in a forced labor camp for three years. The authorities from the Xinkaipu Men's Forced Labor Camp in Changsha locked Mr. Xiong in a confinement cell that was two meters long and about one meter wide for seven days, from March 13-20, 2002. He slept, ate, and rested in that space. They forcibly strapped him, had him wear a heavy headpiece and tied his arms across his chest so that he felt constricted and felt as if he was suffocating. With the headpiece on, Mr. Xiong could only breathe with his mouth open. He felt heavy headed and very weak. Two inmates monitored him around the clock. From time to time, they tormented and insulted him. Seven days later, Mr. Xiong's condition worsened and he had to be carried out of the cell. The police officers said that no one had ever lived for even three days under such torture.

Mr. Xiong is now locked up in the Changsha City Detention Center.

It is said that agents from the Changsha Police Department arrested Ms. Xiao Dunmin, an employee of the Chaoyue Embellishing Company, on November 22, 2005. That night, more than ten police officers ransacked her home and the company. Three days later, Ms. Xiao was released. However, two practitioners who had contact with Ms. Xiao were suddenly monitored, tailed and finally arrested.

Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Shandong, Hebei, Hunan, and Jiangsu Provinces Die as a Result of the Persecution

Ms. Yu Caihua, 58, was a villager in Zhangjiananzhi Village, Gaomixiazhuang Town, Weifang City, Shandong Province. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, many miracles happened to her. Her several illnesses imperceptibly disappeared. Since July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, the party members in the town prohibited her from practicing and often harassed her. Her husband was frightened by the party's ever-changing political movements and also stopped her from practicing. He beat her until his hands hurt. He didn't even allow Ms. Yu to use the light when she read Falun Gong books. Ms. Yu was forced to rent [other] land to farm. She lived in the farm cabin and continued to practice. The authorities still harassed her on that land. The farmers recall that they repeatedly saw several persons arresting Ms. Yu while she was working the land. They dragged her to a car and drove away immediately. Since Ms. Yu suffered for so long from the terror and persecution, in 2001 her health deteriorated, and she died soon thereafter.

Mr. Zheng Zuzhen, 61, was an employee of the Lixin Mine in Kailuan, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, he suffered from several illnesses. He couldn't live or walk normally. Since he began the practice in October 1995, all his ailments disappeared. Between July 20, 1999, when the CCP started to brutally persecute Falun Gong, and March 2000, the Tangshan Police Department, the Linxin Police Station in Guzhi, the Kailuan Police Department and the Linxin Mine Police Station arrested and detained Mr. Zheng four times for refusing to renounce Falun Gong practice. These policemen continued to harass him and monitor him. They disrupted his normal life and caused his illnesses to recurred. Mr. Zheng died on November 25, 2005.

Ms. Liu Xiangtian, 43, was a resident of Yuelai Village, Yongxing County, Hunan Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she suffered severe heart and lung disease. Through practicing, she recovered without any treatment. She was then able to do housework. Her change had a very good effect on the spreading of Falun Gong among her neighbors and villagers. In late 2000, on her way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, the authorities from Chenzhou City and Yongxing County intercepted Ms. Liu. She was then locked up in the Yongxing County Detention Center for three months. The Yongxing 610 Office forcibly sent her to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp to persecute her. Not too long after that, Ms. Liu's old illnesses recurred and she was released to go home. Nonetheless, she was still closely monitored and constantly harassed. The CCP continued to persecute her and strongly pressured her family members to cooperate in the persecution; she lost her practice environment and died in July 2004.

Ms. Gao Yun, 84, lived in the Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Ms. Gao started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. On November 25, 2004, police officers from the National Security Group in the Wuzhong District of Suzhou City ransacked her home. She helplessly watched the police officers arrest her only daughter. This traumatized her tremendously. Her health rapidly deteriorated and she died on December 20, 2005. Since she was still being detained, her daughter had no chance to see her mother at her final moment.

Practitioner Mrs. Fu Guiying Dies From Persecution After Her 18-year-old Daughter Passes Away

Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Fu Guiying and her family in Huolin Guole City, Inner Mongolia, persisted in practicing Falun Gong and were often persecuted. She and her husband, Zhang Jianlong, were arrested and held at a labor camp. The Party Committee secretary at their young daughter Zhang Yichao's school forced her to write a weekly statement to cut off her relationship with her parents. She was ousted from school and had to work to provide for herself. She passed away on April 6, 2005. Due to long-term persecution by the evil Party, her mother, Ms. Fu Guiying, died on December 17, 2005.

Ms. Fu Guiying was 47 years old and had started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. She became free of illnesses and gradually gained a deeper understanding of Falun Gong. Her daughter, Zhang Yichao, started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. She was outgoing and vivacious and adored by her parents, relatives and friends.

In July 1999, Jiang Zemin's villainous group started persecuting Falun Gong. Ms. Fu went to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Gong in September 1999. She was illegally sentenced to forced labor in December 1999. At that time, the local schools launched a campaign to force students to sign a document attacking Falun Gong. Zhang Yichao refused to sign the document. Meng Xianmin, the No. 4 Middle School Party Committee secretary in Huolin Guole City, persons from the the Huolin Guole City 610 Office, and the police department threatened to expel her from school and tried to coerce her many times to write a guarantee statement. In June 2000, Zhang Yichao's father, Zhang Jianlong, was arrested, and Zhang Yichao grew quiet.

On September 17, 2001, several practitioners held at Huolin Guole Detention Center were sentenced to forced labor. The police secretly took them to the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp at 3:00 a.m. without notifying the practitioners' families, and forbade the practitioners from bringing even a change of clothes. Ms. Fu and Mr. Zhang were dragged into and locked in the same police car. Their 14-year-old daughter, Zhang Yichao, was left at home alone. Fu Guiying said, "I have to see my daughter." Qin Baoku and Di Tuo from the National Security Division and the 610 Office said, "Who cares whether your daughter is dead or alive?"

On March 1, 2002, officials at Zhang Yichao's school refused to allow her to continue attending classes because of her parents practicing Falun Gong. After her parents' company intervened, the school agreed to keep her, but Meng Xianmin, the school Party secretary, talked to her every week and forced her to write a weekly statement to "break away" from Falun Gong and her parents.

In May 2002, Zhang Yichao was at home alone when a dozen agents, including Qin Baoku, Zhao Xiufa, Di Tuo and Wu Liji from the Huolin Guole City 610 Office and from the Nanguangchang Police Station, ransacked her home, looking for incriminating evidence against her parents. They broke the stove and the couch and turned the whole place upside down, including the vegetable bin. On the evening of March 29, a group of kids who were brainwashed by Communist Party propaganda and therefore hated Falun Gong pounded on her door and broke many windows. She was extremely frightened.

By September 2002, Ms. Fu's weight had dropped from 165 to about 70 lbs. She was released on medical parole. Her daughter, Zhang Yichao, became even more frightened of the evildoing people. She left home at the age of 15 and worked in Shenyang City and Dalian City. She contracted tuberculosis and lost consciousness several times. She passed away on April 6, 2005, in a hospital, at the age of 18.

Due to long-term harassment and persecution from the Chinese Communist Party and its accomplices, Ms. Fu Guiying passed away at 6:00 a.m. on December 17, 2005.
