  • A Fatherless Teenage Boy' Story - Part I

Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin and his mother Feng Xiaomei were classmates who in 1987 had both graduated from the Department of Telecommunications Changchun Post and Telecommunications Institute. They were later assigned to work in the Telephone Equipment Factory of Hebei Province and lived happily before the persecution. The day after Wang Boru's tenth birthday, the early morning of July 20, 1999, Wang Boru was thrown into a world of turmoil.

    Abstract

In the past six years, Wang Hongbin's house was ransacked five times and he and his family were arrested six times. His family was broken apart, he was forced into exile and he eventually died from persecution.

Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin (deceased)

Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin was arrested, beaten, tortured, sentenced to forced labor terms and finally died from the results of persecution on October 9, 2003.

    Baby Wang Tianxing

Wang Boru's aunt Feng Xiaomin (deceased)

Wang Boru's aunt Feng Xiaomin was forced to live in exile after twice being arrested. She lived a homeless and very difficult life. She didn't ask her family to help take care of her newborn baby Wang Tianxing, fearing persecution. On June 1, 2004 she passed away after being diagnosed with encephalitis. Feng Xiaomin's husband Wang Xiaofeng lives in exile and still cannot unite with his infant son. Wang Tianxing is currently living with Feng Xiaomei, Wang Boru's mother.

Wang Boru's uncle Wang Xiaofeng, forced into homelessness

Wang Boru is currently attending middle school. His mother Feng Xiaomei is working to raise Wang Boru and Wang Tianxing. To help her take care of the two children, Wang Boru's grandparents moved from their hometown in northeast China to Feng Xiaomei's home.

The police and Party Committee members went to Feng Xiaomei's home on politically sensitive days to harass them. Wang Boru's grandfather grew sick from the long-term pressure. He fell ill and passed away on March 1, 2005.

Since October 2003, within 18 months, three of Wang Boru's family members passed away from the results of the persecution.

Happy family before July 20, 1999

Wang Boru's mother Feng Xiaomei, the oldest daughter, was born in a village in northeast China. She respected her parents and helped her siblings. She was an outstanding student through grade school, middle school and college. After graduation she was sent to work at the Hebei Province Telephone Equipment Factory. She worked hard and was on good terms with her colleagues. Her superiors trusted her, and she was promoted to deputy chief engineer. Her parents and friends were very proud of her.

Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin was a modest and unpretentious man. He never had any conflicts with people at his place of employment during the more than ten years he spent there. He worked hard and his workplace and the Provincial Post and Telecommunication Bureau selected him many times as "outstanding employee." His successes were recorded in "The Annals of the Hebei Telephone Equipment Factory."

Wang Hongbin used to be ill due to grief from his mother's passing and from a heavy workload, and was a chronic drug user. He could not eat normally after a period of time. This was during the peak of qigong's popularity; the workers' union at his place of employment organized qigong sessions for the employees. Wang Hongbin went to those sessions.

In March 1994, Wang Hongbin obtained an introductory Falun Gong pamphlet that listed a class organized by the Hebei Province Qigong Association. Wang Hongbin started to practice because the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance attracted him and the exercises had wonderful healing effects. He quickly recovered his full health. He never asked his work unit for reimbursement of any medical expenses before he was illegally sent to forced labor; the factory doctor can prove this fact. His mental health also improved, and he became a more productive person.

The changes in Wang Hongbin helped Feng Xiaomei to start practicing Falun Gong. They were very healthy. Their son Wang Boru was smart and cute, and they lived a happy life. In the morning Wang Hongbin would do the exercises at a park, and he would have a clear mind for the whole day. In the evening, after the house chores were done, Wang Hongbin and his wife would read Falun Gong books. They would compare their conduct with Falun Gong's requirements, and their life was meaningful and vibrant. During holidays, Wang Hongbin and his wife would take young Wang Boru and go on outings, along with Wang Boru's aunt and uncle. They visited places in Hebei Province and near Beijing. In the summer of 1999 they had planned to take Wang Boru to go to the beach, but it was never realized. Wang Boru has never seen the ocean.

    Black 1999

Wang Boru's birthday is on July 19. On July 19, 1999, Wang Boru's father bought a birthday cake and his mother cooked several dishes; his aunt and uncle brought peaches and a watermelon. They lit candles and sang songs, and they also took pictures. They spent a happy night together. However, when he woke up the next morning, Wang Boru saw that everything had changed. His home was a mess, his parents were taken away by more than 20 strangers, and ten-year-old Wang Boru sat on his bed staring at the leftover birthday cake and watermelon.

Wang Boru was left uncared for and he was forced to walk the streets. He didn't know how to take care of himself. He developed scabies and pus seeped out of his legs. He was often covered in dirt and mud. People who saw him shed tears.

At the same time, his father Wang Hongbin was secretly held at a detention room at Shigang Street Police Department for over 50 days. He was locked in the same room as inmates and had to relieve himself in a bucket in a hot, filthy and dilapidated room. Drunken inmates often screamed in the middle of the night and the guards "took care" of inmates at 2:00 a.m. Wang Hongbin could not sleep until 3:00 a.m., and during the day a special cases group constantly interrogated him. They eventually released him after extorting 200 Yuan from him and falsely accusing him of "disrupting the social order." Chinese people are used to illegal arrest and detention, and they usually feel lucky to be released after a short detention. They rarely appeal such detention, but Wang Hongbin didn't know further persecution was to come.

Wang Boru's mother Feng Xiaomei was held at a solitary confinement cell at the Zhaolinpu Police Department for four days and three nights. She wasn't given any personal toilet articles such as shampoo, soap or toothpaste, and was not allowed to contact the outside. The cell, walled off on all four sides, was very hot and sticky. On the fourth day, the head of her work unit went to many people in power before bailing her out, but she was transferred to a hotel and was monitored and interrogated by a special case group who tried collect "criminal evidence" from her.

    Suffering parents

In late September, over 50 days of illegal detention ended and Wang Boru's parents returned home. They became very careful when dealing with friends, relatives and colleagues. They didn't open the door when someone knocked on it, as they didn't want other people to be affected by the persecution. Yet, perpetrators from the police department, the Party Office and Street Party Committee often phoned them to "express concern" for them. Once, police went to their home, trying to arrest them. They were not allowed to leave Shijiazhuang City during holidays, and as a result they could not go to their hometown or take their son on outings. They often heard about the arrest of other Falun Gong practitioners, and an atmosphere of terror engulfed the city.

In late June 2000, during the politically sensitive days, Wang Hongbin and Feng Xiaomei's work units received great pressure from the government and police, and they ordered Wang Hongbin and his wife to report to the factory Security Division on a daily basis and talk to their superiors. Faced with endless harassment and persecution, Wang Hongbin and his wife decided to go to Beijing to appeal. When they saw plainclothes police arresting and beating Falun Gong practitioners and other people in front of the Appeals Office and in Tiananmen Square, they knew that their voices would not reach the government, so they went back. Their work units were afraid of taking blame for their appeals trip to Beijing, so they suspended the couple from their offices and forced them to write repentance statements to promise that they would no longer practice Falun Gong. They were given a meager 300 Yuan a month. Because they could not live off 300 Yuan, Wang Boru's parents were forced to quit their jobs.

Around 11:00 p.m. on July 19, 2000, the political head from the Dongdajie Police Department ransacked Wang Boru's home and arrested Feng Xiaomei, accusing her of "disrupting the social order." She asked, "How can I disrupt anything by staying home?" The police answered, "This is the standard charge for anyone who practices Falun Gong." Wang Boru followed his father to bring food to his mother at the police department every day. Once, Feng Xiaomei was released after nine days of protest and was sentenced to "living under monitoring" administered by the Street Party Committee. She had to report to the Street Party Committee even when she goes out to buy vegetables. She was not allowed to leave the city, or the police would put her on the wanted list and arrest her. The government made a rule that more than three Falun Gong practitioners getting together is considered an "illegal gathering" and the practitioners would be arrested. Since Wang Hongbin and his wife are both Falun Gong practitioners, visiting Feng Xiaomei's sister Feng Xiaomin or a friend who also practices Falun Gong would be considered an illegal gathering and they would face arrest.

In September 2000, Wang Boru's father Wang Hongbin went on an errand by train and was arrested on the train when reading Falun Gong books. He was transferred to several different police departments and was held for four or five days. Feng Xiaomei was anxious because she didn't know her husband's whereabouts. Later, a group of police officers went to ransack their home. Wang Boru was 11 years old at the time.

During the five-day holiday on October 1, 2000, perpetrators from the Dongdajie Police Department, the Criminal Police Division and from the Street Party Committee went to Wang Boru's home to ransack it and arrest Wang Boru's parents. Wang Hongbin and Feng Xiaomei firmly resisted the persecution and the police could not take them away. They could no longer stay at home; they took young Wang Boru and lived in exile until the holiday ended.

On December 5, 2000 a dozen plainclothes police officers arrested Wang Hongbin from home and ransacked it. Wang Boru's grandmother was frightened and fell ill. She became bedridden and her heart raced whenever someone knocked on the door. Feng Xiaomei escaped.

    Fear of losing mother

Feng Xiaomei went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was savagely beaten by the police in Beijing, such that half of her body turned black; she vomited blood and had blood in her stools for over 20 days; her whole body was swollen and her face became deformed; her eyes were reduced to slits, she couldn't fit her feet into her shoes and she could not walk. During the time she was held at a police department in Beijing, police officers didn't allow her to use the restroom for 48 hours. Later they transferred her to the Chongwen District Detention Center in Beijing, where the guards force-fed her with nerve-damaging drugs. She was sent back to Shijiazhuang City and was held at the Luancheng Detention Center for one day. With her friends' efforts in appealing for her, the guards released Feng Xiaomei when she was at the brink of death.

After she recovered, Feng Xiaomei appealed for her husband. With a guilty conscience, the perpetrators tried everything to stop her. They fabricated charges against her and tried to frame her, made threatening phone calls and also tried to arrest her son Wang Boru. She took her son and lived in exile; they could not return home. She also had to work to provide for her son. Wang Boru memorized the phone number of his relatives in the countryside, so he could go to them if his mother was arrested. At night, a slight noise would wake Wang Boru, who couldn't fall asleep unless he held to his mother's arm. He is afraid of losing his mother after losing his father. He is determined to follow her if the police took her away.

70-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Tortured to the Brink of Death in Hebei Province

Mr. Shi Zhimin is 70 years old and started cultivating Falun Gong in 1995. After that his severe heart disease was miraculously cured. When the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Mr.Shi went to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, giving his own personal testimonials. He was arrested more than ten times by the police and government agents, had his home ransacked, and was put in detention and sentenced to forced labor. In December of 2004, he went back to his hometown of Mengzhou City, Henan Province to distribute truth-clarifying materials. There he was arrested by the local police and detained in the Mengzhou City Detention Center. Mr. Shi went on a hunger strike to protest this treatment and was then put in handcuffs round the clock. Once he was restrained on the Dead Man's Bed (1) for three entire days. He lost so much weight that he looked emaciated and was unable to move on his own. He often would faint, could not talk and developed an enormous boil near his tailbone.

Mr. Shi Zhimin said, "They found a large, hard lump inside my stomach, and both my feet were badly swollen. They thought I could not live longer than a week, so they removed the force-feeding tube."

The Mengzhou City in Henan Province is located south of Taihang Mountain, north of the Yellow River, and at the center of the triangle formed by Zhengzhou City, Loyang City, and Jiaozuo City.

Since 1999 when Jiang and his regime began persecuting Falun Gong, Mengzhou City, a small, rural city that once promised "For the People, Build a Sunny Government," has actively pursued the persecution of Falun Gong. Before the Chinese New Year of 2000 (February 5, 2000), Mengzhou City government officials drove three bound Falun Gong practitioners around the city in an open truck to humiliate them and intimidate other practitioners. The City CCP Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Li Jianzhong (male) led an action group called "Criticizing Falun Gong," which called for large meetings to be held in every township. The goal was to get all Falun Gong practitioners to write three statements, disassociating themselves from Falun Gong. Those practitioners who refused would be arrested. At the time Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Geng Juying was 32 years old and lived in Chengbo Township, Mengzhou City. In October 1999, she was pregnant. The police detained her in the Mengzhou City Detention Center. The prison guards forced her to have an abortion and then sentenced her to three years at forced labor, which she served in the Henan Province Women's Labor Camp in Shibalihe, Zhengzhou City. There are still dozens of Falun Gong practitioners locked in labor camps or prisons in Henan Province.

Currently, Mr. Shi Zhimin is recovering with determination. He said that, as a seventy-year-old man, he has been arrested, detained, sent to forced labor camps and to prison for having faith in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance and for wanting to be a good person. He plans to file lawsuits in the International Courts and with World Human Rights Organizations for the inhuman treatment he has suffered and for the violation of his human rights at the hands of Chinese government agents. Mr. Shi calls on all kind-hearted people of the world to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and to return justice to Falun Gong and practitioners.

    (1) The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of a cold metal bed frame. The practitioner cannot move at all. He is not allowed to get up to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. This treatment would last from several hours to more than a dozen days. As one can imagine, his type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner's mind and body. See the illustration of this form of torture at

Ms. Qin Qingfang, 63, Dies from Persecution at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Qin Qingfang, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Fushun City, Liaoning Province, died at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on July 9, 2005, after being illegally detained and persecuted for many years. She is one of many Falun Gong practitioners who have died while being persecuted at this notorious institution.

Ms. Qin Qingfang, 63, lived at Yigong Community, Jiangjun Street, Shuncheng District, Fushun City of Liaoning Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1998. Before she started practicing Falun Gong, she had various illnesses. After she began practicing, however, all of her illnesses vanished without treatment. Both her body and mind were purified.

Since July 20, 1999, Qin Qingfang had gone to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong's good name, and was arrested and detained every time. In December 2000, Ms. Qi was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

In December 2000, Ms. Qi was arrested for being persistent in her practice of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Her husband witnessed her arrest and was so frightened that he suffered a stroke, losing the ability to speak and also becoming paralyzed. With no one else to look after Ms. Qi's aging father and her eight-year-old grandson, the authorities still sentenced Ms. Qi to three years of forced labor.

Hearing the news of his daughter's arrest and sentencing to forced labor, Ms. Qi's already blind father could not take the shock, and passed away over the Chinese New Year of 2003. Ms. Qi's paralyzed husband contracted vasculitis, and his right leg had to be amputated. This once happy family was thus devastated by the persecution. Ms. Qi's husband was sixty-three years old. He lost his job and had no income. The sixty-year-old Qi Qingfang was also unemployed. The community forbade them from applying for even the lowest degree of social welfare, so the family lived under great hardship.

Ms. Qi suffered brutal persecution while detained at the Fushun City Forced Labor Camp, including torture methods such as handcuffing, dousing with cold water, electric shock, sleep deprivation and beatings by multiple culprits in an isolated room. After enduring such inhumane torture and severe persecution, she was released on the Chinese New Year in 2004.

After she returned home, these lawless people did not stop persecuting her. Her phone was tapped, and she was followed and closely monitored day and night.

In July 2004, just a few months after she was released, personnel from the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the Shuncheng District and Jiangjun neighborhood arrested Ms. Qi once again and sent her to a brainwashing center. She firmly refused to cooperate at the brainwashing class, and was thus sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in September 2004 for three years of forced labor. On July 9, 2005, she died as a result of persecution at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The details of her death are not yet known, but the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp returned Qi's ashes to her family in a box. We hope that overseas practitioners can help clarify the facts to her family.

The Story of Ms. Xu Qingyan, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province

Ms. Xu Qingyan is a 47-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. Before practicing Falun Gong, she had many diseases including cancer of the thyroid, which normally requires immediate surgery. As her family was poor, she could not afford the operation, so her tumor began to grow every day. She was also constantly in pain due to other illnesses. It was a tragedy that such a young woman should lose her mobility. She was only 30 years old, and she often cried secretly, not wanting to worry her mother further. Ms. Xu's suffering made her impatient and resentful, thus she often vented her anger onto her mother. Her mother loved her dearly, so she was always very tolerant of her daughter. As Ms. Xu's illnesses began to get worse, so did her relationship with her mother. Her elder sister decided to take her mother away.

On December 12, 1997, Ms. Xu Qingyan began practicing Falun Gong, and before long, all her diseases were gone. That was the very first time in her life that she experienced the feeling of being illness-free. It was a feeling hard to describe. From then on, she quickly read Zhuan Falun and began to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

Knowing that she had been disrespectful towards her mother, Ms. Xu was extremely remorseful. Without any hesitation, she went to her older sister's house and kneeled down to beg her mother for forgiveness. Her mother was so touched by her action that she cried immediately. Her sister was startled and said, "It has only been a month and it has produced such a great change in you. Falun Dafa is indeed miraculous!" Since then, Ms. Xu was respectful to her mother and caring to the people around her. From practicing Falun Gong, she regained a strong and healthy body, which allowed her to work in the fields again. She even volunteered to look after her elder sister's orchard. Her family thus became harmonious and happy.

Xu Qingyan's good life, however, did not last long. On July 21, 1999, about a year after she started practicing Falun Gong, other practitioners told her that Falun Gong had become an "illegal organization" and was outlawed in China. Ms. Xu was totally shocked and refused to believe that it was true. Immediately, she traveled to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. When she arrived at Tiananmen Square, she was unlawfully arrested immediately by the armed police after she told them that she was a Falun Gong practitioner. She was taken to an unknown location where there were many other arrested practitioners from other areas. The police ordered the Falun Gong practitioners to gather in a big room and each of them would be asked for their name and address. The police even forced them to give their thumbprints. Seeing this, Ms. Xu firmly refused to have her thumbprints taken and tried to reason with the police. Without listening to her, a burly police officer grabbed her by her hair and banged her head against a stone pillar. She was then dragged into a car and sent to Beijing Sports Stadium. Ms. Xu was sent to the city detention center that night by the Beijing police. A month later, she was transferred to Heishan County Detention Center and was held there for more than a month. It was only after Ms. Xu went on a hunger strike for five days in protest that she was finally released.

After seeing how Falun Gong was being slandered and how people in China were being deceived by the anti-Falun Gong propaganda, Ms. Xu Qingyan decided to bravely clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the public. In October 1999, the police from Daxue Police Station of Taihe District illegally barged into her house and forcibly took her to the detention center. Then, they transferred her to the Jinzhou City Drug Rehabilitation Center. In the center, Ms. Xu saw many other detained practitioners.

A few days later, the police from the City Police Station took Ms. Xu to an illegal court hearing, but she refused to answer any questions. About 10 p.m. that night, she was sent back to the Drug Rehabilitation Center. All the next morning, the police continued to question her in court and consequently, she was sent to the city's No.1 Detention Center. Ms. Xu then went on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful persecution. After seeing this, a group of seven to eight men pinned her down and pinched her nose, and tried to pour fluids into her mouth. This was of no avail as nothing went in. After this, Ms. Xu was handcuffed by prison guard Jin Liwen and for half a day, she was denied use of the toilet. About five months later, without going through any proper legal procedures, Ms. Xu was sentenced to three years in prison. She was then transferred to Shenyang Dabei Prison.

When she first arrived at Dabei Prison, the prison director handed her a book containing the prison rules and guidelines and ordered Xu Qingyan to memorize it. Ms. Xu clearly knew that she had done nothing wrong and was not a criminal, so she threw the book away. The prison director then angrily slapped her in the face and tied her to a bed. After that, she was locked in a restroom. During the several years that she was in the prison, Ms. Xu did not forget to treat others compassionately and she did not bear any grudges towards anyone. She was repeatedly force-fed while she was on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. When Ms. Xu was first force-fed in the prison, about eight police officers pinned her onto her bed and Director Wang personally ordered the criminal inmates to force-feed her. They forced her mouth open and inserted a tube as wide as a finger down her throat. After a while, Ms. Xu began to vomit blood. They could not do the force feeding through her mouth, and decided to do it through her nose instead. Such brutal force feeding was extremely painful and Ms. Xu often cried out during the process, but the cruel Director Wang continued without any hesitation. One day, Ms. Xu Qingyan was tortured until her kidneys began to deteriorate. She felt a sharp pain in her chest and also had shortness of breath. Despite all this, she was still forced to do manual labor every day. Every day after work, she was so tired and exhausted that she could only lie on her bed. One of the inmates told her, "Yan, you are such a good person. If you die here, we will be very upset."

When Ms. Xu nearly finished serving her sentence, Director Wu snarled, "Since you're so persistent [in practicing Falun Gong], I will not release you!" In these three and a half years, Ms. Xu Qingyan had faced the persecution without any hatred or resentment, and she was always calm and peaceful. Her compassion and forbearance deeply influenced many people in the prison and they respected her greatly. Even the police officers and guards were full of respect for her whenever they mentioned Master Li in front of her. Before she was released, the prison director ordered her to write her "understanding," and she wrote some poems describing how a Falun Gong practitioner displayed an unwavering belief in Falun Gong.

In May 2003, Xu Qingyan was finally released from the prison, and she stayed at the home of her second sister. Ms. Xu continued to practice Falun Gong, and clarify the truth about Falun Gong to many people in her village. Soon, she recovered from her injuries and illnesses and became healthy again. About 8:30 p.m. on February 4, 2004, Ms. Xu was arrested when she was at home chatting with another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Wang Yulan. A group of police from the Daxue Police Station of Taihe District, led by Zhang Wenxin, barged into her house. They illegally ransacked her house and one police officer found Master Li's photo. Ms. Xu tried to stop them from taking the photo away, but she was slapped in the face instead. The blows were so harsh that she suffered from temporary hearing loss. These police officers then sent both Ms. Xu and Ms. Wang to the city's No.1 Detention Center. On February 28, Ms. Xu Qingyan and Ms. Wang Yulan were sentenced to one year and three years of forced labor respectively. Both of them were sent to Masanjia Labor Camp.

When she first arrived in Masanjia Labor Camp, Ms. Xu was approached by several criminal inmates and collaborators. They tried all means to "transform" her. They tied her onto a bed and deprived her of sleep for many days. Whenever Ms. Xu tried to advise them not to do bad deeds, they covered her mouth with a handkerchief, pried her mouth open with a ladle and stuffed it with garlic. Her teeth thus became loose and the garlic made her eyes water. They did that to her for forty days, but Ms. Xu refused to give in. One morning in May, when they found out that she was still not "transformed," Zhang Xiurong, the director, and Yang Xiaofeng, the deputy director, brought four to five people with them and taped her mouth. Then they handcuffed her on the bed. After they left, Ms, Xu felt tightness in her chest, shortness of breath, and she broke out in a cold sweat. Subsequently, her faced turned white and she lost consciousness, with her left leg kneeling on the floor and her hands cuffed to the bed. Her handcuffs were not removed until 8 p.m. that night, and she was then allowed to go to the toilet and have her dinner.

For a whole week, Ms. Xu was tortured this way. One day, she was sent to Shenyang Mental Hospital for further persecution. On the way to the hospital, Ms. Xu constantly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" but Director Li tried to stop her by hitting her head with a drink bottle. When she arrived at the hospital, Ms. Xu tried to clarify the truth to the people there, telling them that the "Tiananmen Square self-immolation" incident was staged. In the patient's room, she also dashed to the window and clarified the truth to the people outside. The doctor tried to give her injections but her struggling made it impossible to do so. Thus, they decided to send her back to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. In the labor camp, Ms. Xu was severely slapped and lost her hearing (even today, she still suffers from partial hearing loss). She was again handcuffed to the bed and her mouth was taped. Director Yang Xiaofeng said, "This time your medical fee is 200 yuan." Ms. Xu Qingyan knew that they tried to use this as an excuse to extort money from her, despite the fact that no treatment was done.

The next morning, Ms. Xu was locked in a restroom on the fourth floor. On the fourth floor, there were also nine other rooms with double beds (four of these were locked and unused and anyone who went in would have breathing difficulty from the lack of air circulation). Initially, Ms. Xu was locked in a restroom in one of the five rooms that were frequently used. Two minutes after she was there, she was dragged to the room that was unused and handcuffed to a tall stool. As she was having her menstrual period at that time, blood flowed all the way onto the floor. Ms. Xu was also having breathing difficulties. The abuse was agonizing.

Finally, the perpetrators dragged her out from the unused room into the restroom of the regular room, and handcuffed her again to a tall stool. About ten days later, Ms. Xu was forced onto a tiger bench. Then, twenty days later, she was finally released from the restroom. Knowing that her physical condition had deteriorated rapidly from the torture and remembering how she regained her health before, Xu Qingyan decided to continue practicing the Falun Gong exercises. On September 1, she was handcuffed to a shelf in a storage room because she was caught practicing the exercises. She was forced to stand there for nine consecutive days, and her lower legs became swollen and developed boils. This torture also made her right leg lame. One midnight, Ms. Xu suddenly leaned forward and the noises from her handcuffs woke up the inmates. One of the inmates saw her agony and empathetically told her, "Yan, your actions have moved heaven and earth." At this time, Ms. Xu noticed that there was a thunderstorm. Nine days later, she was finally released back to the prison cell.

On December 1, the prison authorities made the practitioners attend a class that forced them to slander Falun Gong. In order to avoid being brainwashed in the class, Ms. Xu Qingyan tried repeatedly to escape from the class. As a result, she was often called to the prison directors' offices (directors Zhang Xiurong and Zhang Zhouhui) for beatings. She endured the pain and suffering and tried many times to clarify the truth to them. She said, "Who doesn't have parents, brothers and sisters? Just because you have such a special job doesn't mean that you should miss such a historic opportunity. When the new era comes, ask yourself deep inside if you all can face your families and neighbors?" At this time, both Zhang Xiurong and Zhang Zhouhui were tired from beating Ms. Xu and decided to lock her in the restroom again. In the winter, the unheated restroom was like a freezer. Again, she was locked inside for nine days. When she was finally released, Ms. Xu was so cold that she had difficulty moving. A month later, she needed support from others to walk. All her bones were aching, she could on longer lie down, and she was often awakened by pain in the middle of the night.

In January 2005, the Fifth Division of the Second Team was formed and it was named the "Strictly Monitored Team." Ms. Xu and thirty other Falun Gong practitioners were sent to this team. They were not allowed to wash their clothes or take showers, and they were served the worst food. The cells were also unheated. Everyone decided to go on a hunger strike to protest this persecution. Every practitioner shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" in unison and subsequently, more than ten prison officials came, trying to separate the practitioners by locking them into different cells. The practitioners formed a human wall and thus preventing any one of them from being taking away. One day in February, Ms. Xu Qingyan and another practitioner managed to open the window in their room and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" towards the canteen. She was locked in the restroom again for doing that. A few days later, Ms. Xu suffered from both a mental collapse and heart problems. She lay on the floor in extreme agony. This time, Ms. Xu was locked up for ten days before being released. After returning to the "Strictly Monitored Team," all the practitioners were still on a hunger strike and constantly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" Soon, they even refused to wear the prison uniforms.

On April 17, 2005, Ms. Qui Li was dragged from her cell for force-feeding and Ms. Xu Qingyan repeatedly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" Upon hearing this, head chief Li Yuming grabbed Ms. Xu's hair and said, "Force-feed her! What are you shouting?" Ms. Xu replied, "My Master said that one practitioner's business is everyone's business." At this time, every practitioner shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" in unison but Ms. Xu Qingyan was pulled out of her cell and sent into a room. Xie, the principal director, closed the door and gave Ms. Xu a severe beating, which loosened her teeth and impaired her hearing. When Xie became tired from beating Ms. Xu, he handcuffed her to a heater. She could barely breathe and soon lost consciousness. Her body slid down the heater and her handcuffs became tight. This was extremely painful and her perspiration seeped through her clothes. After a while, Ms. Xu regained consciousness and tried to stand up, but everything became dark and she lost consciousness again. The second time when she regained consciousness, she saw Director Li Yuming come into the room to get her statement. Ms. Xu tried to clarify the truth to her and refused to sign any document. The frustrated Li beat her again before taping her mouth and ears. When Ms. Xu asked to go to the toilet, Liu Jing, the officer in charge, refused. At 10 p.m. that night they released her back to the "Strictly Monitored Team." Due to the brutal abuse, Ms. Xu's abdomen became bloated with fluid and her lungs and heart were seriously damaged. Even after other practitioners told the police that Ms. Xu was ill, the police completely ignored them.

On April 20, 2005, Ms. Xu Qingyan was taken to the hospital for a medical examination. They found five large tumors, two 12 cm wide and three 5-6 cm wide. She was diagnosed with terminal uterine cancer, as well as myocardium anaemia. On April 24, 2005, Ms. Xu began to develop symptoms including shortness of breath, protruding tongue and the inability to move her head. When she arrived at the hospital, the doctor said that she had to have an operation immediately, so the police decided to call up her family members, informing them that Ms. Xu was very ill. They lied, "Xu Qingyan had uterine cancer for nine years." Ms. Xu's family members replied, "If she contracted it nine years ago, why didn't the forced labor camp manage to diagnose it?" The police insisted that her family members should come and pick her up, but they refused. On that very day, Ms. Xu was sent back to the forced labor camp.

On the early morning of April 26, 2005, Director Zhang told some practitioners to help Ms. Xu put on some clothes, and she was sent back home in a car. While they were in the car, the police told Ms. Xu, "When we arrive at your house, you have to ask your family members to allow you to stay home. We can no longer keep you." When the car arrived at Liushui Village, Ms. Xu's elder brother, sister, nephew and niece came out to check her condition. To their astonishment, they could no longer recognize her. They asked the police, "Only after you have tortured her to such a state will you send her back?! In her current state, she can no longer live. Why do you bring her back? Take her back to your camp! We refuse to keep her at home!" At this point, tears flowed down Ms. Xu Qingyan's face as testimony to the brutal persecution she had suffered. Zhang Wenxin, a police officer from Daxue Village Police Station, tried to console them. After much discussion amongst Ms. Xu's family members, they decided to keep Ms. Xu despite her current condition. This was how Ms. Xu Qingyan escaped from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp after being tortured for more than a year. The camp was indeed a living hell.

An average farm woman experienced the worst type of persecution in history carried out by the Chinese Communist Party. At the same time, she demonstrated an indomitable spirit and will that were as strong as diamond. That should remind people that there is no way to change a person's heart by force. No persecution in the history of mankind can ever shatter a person's true faith

After seeing how many ordinary citizens were being persecuted for believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," can we act as if nothing has happened? Do Falun Gong practitioners have to suffer such inhumane persecution just because they refuse to give up their beliefs? Every voice is powerful. When all the voices combine together, it will frighten the evil. After escaping death, Ms. Xu Qingyan is currently trying her best to study the Fa and practise the exercises. Even her swollen abdomen is beginning to recover slowly. We all hope that she will be healthy and safe soon.

Another Luxun Arts Institution Student Arrested Not Long After Gao Rongrong's Death

Head of the Communist Party at Luxun Arts Institution Mr. Liu Xiaohua, along with other personnel, recently arrested and detained Ms. Wang Wanning, a female postgraduate student of Building Decoration Studies. It is suspected that Ms. Wang has been sentenced to education through forced labor. Liu was responsible for persecuting and murdering Falun Gong practitioner and Luxun Arts Institution student Gao Rongong.

Sources say officials secretly arranged special agents to monitor every Falun Gong practitioner at Luxun Arts Institution. These people could be classmates, teachers, or other personnel around practitioners. Wang Wanning was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong to her classmates and distributing truth-clarifying VCD's when one of her classmates Liu Cheng reported her to Liu Xiaohua, the current Communist Party general secretary at Luxun Arts Institution. Liu then colluded with the 610 Office, the public security bureau, and the cultural relics protection bureau to arrest Wang.

Gao Rongrong was murdered not long ago, but the authorities at the Luxun Arts Institution have already committed new crimes. During the period when Gao Rongrong's face was disfigured from torture to the time of her murder, Liu had avoided Gao's family. He did not show any concern over Gao's death.

In June 2003, Gao Rongrong was arrested for handing out Falun Gong materials to postgraduate students by former Communist Party Secretary Zhang Chen, current institution chancellor Wei Ershen, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Wang Hong, Propaganda Minister (also the director of the 610 Office at the Luxun Arts Institution) Sun Jie, Head of the Security department Tian Liwu, Mr. Qu from the 10th branch office of Shenyang City Public Security Bureau, (now the national security division) and the head of the Finance Department Jia Shuping. These people colluded with the Shenyang City 610 Office, the Heping Sub-station of the Shenyang City Public Security Bureau and Xinxing Police Station in Heping District. They illegally kidnapped Gao and sent her to Shenyang City's Longshan Forced Labor Camp. Gao was brutally tortured and her face was seriously disfigured from electric shocks. Gao was eventually murdered by people at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province. During this period, Gao's family sought help many times from Wei Ershen, Wang Hong, and Sun Jie. The family hoped that these people could correct their crimes and release Gao, but they rejected the family's requests. Wei's attitude was especially fierce. When Gao was murdered by the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP), deputy secretary of the CCP Wang Hong and the head of the 610 Office Sun Jie went to Gao's home and threatened the family to have the body cremated immediately.

Today, the incident of Wang Wanning has once again exposed the ugly faces of the CCP's followers who persecute kind-hearted people. While Gao Rongrong was being murdered by the evil CCP, rainstorms, hail, and lightning descended on Shenyang City, reflecting a warning from the heavens to the evildoers. Wei Ershen is reported to have contracted nasal cancer.

We urgently request the unconditional release of Falun Gong practitioner Wang Wanning.

Nine More Practitioners from Shanxi, Gansu and Henan Provinces Persecuted to Death

Ms. Huang Guiqin, 42 years old, was a resident of Yangguan community in Xincheng District, Xi'an City, Shanxi Province. On January 19 of 2001, Xicheng District State Security Unit Captain Zhou Xiaoyu, along with a group of police officers, searched practitioner Ms. Zhu Aixian's home. At the time of the search, Ms. Huang and two other practitioners were visiting Ms. Zhu. The police illegally arrested all four practitioners. Ms. Huang was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp. She was released after 13 months.

In March 2002, a group of police broke into Ms. Huang's home, arrested her and took her to a brainwashing center, where she was persecuted for four months. After her release, the police frequently broke into her home and searched it without producing a search warrant. Ms. Huang frequently received threatening phone calls. The community also assigned people to monitor Ms. Huang. Police often harassed her at home. Sometimes there would be a few people harassing her, sometimes there would be dozens and sometimes they would stay for hours surrounding her residence. Over time Ms. Huang was severely traumatized, both physically and mentally. She became bedridden and passed away around June 13, 2005.

Ms. Wang Mei, 29 years old, was from Chengjiayao Village, Zhaohe Work Unit of Biyu Town, Tongwei County, Gansu Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999. After the persecution started, Ms. Wang's husband was deceived by the CCP's lies. He often beat her because she refused to renounce the practice. On the night of September 16, 2001, her husband Chen Sande beat Ms. Wang to death. After Wang died, Chen lied about the incident. So far he has not been charged for the murder.

Ms. Guo Qingming, 79 years old, was a practitioner from Tongwei County, Gansu Province. After July 20, 1999, the local police, along with Political and Judiciary Section staff Wang Qiang and Wang Kerang, repeatedly searched her home. Ms. Guo was fined and harassed, and had to endure the arrest of her son and grandson. Ms. Guo felt terrorized and her illness returned. She passed away in September of 2002.

Ms. Zhang Chunqin, 50 years old, was a practitioner from Jiefan District, Jiaozou City, Henan Province. Because she insisted on practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Zhang was arrested and taken to a detention center, where she had a heart attack. After paying 2,000 yuan in fines, she was bailed out on medical parole. After she recovered, she was forcibly sent to a brainwashing center. She died on April 28, 2002.

Ms. Li Yongzhi, over 60 years old, was a practitioner from Jijiazhuang Township, Wei County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. After the suppression of Falun Gong in 1999, she was sent to the brainwashing center, threatened, harassed and illegally fined many times. Therefore, her home atmosphere became very unpleasant. She passed away in April of 2001.

Ms. Deng Zhengyuan, 43 years old, was an employee at the Xupu County Rice Factory in Hunan Province. In March 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Later, she was detained for 15 days and fined 4,500 yuan. In the first half of 2001, she was detained in a hotel for two days and two nights on orders of her workplace supervisors. On October 14, 2002, her home was again searched. Ms. Deng was kidnapped and detained at the Political Security Office for 24 hours. Because Ms. Deng insisted on practicing Falun Gong, she was followed and monitored continuously. In May 2005, Ms. Deng died of illness.

Ms. Liu Yuling, over 40 years old, was from Yishang Village, Gaoli Township, Dingxin County, Hebei Province. Because she steadfastly practiced Falun Gong, the village and township officials often harassed her. She was illegally detained, fined, and her home was ransacked. Her family members did not understand her. One time, she was detained for 89 days. After being released, she was told to report to the village office three times a day. The ongoing persecution caused her to have a mental breakdown. She died in 2002.

Ms. Tang Hongxia, over 50 years old, was a practitioner from Chen Village, Gaoli Town, Dingxin County, Hebei Province. Because she practiced Falun Gong, she was arrested many times. The perpetrators were Liu Weixin (Secretary of Political and Judiciary Committee), Zhang Jidong (Director of Justice Department of Gaoli Township), officials from the Gaoli Township government, and officers from the local police station. Suffering this cruel persecution, Ms. Tang died in 2003.

Ms. Zhang Xiuling was 68 years old, and her entire family practices Falun Gong. They have been brutally persecuted over the past six years. The police from Cuimiao Town of Fuchen County publicly humiliated and denounced Ms. Zhang by parading her around the streets with a cardboard sign hanging around her neck. Ms. Zhang's oldest son died in the hands of the Fuchen Police Department. Ms. Zhang was arrested many times. Because of the constant harassment from government officials and police officers, Ms. Zhang died in July of 2005. A few days after her death, police from Wangji Town Police Station arrested her older daughter Liu Shuxiang. Her younger daughter Liu Jianxin has become homeless to avoid the persecution.

Four Falun Gong Practitioners in Liaoning and Hebei Provinces Die Due to Persecution

Ms. Liu Guixiang, a Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Pulandian City, Liaoning Province, was 47 years old when she went to Beijing to appeal on October 1, 2000. Upon returning home to Pulandian, Liaoning, she was detained for more than three months. She was detained again for holding banners, and released only after her family rescued her. She was arrested and taken to a brainwashing class by the local 610 Office in 2002. During that time her home was ransacked and her family members have been harassed many times since then. Her breast cancer relapsed under long-term persecution, and she died in April 2004.

Mr. Han Gang, 49, lived with his older sister, a Falun Gong practitioner, because lifelong illness prevented him from living alone. In 1999 he started studying and practicing Falun Gong with his sister. His physical condition improved dramatically, his cheeks turned pinkish, and many miracles happened to him after practicing Falun Gong. His older sister was arrested in 2001 by the 610 Office and all of their Falun Gong books were confiscated. He was left alone, with no environment for practice. His old sickness relapsed, and he died suddenly.

Ms. Qian Yulian, 64, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Qingyuan County, Fushen City, Liaoning Province. She learned Falun Gong in 1997, and the practice improved both her mind and body. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, the neighborhood administration kept harassing her at home, making her family very afraid. Under the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) long-term persecution, Ms. Qian died on July 7, 2003.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wengui, 71, lived in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. He used to have diabetes, but practicing Falun Gong cured him in 1996. At the end of October 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal together with his wife and son, but he was taken back. His employer and local 610 Office withheld his salary, imposed fines on him and illegally sentenced him to prison. The persecutors also withheld his wife's salary and forced her into financial hardship before sending her to a detention center. The persecutors withheld his son's salary and forced him to go through brainwashing sessions three times, and detained the son for two months in Qinhuangdao City First and Second Detention Centers. After detention his son was immediately sentenced to two years of forced labor and detained in the Tangshan Forced Labor Camp. At the same time Li Wengui had to pay for his five year-old granddaughter's living expenses. Under long-term persecution, Mr. Li Wengui died on August 4, 2003.

The Appeal of Li Zhanxian from Qidong County, Hunan Province

My name is Li Zhanxian. I was born in 1952 in Qidong County, Hunan Province. I live at Unit 201, Building No. 2, of the Chenzhou City Air Conditioning Equipments Factory. I was an employee of the factory until it went bankrupt. I make a living by delivering natural gas tanks. My wife and I are both Falun Gong practitioners. Before I started the practice, I had many illnesses, I was old and incredibly thin, and suffered pain beyond description.

I began to practice Falun Gong in 1994 and rapidly recovered my health and appeared younger. I am now over 50 years old, but others think me to be only over 40 years old. After my workplace went bankrupt, I had to do the kind of work that more youthful people usually do. I deliver gas tanks by bike every day, and carry them to the fourth or fifth floors without feeling tired. All these benefits come from practicing Falun Gong for many years.

Since beginning the practice, not only did my body become healthy, but my morality has improved based on the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Last year, my wife and I picked up 600 yuan and 68,000 yuan cash successively and returned both sums to their rightful owners. This is common behavior among Falun Gong practitioners. However, if I were not a practitioner, it would have been absolutely impossible for me to do this in the current atmosphere of materialism and avoiding hardship.

Such a popular practice that teaches people to be kind was banned overnight. Because I refused to renounce the practice, I have encountered continuous persecution from the 610 Office and the national security and public security departments. I have experienced detention, fines, beatings and forced labor. On August 19, 2004, officials from the public security bureau in Guiyang County arrested me and here I remain. Therefore, according to my rights given by the Constitution, I am reporting the persecution I have suffered. I hope you can examine the Falun Gong issue objectively and comprehensively and help end this catastrophe.

    Evidence of Persecution:

In July 1999, I came off duty and opened a bookstore. Chen Bingzhi from the Chenzhou Public Security Bureau led a group of people to rush into my bookstore. They confiscated several thousand Falun Gong books and a bankbook with 23,000 "yuan" in deposits. They only listed a small portion of the confiscated books and took other books and cash without giving me a receipt.

In order to deprive me of my belief and prevent me from practicing Falun Gong, the 610 Office and the national security and public security departments ordered twenty families from my workplace to frequently harass me at home. My workplace even set up a so-called guidance team and instigated agents to monitor and follow me. If they saw anything deemed "unusual", they would arrest me. One day in 1999, my wife's younger sister came to our home. The following day, Wu Ziqiang from the Beihu District Public Security Bureau took me away and interrogated me for the whole morning, and also questioned my wife and child. In December of 1999, Li Hui, a young man from my workplace, visited me at home. As soon as he sat down, a police car from the Chenzhou Public Security Bureau arrived. Police from the Beihu District Public Security Bureau rushed into my home and took the two of us to the detention center. They accused us of "attempting to practice Falun Gong and undermining the return of Macao." This charge was very odd, but the Chenzhou Daily actually published a big report with that title. When I was sent to the detention center, the police incited officials to "take a good care of them" (implying that the head of prison should beat us). It was a cold winter, and at nighttime it was even chillier. The prisoners pulled off our clothes and pushed us into a pool under the water tap to soak both of us with ice-cold water. For the next three days, they beat and kicked us, carried out all sorts of torture and forcibly grabbed cash, bankbooks and personal belongings from us. The prisoners later explained to us, "We are sorry. The police told us that if we didn't beat you, they would beat us."

In February 2000, Chen Zhibing again took me from my home and sent me to the Luosiling Detention Center in Chenzhou. As soon as I got there, the prisoners showered me with cold water. They slowly poured ice-cold water from my head down my body for 40 minutes; they pulled off my clothes and three prisoners punched my chest 150 times; they put my hands on the steel plate of a bed and a cement tile, and then hit my fingers with a wooden board or plastic shoe sole; they wet new towels and twisted them, and then fiercely whipped my belly and lower abdomen; they forced me to stand straight three steps from a wall and smashed my head into it. If my hands moved or the movements did not meet their criterion, it would not count and I had to redo it. They smashed my head into the wall three times a day for 28 days. I was set free after 67 days of detention.

On the morning of October 9, 2000, not long after I got up, Wu Ziqiang and other policemen from the politics and protection section of the Beihu District Public Security Bureau arrested me at home, and took me directly to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha. The charge was selling Falun Gong books. It was a fabricated charge.

I opened a bookstore and purchased books through regular channels before July 1999. They arrested me, and confiscated my money and books without giving me a receipt, while they claimed that I had violated the law. We all know that practicing Falun Gong was allowed before July 1999 and Falun Gong books were sold in Xinhua Bookstores. Furthermore, the Falun Gong assistance center of Chenzhou City was registered and approved by the Physical Culture Commission. Putting aside the invalidity of suppressing Falun Gong, they went into my dealings before July 1999, which also violates the principle of executing the rule of law. Because of this, I repeatedly appealed, but did not get any reply. In 2002, I was released after serving one and a half years of imprisonment. At 9 a.m. on August 19, 2004, I was unexpectedly arrested in Huaning Park in Chenzhou City by several unidentified people and sent to the Guiyang Party School. Afterwards I learned that those people were from the national protection team of the Guiyang Public Security Bureau. In the party school, they cuffed my hands and feet. They did not issue the detention notice until 4 p.m. the next day. They deprived of me of sleep for five consecutive days and nights and interrogated me using torture. I was extremely tired and my mind was unclear, so under prompting by the case officer, I signed the "affidavit" that they wanted. They said, "Chen Bingzhi took over 20,000 yuan from you, and you put him into an awkward situation. This time, I can sentence you at least ten years." From their words, I realized they were treating me this way in retaliation and venting their anger.

On November 15, 2004, the Guiyang Court heard this case. While bringing me out of the detention center, the bailiff shouted and abused me. During the five-hour hearing, my attorney vehemently denounced and refuted the so-called "evidence." The public prosecutor spoke incoherently and was unable to advance any further arguments to justify the charges. Finally during the defense's presentation, unexpectedly the judge curtailed my right to defend myself, only allowing us to make one statement. Then he announced the end of the hearing. As soon as the hearing was finished, one of the bailiffs scolded my attorney in public.

I was still sentenced to three years and six months in prison, although there was a lack of sufficient evidence. I was not convinced, so in mid December 2004, I appealed to the Chenzhou City Intermediate Court. Half of a year passed; I finally received the written verdict of final judgment from the intermediate court (far exceeding the legal deadline for the second trial). The judgment of the intermediate court was that I had not provided any testimony to substantiate the claim of torture by the police. The decision was that the original trial was recognized, that the evidence was sufficient and that therefore the original decision stood.

In summary, the 610 Office and the national security and public security departments have deprived me of my right to practice my belief, willfully manufactured the charge against me, arrested and detained me, forced me to perform hard labor, interrogated me using torture, and secretly incited prisoners to torture me. They wantonly insulted and slandered me personally, ransacked my home, extorted property and money from me without a receipt or a written list, isolated, detained and brainwashed me, tapped my phones and more. All these acts were clearly outside of the law and severely ignored human rights.

Persecution of Xie Hanzhu and Other Falun Gong Practitioners Continues in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province

On July 5, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Xie Hanzhu, Guo Yafen from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, Liu Liping from Chaoshan, and two other practitioners from other areas who had been forced to leave their homes and arrested, were secretly and illegally tried at the Meijiang District Court without notification of their family members. Xie Hanzhu, Guo Yafen and Liu Liping have been arrested and illegally detained many times before and suffered all kinds of torture, and they are now jailed at the Qinhuang Detention Center in Meizhou City and being subjected to further torture and forced labor.

On June 10, 2005, practitioners Xie Hanzhu, Guo Yafen, Liu Liping, and the two other practitioners said loudly in the court, "Falun Dafa is Good!" which caused the illegal trial arranged by the Meizhou 610 Office and the Meijiang District Court to end abruptly. However, Judge Chen blatantly shouted afterwards, "So what! I can still sentence you."

The above-mentioned practitioners were again forcibly taken to Meijiang District Court for an illegal secret trial. This time, fearing that their evil conduct would be exposed, the participants were extremely sly and tried to block the news. Even the family members of the practitioners knew nothing about it. Thus, it is quite possible that the practitioners could have been sentenced at will. At present, those practitioners are undergoing vicious force-feeding by the police because they went on hunger strike to resist the persecution. Their lives are in imminent danger.

Facing all of the persecution, including multiple arrests, detentions and torture, Xie Hanzhu, Guo Yafen and Liu Liping have always been steadfast in their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

Earlier in 2001, Xie Hanzhu had been force-fed by the police from the Fuda Detention Center in Mei County with a sharp-tip bamboo tube pushed through his throat. While incarcerated at the Qinhuang Detention Center in Meizhou City this time, he might be subjected to this form of torture again. According to inside information, the police have applied a "tiger cuff" to torture him. With books laid on top of his chest, the police hit him with a heavy hammer or their fists. As a result, Mr. Xie has suffered severe damage internally with no trace on the outside.

With Mr. Xie's arrest, his family is in a difficult situation. In 2001, Mr. Xie left the detention center with righteous thoughts. Because of his honesty and good management, his methane business flourished. Laughter returned to the family, which was absent for several years. Mr. Xie also voluntarily took the responsibility of raising his nephew, and he sent the child to study in the city. Now, the business has to be maintained by his 70 plus year-old father with great difficulty. His parents have spent days finding help for him and have become extremely thin and pallid. However, the authorities have tried all means to make trouble for his family visits and have blocked all related news. This has hurt Mr. Xie's relatives both physically and emotionally.

The Qinhuang Detention Center in Meizhou City has always been active in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. For a long time, they have overloaded and slave-driven detained Falun Gong practitioners with extended labor hours. Even the over 70-year-old practitioners are subjected to this treatment. The practitioners are locked in dark cells all day long and forced to make a plastic device, which is part of a kind of loudspeaker, by putting aluminum pieces into tiny holes. They are not allowed to make any mistakes and cannot go to sleep before finishing tens of thousands of quota. Any mistakes incur punches and kicks. At 5:00 a.m., before dawn, practitioners are forced to get up and do stepping exercise, shout slogans, and then start the slave labor non-stop. Usually they barely finish their quota by 10:00 p.m. As a result, their fingers often bleed, their eyes are red from fatigue, and they cannot walk straight.

One time a practitioner named Huang Yutian refused the forced labor and went on strike. A guard named Hou cuffed him to an iron gate and ordered a prisoner named Yang (a death sentence prisoner with delayed execution) to beat Mr. Huang. Practitioners' meals were worse than those for pigs and dogs. The meal was a sort of hard-to-chew vegetable stalk with no salt and no oil. The police also cuffed the practitioners, who continued doing the Falun Gong exercises. Using this method, they try to weaken the righteous thoughts and will of practitioners by exhausting them, leaving no time for anything else. The police also created an illusion: "It's indeed hard in the detention center. But once transferred to a forced labor camp or prison, the situation will greatly improve." This false impression has made some practitioners give up resisting persecution and subconsciously even wish to go to the forced labor camp sooner. Those practitioners whose wills have been weakened slack off after arriving at the forced labor camp, passively accept "transformation," and even "enlighten" along an evil path.
