(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Yang Mei, and I am from Xishui County in Hubei Province. I was born in 1976. I was arrested in April 2008 and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor in August. On April 13, 2009, I managed to walk free from the Hubei Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp using righteous thoughts and hints and strengthening from Master Li. Since then I have become homeless to avoid arrest.

Arrested and Sent to a Forced Labor Camp

At 4:00 p.m. on August 4, 2008, officers Wang Bingbing, Zhan Wei and two other policemen from Bailian Town, Xishui County arrested me at my workplace at Bailianhe Power Plant of Hubei Province and sent me to Xishui County Second Detention Center. At the time, I remembered Master Li's teachings,

"No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with the evil's demands, orders, or what it instigates." ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts are Powerful" from Essentials for Further Advancement II)

When they first came to my workplace, they told me that to ensure security for the Beijing Olympics, they were sending me to a brainwashing session. I refused them without any hesitation. The four officers then forcibly took me to the county Second Detention Center.

While I was there, I met Dafa practitioners from other towns. Among them were Tan Guishi, Feng Baonu, Ye Guiying, Xiao Tianying, Nan Guixiang, Wang Youchu, Cai Yingqiu, Ms. Yang (who was in her seventies) and Ms. Jiang (who was in her fifties). Feng Aiguo and Guo Jianli, heads of the county 610 Office, said that Zhou Yongkang had sent a secret telegraph, so during the Beijing Olympic Games we were detained for some time. Police officers Xia Zhiping and Yang Gang, and others, gathered a group of so-called helping and teaching assistants from every town and township around the county. Among them were those who had enlightened along evil paths and became collaborators, such as Nan Minxian, Nan Minjun and Guo Yun. In the brainwashing center, we practiced exercises, sent forth righteous thoughts and recited the Fa, as usual. We also told other detainees the truth about Falun Gong and urged them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

I held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The police ordered ten inmates to tie me to a wooden bed and affix my four limbs. They then gave me injections of an unknown drug, and inserted tubes to force feed me. I refused to write the three statements. They searched my home and confiscated a computer and an MP3 player. On August 20, policemen Yu Jinyuan and Chen Libing from Bailian transferred me to the county First Detention Center and told me that I was officially arrested.

On September 4, I was sent to the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp. The date listed on the forced labor warrant was August 24. Because I wrote "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good" on the questionnaire for the new inmates, Gao Lin, the inmate who monitored me, beat me about the face. Beginning on September 7, I refused to recite the 50th clause of the prison regulations. Instigated by the policewomen Zhang Xiaoyan and Huang Hanhua, four drug addicts, Gao Lin, Wu Najun, Wang Fang and Li Rong, started torturing me, and continued for more than a month. They beat me, deprived me of any sleep, and forced me to stand day and night. Occasionally I went to bed at 4:00 a.m. and had to get up at 5:30 a.m. I then sent forth righteous thoughts and memorized the Fa, silently. One day I could no longer bear it and passed out. I was taken to the hospital and told that I had suffered from hypoglycemia. I told the prison doctor that it resulted from being beaten. He just disregarded me.

Vicious and Thug-like Means

The ways they tortured Dafa practitioners every day included fierce kicking, rampantly beating one's head, stuffing one's mouth with dirty rags to stop them from shouting, kicking one's chest with their knees while grabbing one's hair, hitting one's back with elbows, slapping one's face, chopping across the front of one's neck, cutting the back of one's neck, fiercely pulling one's ears downward, flipping one's eyelids, hitting one's head with the corner of a stool, stomping on one's toes, striking one's instep, etc. My head was full of bumps as a result of being beaten, and my hair fell out in clumps. They often hit my breasts with their fists and grabbed my nipples fiercely. It was so painful. I refused to recite the prison regulations or write the three statements. I remembered how much Master Li has had to endure for us and felt that he was with me all the while. One day in September, they tried to force me to write the three statements, but I ignored them. They hit me, kicked me and pushed me down to the floor. Wang Fang pulled my left hand behind my back until it touched my right shoulder. Gao Lin seized me by the hair while Wu Najun sat on my thighs and Li Rong sat on my shanks. They inserted a pen between my first and middle finger, then closed my hand tightly and physically forced my hand to sign the three statements and took finger prints, repeatedly. (I don't acknowledge this, as it was not signed by me.) The two fingers of my right hand became very swollen and were so painful that I couldn't close them. For nearly two weeks I had to use my left hand to eat or wash my clothes. On the evening of September 13, Li Rong and Gao Lin beat me and pushed me to the ground. Each of them held my arms while Wu Najun fiercely kicked me and stomped on my belly and chest. It was so painful that I almost passed out. They stripped me several times and wrote slanderous words against Dafa and Master Li on my forehead, the insides of my thighs, under my pants and on the soles of my feet.

On September 20, they beat me so ferociously when they saw that I didn't recite the regulations that a big bump instantly appeared on my forehead and my nose bled. They kicked me so hard that my body flew up into the air and fell down heavily and I injured my tailbone. For several months, I had difficulty sitting down. My body was covered with bruises. When I told the police that I was beaten, Huang Hanhua and Zhang Xiaoyan said to me that they didn't ask anyone to beat me and they didn't beat me. When I questioned the inmates who monitored me why they beat me and deprived me of sleep, Wu Najun said, "The guards here will not beat you themselves, but they order us to beat you and they give us certain benefits. We are the backbone here. There is nowhere you can go to complain."

On November 9, the four of them started another round of torture on me because I refused to do physical exercises in the morning or during the break. They tied my arms to the window frames for two days and one night. They stripped me and pierced my body with needles. They filled up hot-water bags with boiling water and hit my face and head with them. They took off my shoes and socks and made me stand on the edge of a small stool and stomp my feet. They hit my eyes and pulled my hair. My eyes were injured so badly that even now I can't see clearly. The most base means they used was to brush my private parts with a tooth brush, poking my vagina and kicking my private parts with their leather shoes. Bruises were all over my private parts and the insides of my thighs. I had difficulty urinating and it was very painful. One day they picked up two kittens less than a month old from the road and put them on my body. They crawled all over my body and the perpetrators pinned the kittens' heads to my nipples and had them drink milk from my nipples. I felt so sick. Even today a chill goes through my spine when thinking of that.

Instigated by policeman Cheng Yu, three inmates handcuffed my hands from the back to chairs and force-fed me. My teeth became loose, as a result. There were big gaps between my upper teeth.

During the detention period, police forced practitioners to do slave labor nearly ten hours a day and monitored them around the clock, even at times when they met with their family members. They even deprived practitioners of their rights to meet their family members, make phone calls to their families, and take showers.

This was the second time I had been persecuted. The first time was in July 2004. I was detained for two days and fined 1500 yuan. I met Dafa practitioners Yang Shufen and Cai Yingqiu at the First Detention Center. Ms. Yang was sentenced to eight years in jail, and Ms. Cai was sentenced to three years in jail.

As far as I know, the Hubei Women's Prison currently detains fifty practitioners from Beijing. The Second Team detains twenty-five practitioners. Hui Yue and Yao Baoli have been released on bail for medical treatment. The prison detains nine practitioners from Hubei Province and Wu Yuqin was released on bail for medical treatment.
