(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 14 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 19 practitioners were illegally arrested.

At the beginning of 2006, officers from the Antu County Police Department State Security Division arrested Ms. Zhang Hongfeng for distributing materials with the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and telling others through text messages on her cell phone. The Autu County Court sentenced her to three years in prison with three years probation. At the beginning of May 2009, Ms. Zhang was taken to the Changchun City Women's Prison in Jilin Province.

On the afternoon of May 7, 2009, Ms. Zhao Zhenhua was taken to the Dalian City Drug Rehabilitation Center. She was released and back home at about 8 p.m. the same night.

Mr. Huang Lizhong, a practitioner from the Lianshan District in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, is being detained in the Fifth Division of Panjin Prison. On the morning of May 3, 2009, Mr. Huang's family members went to visit him but were not allowed to see him. The prison guard told his family that his visiting rights were suspended for half a year.

Mr. Zhao Liang is a practitioner from Gangtun Town in the Lianshan District and is being detained at the Fourth Division of Panjin Prison. On the morning of May 3, 2009, Mr. Zhao's father went to visit hi,m but the receptionist told him to get a certificate from the local police station first. Mr. Zhao's father had not seen his son for more than a year but he was still not able to see him.

At about 4 p.m. on May 7, 2009, three female practitioners from Dalian City, all in their fifties, were arrested while telling people the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Xiaopingdao area in Dalian City.

At around 4 p.m. on May 5, 2009, four officers from the Fate Township Police Station and a couple of officials from the Wangda Village Committee broke into Mr. Jin Yinglong's home and arrested him. They confiscated a DVD and an incense burner. Mr. Jin's son now has no one to care for him.

In April 2009, Ms. Wei Xiuying, a practitioner from Jincheng Town, Linghai City, was arrested and detained in the Linghai City Detention Center. In protest, she refused to cooperate with the police. She had on only an undershirt and underpants in the detention center since those were the only clothes she was wearing when she was arrested at her home. At the beginning of May 2009, witnesses saw the police taking her to the Linghai City Chinese Medicine Hospital, her face severely injured from beatings.

Ms. Hu Huiyang, a practitioner from the Hexi District, Tianjin, was detained in the Hexi District Detention Center. On December 2008, she was transferred to the Tianjin Detention Center.

On May 7, 2009, the police arrested Zhang Limin, a practitioner from the Baodi District, Tianjin. They confiscated his computer and printer. He is being detained in the Baodi District Detention Center. Mr. Zhang was a teacher at the Baodi District Fourth Middle School. He had been detained in the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin for three years. After he was released, he was fired from his job.

On the evening of May 5, 2009, officer4s from the Culture Road Police Station deceived practitioner Niu (given name unknown) and had Niu drive to the police station. After they found Falun Gong materials in Niu's car, they took away the key and Niu's cell phone. Then they went to Niu's home and ransacked it. They confiscated portraits of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Gong books. Practitioner Niu managed to escape from the police station.

Ms. Yang Guolan and Ms. Li Caihong are both from the Fengrun District, Tangshan City. On May 7, 2009, they were arrested and detained in the Fengrun District Detention Center.

On the morning of May 7, 2009, the police arrested Ms. Zhao Honghai and her sister, also a practitioner, at their home in Chifeng City. They are being detained in the Chifeng City Eastern Detention Center.

At about 10 a.m. on May 5, 2009, three police officers from the Nanhu Police Station in Wuchang City arrested Ms. Shi Yan. It was reported that she was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Ms. Du Dahua, a practitioner living at Huanghelou Street, Wuchang District, talked to the police officer who had followed and monitored her and told him about Falun Gong. She was arrested and detained in the Wuhai City First Detention Center. She will be detained for 15 days and should be released at 8 a.m. on May 10, 2009.

Ms. Li Yuehuan, 56, is a practitioner from the Haizhu District, Guangzhou City. In April 2009, she was reported to the authorities while she was distributing the materials with the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers from the Biancheng Police Station in the Nanshang District arrested and detained her in the Haizhu District Detention Center.

At about 11 a.m. on May 8, 2009, with an order from the Beihai City 610 Office and Beihai City Political and Law Committee, the police broke into Mr. Zhen Zhiwang's home and arrested him and his wife, Ms. Fu Guanglian. They are being detained in the local drug rehabilitation center.

On April 23, 2009, Ms. Wei Xiangbo was arrested while telling people the fact about the persecution of Falun Gong in Xinjian Township, Zhongfang County. She was taken to the Huaihua City Detention Center. Since she refused to tell the police her identity, she was transferred to somewhere in Zhongfang County for detention 15 days later.

Ms. Xu Zhiqun, in her fifties, is a retired employee of the Huaxhi Hospital Second Affiliated Hospital in Chengdu City. At about 8 p.m. on April 22, 2009, the security guards of the Huaxi Hospital reported Ms. Xu to the authorities while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials . Four officers from the Yulin Police Station pursued and arrested her.

On January 14, 2009, Ms. Liu Fengyun was released from the Jilin Women's Prison. She was very weak and disfigured. However, on May 8, 2009, local police officer Qi (given name unknown) went to her home to harass her. She was harassed a few times after her release.

At around 7 p.m. on May 6, 2009, several practitioners from Dazhongzhuang Farm in the Baodi District, Tianjin, were arrested at their homes. On May 8, 2009, a couple of them were released. Ms. Zang Hui and Ms. Chen Shuxiang were taken to the Baodi District Police Department.

Ms. Zhang Guilan, 37, is a resident of Mengjia Village, Mucun Town, Fangzi District, Weifang City. On May 6, 2009, she was arrested at her home. Her home was ransacked. She is being detained in the Fangzi District Detention Center.

Ms. Peng Gaidi is a resident of Futouzhuang Village, Zhoucun Township, Dingzhou City. On June 16, 2008, she was reported to the authorities while she was clarifying the truth to people in the market. Officers from the Dingzhou City Police Department State Security Division arrested her and ransacked her home. She was held in the detention center. 15 days later, the police deceived her 13-year-old daughter and had her sign the paperwork sentencing Ms. Peng to forced labor. She was taken to the Shijiazhung City Women's Forced Labor Camp. Her family went to the labor camp to visit her, but the camp guards refused to let them see her since Ms. Peng refused to renounce Falun Gong.

After Ms. Peng's arrest, the police from the State Security Division went to her home to harass her family. Her husband worked in the city to make a living but the local police purposely found things to be at odds with him about since his wife is a Falun Gong practitioner. He had trouble finding a job. Now, Ms. Peng's family has a great amount of financial difficulty. Her mother-in-law is in bad health. Her two young kids are in still school.
