Presented this 11th Day of May, 2009
WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate wish to honor extraordinary events of the state and those who celebrate them; and
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa practitioners observe the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance in their daily lives,striving to become better people in all environments and situations; and
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa has its roots in ancient Chinese practices of mind and body that promote the cultivation of body, mind, and spirit, inspiring millions of people through gentle exercise and efforts to develop their moral standards; and
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is practiced by tens of millions of practitioners in more than fifty-five countries; and
WHEREAS, the practice of Falun Dafa should be allowed in all countries, and those countries that persecute against its practice are denying their people their basic human rights; and
WHEREAS, the great compassion and tolerance demonstrated by Falun Dafa practitioners in upholding the principles of their practice under the most severe environment had touched the hearts of people throughout the city, state, nation and world; therefore be it
PROCLAIMED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we salute the practitioners of Falun Dafa on Falun Dafa Week.
