The two Falun Gong practitioners were arrested before the Beijing Olympics. After eight months detention, they were sentenced eight and four years' imprisonment, respectively.

Mr. Liu Qinghua was subjected to tortures in the prison. Due to his critical health condition, he was released on medical parole and died on February 23, 2009.

Falun Gong practitioners in Henan Province continue to be arrested and persecuted, in some cases they have been sentenced to extremely long terms.

The Panjin City Prison authorities were afraid that the tortures he suffered before his death would be exposed to the public, so they had Mr. Lu's remains cremated immediately without an autopsy or any legal procedures.

Two Falun Gong practitioners are allowed a trial with legal representation. The judicial process begins to work normally, but when the case is rejected for insufficient evidence, false evidence is created and the practitioners sentenced in secret.
